We called Tim for a small job, putting up some hooks on a plaster wall backed with a brick wall. He is a knowledgable, and friendly professional that got the job done quickly and to our satisfaction. We will definitely be calling him again!

Hole in soffit of roof

10

A review for GTA Wildlife Removal and Pest Control

Jul 12, 2010

Troy at GTA Wildlife promptly and professionally fixed a hole in our soffit, which we believed was made by a raccoon. He explained everything along the way and solved the problem in a conscientious and courteous manner. I would highly recommend their services!

Company Response:

Thank you very much for taking time to write this review. Wildlife in homes can be solved by making any necessary repairs/improvements to the roof to keep them out. Troy is really good finding real solutions to solve wildlife and pest issues. Thank you.

Re-keying of door locks

9

A review for EAGLE DOORS & LOCKSMITH SERVICE INC

Jul 10, 2010

We needed to have our locks rekeyed/replaced after losing a set of keys and we initially called the chap we had used once when we locked ourselves out of the house. He wasn't available until Monday, so I went on to Homestars and found Eagle as the highest-rated company in that area, so I gave them a call. They managed to fit me in that same day and completed the change of locks quickly and efficiently. They also gave me an excellent assessment of our current doors and locking structures with recommendations. These guys know their stuff and we will definitely use them to upgrade our doors in the near future.

Drywall repair after electrical refit, and Painting

1

A review for All Star Construction

Jun 11, 2010

We needed repairs to the damage done in the house after we replaced our knob & tube wiring. There were holes cut in the ceiling and walls, in the basement, living room, kitchen, bedrooms, etc. We also needed to repaint the walls and were painting out all the old wood moulding white. This contractor was recommended to us by our real estate agent, as he said that he had good results from him previously. We had three quotes, and his was the highest (almost double one of the other quotes), but both my wife and I had met with him and he seemed to answer our questions well. Firstly, I think that there was little supervision on the job, and it shows. While the work was being done, we came home to faucets running, different colour white paint being used in the same area, and all in all a poor job. I would raise the issues and try to get things corrected, but all I kept getting were excuses. It just seemed like there was no supervision on the workers. We are now finding many cracks and discolouration of paint, not even two years later. We were disappointed then and we continue to be significantly disappointed now. Eventually, we will have to redo a lot of the work that has been done which is a pain...We would recommend you avoid using this contractor.

New Vaccuum

10

A review for Dyson Canada Ltd.

Jun 11, 2010

We have a dog that sheds like crazy, so we are always picking up dog hair from everywhere! Our last vacuum (a sears job, I think) broke in half as I was carrying up the stairs, which is a major undertaking. We decided to try the Dyson vacuums, as they seem to be well regarded. We have been very pleasantly surprised! This is an amazing vacuum, with fantastic suction. It is light, manoeuvrable, and very easily cleaned. No bags to buy and everything is a pleasure to use. We got the one with a ball, and the animal suction. Very happy with their service - they even send us an e-mail reminding us when to remove and wash the filter!

Maintain Air conditioner and furnace

10

A review for Premi-Air Heating & Air Conditioning

Jun 11, 2010

Our old house was having difficulty with the air-conditioning, specifically, the second floor was not really getting much cold air! We had Premi-Air come in and give us an assessment on different options to solve the problem, as well as to maintain our air conditioner and furnace. They were prompt, knowledgeable and professional. All was conducted with no mess or fuss and everything is working well. I would highly recommend them.

Company Response:

Thank you so much for your nice review. We try very hard to provide great service through training, care and professionalism. We really appreciate your acknowledgement.

Installation of new sewer and water service

10

A review for Priority Plumbing Ltd

Jun 10, 2010

We had blockages in our sewer system due to the roots from the trees penetrating the old clay pipes and had lead pipes for our water service, which our neighbours did as well. When they decided to repair theirs, we did as well and used Priority Plumbing to get the job done. Mike and his crew not only explained exactly what the problem was, but what they were doing to fix it at each step of the way. We had no surprises about the work, and the price was exactly what they quoted us. The best part is, that the cleanup was fantastic, and everything was put back in the front yard (less the plants, which I had time to remove) exactly the way it was. Mike and the team were friendly, professional and did a fantastic job! So good in fact, that they will be starting on replacing the clay pipes in our basement! They are highly recommended!

Company Response:

Thank you for sharing your experience with our neigbors in Toronto. We are very thankful for trusting us with your project and allowing us the opportunity to serve you. We try to make all of our customers happy and hearing about it is the greatest reward we can recieve. Thank you for choosing Priority Plumbing. Sincerely - Austin Tsakopoulos - President

Clean Eavestroughs

8

A review for Toronto Clear View Window Cleaning, Inc.

Sep 14, 2009

The job was completed to our satisfaction and I would use them again for this type of work. Price was fair for the value they delivered. Homestars should get rid of the 30-word minimum on reviews.

Company Response:

Wish we knew who you were as we would contact you to find out why you rated the work as "8" instead of "10". Besides, if we did something less than stellar, we'd like to know where we could improve. In any case, based on your comments, it seems you were happy.

Removal of Knob & Tube and Fixing Previous Wiring

10

A review for RLC Electric

Aug 07, 2008

Ralph provided a quick and detailed estimate for us, and explained all the issues that needed to be addressed in order to replace all the knob & tube wiring in our 1933 house, as well as fix the wiring errors that had been conducted when the house was somewhat renovated prior to our purchase. We had in fact conducted a Knob & Tube audit of the house, which ended up being worthless, as Ralph and his crew reviewed ALL the wiring in the house, correcting it and bringing it up to code. He was extremely flexible and responsive and was able to get the complete job done on the long weekend that we were away. His estimate was significantly less than the others that we received, and he it was done in far less time as well. Ralph took care of the work permit and the ESA inspection, which made things easier for us. He is thorough and extremely professional. He explained options to us and made us aware of the building codes current and to come, to ensure that our wiring would be in compliance. He is extremely conscientious and honest in his work and showed us some damage that had happened during the wiring and what he had done to repair the damage. He was a pleasure to deal with and I will recommend him highly for any future work.
