"Lifetime" says it all,

We had the pleasure of employing the skills of Lifetime Renovations crew for several projects over the past few years, the first being our basement, where they installed a beautiful and functional bathroom, which included a wonderful heated floor. An adjoining family room was re dry walled , painted and new carpet installed, as we own an older home this was no easy task, but it looks amazing. After the great work inside we asked Lifetime back to work their magic on our garden. Not exactly sure what we had in mind for the garden, but with the help of the imaginative design team, we ended up with a fantastic red cedar deck, complete with wrought iron railing, wood and natural stone steps, a unique rock garden completed by a surrounding cobblestone wall. We had many complements from friends and neighbours on the great work and would not hesitate to recommend Lifetime Renovations to anyone who wanted something special. The Lifetime team, including office staff, were courteous, punctual, helpful and very tidy on the job site. Again they come highly recommended.

Bathroom repair and ceiling drywalling and also retaining wall repair

I found A. Lifetime Contractors to be very professional, helpful and trustworthy. Hector was able to fix plumbing issues that 3 repairman from other companies could not. Had I gone with A. Lifetime to begin with I think I could have saved a lot of time , money and aggravation..

I also used A. Lifetime Contractors several years tago to redo my house's retaining wall. Although the company is not the cheapest, I have always been very satisfied with the work done and the service provided.

Kitchen Backsplash

Nice personal touch by their employee Vaughn. He took the time to help us pick out a suitable tile explaining the pros and cons of each one. His knowledge and experience were obvious as he quickly educated us on the various products and made our decision easy. The job was finished on time and he took great pains to communicate to us the steps he took throughout to ensure that we would be happy with the final appearance. We will be using them again and will be sure to ask for Vaughn as he truly did them proud with a professional effort from start to finish.

kitchen reno and hardwood floor

In 2005, our condo renovation with Lifetime Contractors included opening a curved archway from one room to another and adding plaster crown moulding around the perimeter. Every detail was executed to our satisfaction and it looks great.
This summer, Lifetime was the natural choice to gut and redesign the kitchen and replace all the carpets and tile with hardwood flooring throughout. They helped out with colour consultation prior to painting all walls and trim.
The kitchen looks great and I'm so grateful to the staff of Lifetime Contractors for and everything they did and their professionalism.

Bathroom reno

This reno happened before I moved in to my home, and was supposed to take about 6 weeks. It took 5 months. The bathroom upstairs went through extensive remodeling including a re-positioning of the toilet and bath. The contractors didn't use spacers on the tile (so the tiles are uneven) and the grout has almost all fallen out in the 4 years since, beginning right away - including on the floor and beside the window. The toilet tank was chipped as they installed it, they didn't cap the window until a friend pointed it out to me and I specifically requested it, and the tub leaked down into the dining room below upon its first use - at which point they came back and smeared sealant on the tub and cut a hole in the wall to raise it up from the room next door. It still collects water on the side whenever the tap is turned on. My very expensive little bathroom never looked as though it was properly finished, and they didn't even clean before they handed it over until I asked and showed pictures of the various urine stains and dirt in the bathroom. During the reno, they left my house key "hidden" on the porch in the front of the house despite my requests not to (I had a neighbour who kept coming into the house and removing fixtures for the former owner), smoked inside, and were generally filthy. The owner took no responsibility for the issues on inspection, was defensive and dismissive, and did little or nothing to address them. They were both expensive AND careless with this reno, and needed constant oversight, which was both unexpected and more than I could provide at the time.

Porch renovation

This company performed consistently poorly. The project manager rarely returned calls promptly, was slow to rectify errors. We called into head office numerous times to clear the problems with the owner who, to her credit, acted quickly. However, the project that was started last spring remains unfinished. If you are expecting to be treated like a consumer and customer, go elsewhere. The quality of Lifetime's work was good but not worth the aggravation.

Company Response

This job was supervised by a recently hired project manager whom I fired when it became clear he was not up to the job. At that point, I took over the project and acted quickly, as the reviewer states. The job started on March 29, 2006 and was completed on April 18, 2006.

When the reviewer states “the project that was started last spring remains unfinished”, that is not accurate. She is referring to a problem that arose when the weather turned cold in November of 2006, long after the job was completed.

As far as I know, a staffing problem was addressed (by firing the project manger), the work was completed in a timely manner, the reviewer was satisfied with the quality of work, and all complaints were addressed to the customer’s satisfaction.

The only legitimate complaint is that a problem arose after the work was completed and couldn’t be addressed immediately because of cold weather.
