I didn't know where these tiny holes in the doorway were coming from. They were not round like a nail but had an "eaten" look like a caterpillar eating a hole on a leaf. I didn't want to consider the possibility of an infestation but called in for a look-see. What the termite guy found was soft, moist wood that crumbled all around the house. Definitely termites. Supposedly this is the perfect condition for an infestation. So we decided to fumigate. We thought it would be easy but there's a lot of work that you yourself have to do. First you have to move all your food because the toxic gas will contaminate it - or throw it all away. You have to hide your valuables because you are not allowed to stay inside and watch your stuff while the strangers are working inside. And finally you have to find somewhere else to stay overnight. My husband and I went to a hotel - an additional $140 cost. Those termites cost us a lot of money and not only for the service and additional expenses but the damage to our home. The termite people knew what they were doing and did the job quickly. They had the whole house covered up within an hour and a half and the job was done in one day. But I still am not sure if all the termites were eliminated.
