Total payments made: $5,700. Only significant work performed was demolition, concluded on 12/27/2004 while contract stated that work was to be completed by 12/4/2004. Some minor electrical and plumbing was started.
We filed complaints with the Illinois Attorney General's office and the Better Business Bureau. Additionally, filed a police report.
There was a judgement filed in excess of $500,000 in the case of People vs. Alpha Core Construction, Inc., and George [last name removed -- Ed].

- Only work with contractors found via "word of mouth" - those who can be recommended by people you know. DO NOT go with the firm providing the lowest estimate. Build into the contract a schedule of payments made based on specific milestones or completion points.
