Roof - Shingle Replacement

3

A review for WedgeWood Home Improvements

Sep 18, 2011

In Oct 2004, Wedgewood replaced our shingles and they were responsive (gave us a quote quickly, started the job when promised), finished the job on time, and cleaned up well at the end of the job. They told us that no wood needed to be replaced. However, in Aug 2011 (7 years later) our roof leaked and water dripped into one of the bedrooms. Thankfully, Wedgewood agreed to cover the cost of the re-shingling for the one side of the roof that leaked. But we then found out that some of the wood needed repairing, repairs were needed to the other side of the roof, and that tar paper had not originally been put down between the shingles and the wood (apparently, the Building Code does not require tar paper). So we have had some good experiences with Wedgewood, but it's hard to be pleased when your roof leaks 7 years after re-shingling and ends up needing repairs.

Duct & Dryer Vent Cleaning,

10

A review for The Duct Cleaning Specialists

Apr 10, 2011

Paul came in and thoroughly explained the work. Initially, he thought he was going to have to remove part of our ceiling to get at the main duct, but thankfully, he figured out a way to attach the vacuum to the exposed ductwork above the furnace. Paul and his assistant cleaned up and left everything spotless. I would definitely use them again.

Company Response:

Hey Chris, thanks for your review and kind words. Glad you were happy with my work, and that I was able to properly clean the ductwork with the situation yours was configured. Looking forward to being of service again in a few years. All the best. Paul

Deck

A review for Urban Haven Landscapes

Nov 14, 2010

On the recommendation of a neighbour, we hired Alan to do the railings, privacy wall, and skirting on our new front deck (we had done the framing and floor ourselves). He had some great design ideas and we were very happy with the work. We even had neighbours that commented how hard he worked - they never saw him take a break! He was very meticulous and very detailed in his work. We will definitely be asking him to come back in the spring for some work in our back yard.

Masonry & Tuckpointing

10

A review for Dilullo Restoration

Nov 14, 2010

John and his team replaced some bricks in our doorway pillars, tuckpointed the entire house where needed and fixed the concrete at the top of our chimney. John was great to work with and explained everything in detail. He even threw in some caulking work for free and gave our 5 year old daughter a DVD movie. Would definitely recommend Dilullo to anyone.

Repair holes in lath & plaster & drywall

10

A review for RA Rosati Drywall Inc.

Feb 22, 2009

Rob came and repaired holes made by the electricians, as well as some other repairs. He did such a great job that our neighbour asked for Rob's contact info when they saw the job that he did - you couldn't tell where the holes had been. Would definitely recommend Rob to others.

Replace Knob & Tube Wiring

A review for Ramalho Electric

Feb 22, 2009

Ramalho Electric was recommending to us by a friend and we were not disappointed. Michael's quote was way less than others and the work was done on time (3 and 1/2 days). They even did a few little 'extras' and did not charge us. My only complaint was that the holes that they cut out for new outlets and switches were not the neatest, but then again, it was tough cutting that old lath and plaster. Would highly recommend that you give Michael a call.

Exterior Painting

10

A review for Larry's Painting and Repairs Ltd.

Feb 22, 2009

Everyone at Larry's did a great job. Russell came out and gave us the quote and he took the time to explain everything in detail. The guys that did the work did excellent work on everything - wood trim around windows, wood and aluminium on front porch, fibreglass doors and wood trim at back. Would recommend them to anyone.

Faucet Replacement & Fix Leaking Toilet

8

A review for ExpressRooter Plumbing

Feb 22, 2009

After the excellent work that Express Rooter did on our drain pipe replacement (see separate review), we had them come in to replace a kitchen faucet, and fix a leaky toilet, and didn't even bother getting other quotes for the work. In the end the work was great and all problems were solved but being charged over $400 for about 1 hour and 15 mintues of work seemed high. I had already purchased the new faucet myself, and there was only 2 small parts that they had to replace (although maybe these were expensive ? The parts cost was not separated on the bill). I wouldn't hesitate to use them again, but I would still get 2 other quotes for comparison.

Drain Pipe Replacement

9

A review for ExpressRooter Plumbing

Feb 22, 2009

We had significant tree root penetration in our old clay pipes so had them replaced with new PVC pipe. Martin at Express Rooter took a lot of time to explain our options. The guys that did the work were fast and cleaned up everything so well that I couldn't even tell that the work was done by the sight of our property. But Martin showed us the new pipe with the camera scope. Express Rooter was also the cheapest quote of the 3 that we received. My only complaint was that they decided at the last moment to go with another option of how to do the work, and it was an option that hadn't been given to us originally. In the end everything worked out great. Would definitely recommend Express Rooter to others.

Patch Holes, Plaster Wall, Paint Room

10

A review for Hatog Pliev

Jan 11, 2009

Afer having foam insulation blown into our house's exisitng walls, Hatog patched and primed all the holes. Then we had him smooth out and prime our existing stucco walls (7) which included removing wallpaper on 1 wall. Then we had him paint a whole room. Overall, the work was excellent and the price was right. We will likely be getting Hatog back to do more painting for us when we're ready. If you want value for your money, call Hatog.
