A review for McDonald Painting

We are delighted by the excellent work done by Jeff on the exterior painting of our house. Our house is mainly wood siding, 20+ years old. Some of that siding had started to wear, and we wondered if it had enough life left for another round of paint. Well, we hired Jeff for the job, and now our house looks absolutely stunning. He was honest and fair in assessing the job and pricing the work. I trusted his advice, and, when he was done, that siding looked far superior than I thought it could. The job took a couple weeks, and we were impressed by the amount and detail of the prep work he put in. I believe it is this attention to prep work that will make the this investment last for years. He carefully washed the whole house, removed all the eaves-troughs and downspouts, and hand-scraped all peeling areas. Also of note is his smooth detail work around all the fixtures and edges; and even the top of the chimney stack! Jeff is a reliable, trustworthy professional that delivers through, quality work. Highly recommended, and well worth the wait to get in his schedule.

A review for Dupont Heating & Air Conditioning Ltd

We hired Dupont to purchase and install an AC unit & humidifier to our forced air system. They promised us that we would get a $50 rebate on the AC unit. However, the manufacturer did not want to honour that, and it was an ongoing issue. Then, a month after the installation, the water connection to the humidifier broke while I was in the hospital. We got home from the hospital to find 1/3 of our basement flooded. They came and fixed the connection. On the rebate issue, Dupont finally did help us get the rebate. I felt I really had to pressure them to live up to this part of their commitment to us. $50 is a small amount on a $4,000 job, but they might have been more helpful about it - especially as we never sought damages for the water damage done as a result of the poor connection to the humidifier.

A review for Weed Man

We signed up for a full year of Weed Man services for our lawn. Maybe I was too optimistic. But when I hired "Weed Man" I thought this company would get rid of weeds. Hasn't worked out that way. Our lawn and gravel areas are full of weeds. And I've also been disappointed to see some of the biggest brown patches I've ever seen on our lawn this year. We're pretty good about watering so I doubt the big brown patches are entirely a watering issue. We're not planning on hiring this company next year, and we will have to request them to take us off their phone solicitation list. (They really used to phone us a lot, in the years before we signed up.)

A review for Merry Maids

Merry Maids (200 Evans Ave Unit #1) clean our house monthly, and its GREAT. We love coming home after work, and everything is beautiful and clean, and smells nice. We love the job that Merry Maids do. Terrific, highly recommended.

A review for King S&L Paving

When they ran into trouble we had a spell of them not returning our phone calls. (Also many no-shows on their part.) Finally, the job was done months later. We waited 5 days before parking on the driveway (King guys told us to wait 3). The morning after we did park on it for the first time, we were able to see (tiny) ruts from where the tires sat. We're living with it. Can't bear to call them again.

A review for Kipling Renovations & Repair

Our older home needed a major update inside. Kipling came in and gutted the main level living and dining room, the stairway, the upstairs hallway, master bedroom, and installed flooring in the attic. They redid the HVAC and upgraded electrical throughout. We were thrilled by the quality workmanship, the professionalism and the attention to detail. The job went from demo'ing the old plaster and lathe right to finishing (painting). It was so easy for us. After poor experiences with previous contractors, working with Kipling was a dream. Fast, clean (we lived in the house during the reno), and they didn't nickel-and-dime us on the small stuff. We've referred them to our neighbours for a similar job, who also have great feedback on Kipling's work.
