Ideal Stairs - stair recapping, stair refinishing and stair renovation in GTA

Almost every aspect of dealing with this company and Mesh, who was my main point of contact, was amazing. A very thorough quotation process, short turnaround time from executing contract to starting the job. I also made a few changes to the initial scope of work which probably should have resulted in additional costs but I was not charged more than what was quoted.

There were a few issues.

1. The first is a small issue. Since the job started on a Thursday, I had to live through the weekend where no work was being performed without the safety of a railing system. I have three kids aged 1, 3 and 5 so that was a very nerve wracking weekend.

2. The second issue relates to the stain colour. Mesh explained that the difference between red oak and yellow oak effects how the stain appears which seems to have been a factor in our case.

In spite of this, I would still recommend Mesh and Ideal Stairs and would use them for another project if an opportunity arose.

I hired Ideal Stairs to replace the carpet on my stairs with Oak treads and risers. The work included re-facing the stringers, replacement of the balusters, replacement of the posts and refinishing the existing bannister. I also had them install matching hardwood in the upstairs hallway.
All of the work was top notch and completed on time. The workers sealed off the areas of the house that were not being worked on, they removed all of the old materials each day and they cleaned the work space before leaving each night.
The work was completed as promised and to my satisfaction. I am so pleased with the work that I am planning to have them install hardwood flooring in all of the bedrooms.
Raj and his team did an excellent job and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

We decided to change from carpet to laminate in our bedooms and oak on the stairs all the way to the basement. We obtained a few quotes which included Ideal Stairs. The first call to the office began our plesant journey after speaking to Jenna. Mesh was able to come over that same evening and povided a quote for the stairs and purchase and installation of laminate in the bedooms. We visited the showroom a couple days later and had a very plesant customer service experience with Jeanna. We also found another laminate that we liked for the basement at another supplier. Rajan came over and provided an estimate for the entire job which included the installation of the laminate in the basement. We proceeded with the job. It was scheduled for later in the next week. The entire job took about 5 working days. The workers were punctual and skilled in what they did. They took care and cleaned up at the end of each day. Mesh and or Rajan came over every day to check on the job. They kept us in the loop. It was always easy to contact someone and calls were returned promptly. There quote was what we paid and also included the underpad, baseboards, all oak stairs and risers and handrails. Rajan even added the 1/4 round afterwards for the basement at no additional cost. The stairs and the laminate looks great. We are pleased to get rid finaly of carpet and even more pleased with the work that Ideal Stairs did. Honestly, If you are looking for a great finished product, professionalism and people who care about the quality of their work, 2 words, IDEAL STAIRS! I have dealt with other contractors in the past and Ideal Stairs were simply great what is not to like about this:

1. Fair reasonable price

2. They have a great step by step approach so you know what is happening when, on what day, no ambiguity. I also like they setup a day for you to come view the stain on a test piece to ensure it is to your liking before apply to all your stairs. These guys make it as easy as possible for the customer ... EXCELLENT customer service!

3. Little to no mess in your house, all the messing work (cutting, staining) is completed at their factory. And the work they need to complete in your house they are careful and keep the mess to a minimum, they care. I have had other contractors complete jobs and left my home in layers of dust.

4. After the stairs are installed Mesh and Raj come and inspect their employee's work. Our stairs look beautiful and they ensured everything was perfect! As a customer loved it, these guys take pride in their work, my wife and I were very impressed!

We hired Ideal Stairs to change our stairs from carpet to solid oak as well as our entire flooring. They did a fantastic job in our home, The entire work was done by well trained people, easy to deal with, efficient and very knowledgeable workers. The management was true to his word, it was completed in a timely manner. Best of all, my home is completely transformed to a more modern look, all thanks to Rajan and his crew. This company were very respectful of the client. They were diligent to insure that as a customer I was happy with their work. Each day, we were notified of what was to be expected and it was done to our satisfication. Any requests we made were accepted and dealt with immediately. The work was completed in appropriate time. The builders had to remove carpet and lay a new floor in a hallway. As well, they removed the carpet from two floors of curved stairs, the spindles, railings, and posts. Replaced with hardwood, new spindles and stained posts and railings. There was plenty of sanding, staining and varnishing to be completed. But those stairs are beautiful! Thanks to a great job.
