Asbestos removal from a heating duct

A review for Amosite

Sep 14, 2012

We used Amosite this summer to remove some Asbestos around a heating vent. They has the most reasonable prices of the companies I called, and came out within a day of me calling. They did a professional job (sealing off the area, using negative air etc...) and disposed of all the waste. Fast, speedy and professional job. I would certainly recommend them.

A review for Nantucket Kitchens And Fine Cabinetry

Sep 14, 2012

We recently used Nantucket for custom kitchen cabinetry in our home. While they were above our initial budget for our kitchen reno, we felt that the custom work and attention to detail we received was worth the extra cost. Most importantly, Nantucket uses real, quality wood in their cabinetry. This is a small shop and the proprietor will work closely with you to achieve the design of your dreams. Alot of passion goes into their work. I got the impression that they are used to designing kitchens for designer, well-to-do clients rather than a young DIY couple. Despite the fact that we couldn't afford to pay for alot of elaborate design (already choosing a custom shop was a treat for us) options, Nantucket ensured that our kitchen would suit our lifestyle and design needs.

Marble kitchen countertop

A review for Caledonia Marble Co Ltd

Sep 14, 2012

We recently purchased a marble countertop for our kitchen from Caledonia Marble. Caledonia had the best prices and did a decent install job. Unfortunately, their customer service is terrible and working with them takes alot of patience. The store is run by an extremely old Italian man (Luigi) and his daughter. Luigi does not speak very good English and is very abrupt when on the phone. During one of my calls he hustled me off the phone before I was finished speaking in order to "take the other line". You cannot deal with the younger daughter as she defers everything to Luigi. After we went to the showroom to pick out a slab, I told Luigi that we would call him 1 day before the countertop installation was complete, so they could come and measure. I even gave him the date I would call. About a week before, he called me 4 times within a half hour period, without leaving a message! When I finally called back, all he said was "I thought you wanted the counter"? He seemed to have forgotten that we had no counters to measure yet. The day he was to come measure, he called a half hour before the appointed time to say that he wasn't coming until later that afternoon. Luckily, my partner works at home and could accommodate this! After the measurement he said it would take 2 weeks or less to get the counter. After 2 weeks and not hearing anything, I called to find out when our install date was. I couldn't get a straight answer and had to call back 3 times over a week to get a date. When the install date arrived, they thankfully arrived on time and got everything in and done within 2 hours. They moved our extremely heavy stove into place, which was nice of them. Unfortunately they also wrecked part of our new drywall when installing the countertop, which we will have to spend time patching up. They brought us the sink cut out, which they had rounded off nicely into a cutting board. I'm undecided whether I would ever use them again or recommend them, since the whole process was a complete hassle. On the other hand, the price was good and the finished job looked great.

Structural beam replacement in our kitchen ceiling

10

A review for PTR Carpentry

Jun 18, 2012

Paul and his team came by recently to reinforce and fix a number of supporting beams in our kitchen ceiling for a renovation we're doing. We couldn't have been happier with the quote, and timeline of the job. Paul's crew showed up on time and immediately got to work. They had the entire job finished within a day, exactly as quoted. They were very professional and it was obvious that they had alot of knowledge in this area of structural reinforcement. I would definitely recommend them!

Company Response:

Thanks for the kind words Sabrina. We were glad we were able to help. Good luck with the rest of the project, call me if I can be of further assistance. Paul

A review for Straight Up Masonry

May 04, 2012

We recently had Straight Up over to enlarge a brick wall in the back of our house. They removed an old window and enlarged the area to accomodate a french door we're having installed. Straight Up was very professional, and they charged us the exact amount quoted. Their prices are very reasonable! They came in $1000 UNDER the other quotes we had gotten. They arrived on time for the job and finished it quickly and professionally within a day. The results were fantastic. They even brought in bricks to finish the job that match our old 1930's brick! I will definitely be using Straight Up again when we fix our chimney and re-do our fireplace.

Company Response:

Thanks for the review, look forward to working with you in the future, Tony.
