install new 1" copper water main

10

A review for DrainCom

Nov 22, 2012

We needed a new water main in our 120 yr old house. Got lots of quotes. Draincom was competitively priced and suggested a good way to handle a tricky job (a cramped utility room in the basement). Some other companies were quoting on cheap plastic PEX piping for outside. Draincom gave us 1" copper. They did a very good job and took care to clean up afterwards. It was all done in a day.

A review for pesticon pest control

Nov 22, 2012

We had a flea problem caused by 2 cats. Nothing we tried on our own worked. We called pesticon and they were very accommodating to our scheduling needs. Have not had a problem since.

A review for KNT Electric

Mar 01, 2012

I was in the middle of a project getting a sump pump installed in our basement. In the back room the wall plugs stopped working because of an equipment overload. When I could not correct the fuse issue I called Bill. We've known Bill Tang and KNT since he rewired our whole 1890 house 2 years ago (doing an amazing, non-destructive job). Bill came by in the afternoon and personally dealt with the issue for me. He is always, helpful, upbeat, respectful of homeowners concerns, and dependable. The kind of vendor you stick with and recommend to other people. So if you have a huge project like we did originally, or just need a dependable trustworthy electrician, call KNT and they will take care of you.

Company Response:

Thank you Scott for taking time to write a review here for me. Repeat business means a lot to KNT Electric, it shows we have what it takes to not just meet your expectations, but exceed it as well.

Foundation waterproofing + weeping tile and sump pump installation

A review for FBR Waterproofing

Mar 01, 2012

When our tenant moved out last Saturday, we discovered some moisture in the drywall at the back of the house (1890, stone foundation). We had a tenant due to move in on the 1st, and I knew I had to deal with the moisture issue properly. On Saturday I went on Homestars and looked up the waterproofing businesses with the best reputations. I left messages with 7 of them. On Monday, 3 sent representatives to look at the situation. Oleg from FBR came at 6PM. I found him to be very straightforward and helpful. His price was the best, and they have great reviews here so I decided to go for it. He started the next day with a crew of 2 guys showing up as planned ay 8am. Let me say I don't know if I have ever seen people work as hard as these guys did. They managed to dig out a giant trench to expose the foundation - under our back deck - without destroying the deck (they removed some planks for access which they put back later) or any of the surrounding landscaping. These guys worked non-stop for 12 hours a day, 2 days in a row. The filled in all the eroded gaps with mortar. Then they applied a protective coating over everything. Then they installed a new weeping tile and a protective membrane over the foundation wall. Then they filled in all the dirt. One came back today to finish the sump pump install and to clean. The backyard looks normal again after having had a giant mound of dirt in the middle of it. These guys also had a great attitude throughout. They must have felt exhausted at times, but they were always upbeat with me. They cut no corners, they explain everything, and they do a top notch job. With no surprises. They clearly care about doing the job right, and they are building a reputation that proves it. So I am extremely happy with my choice to work with FBR. If you are reading this because you have found yourself in a situation where you need to protect your basement from water, don't hesitate to call FBR. Oleg will take you through everything and make sure the results are perfect.

Moving Dryer Plug Installation

10

A review for KNT Electric

Aug 02, 2011

We hired KNT electric to update all the wiring in our 1890's home about a year and a half ago. They did a great job, and perfectly preserved all the historical crown molding. Last week we recently bough a new stackable washer and dryer, as we've just had twin babies and have a lot more laundry. After delivery we realized that the electrical cord for the dryer would not reach the original outlet. I called Bill. He came by the next afternoon. He checked it out and had some employees who came over within a few hours and rewired the outlet. He knew we had an urgent need because of the babies. Not only did he remedy the situation immediately, he did this as a courtesy to us. No charge. That is the kind of vendor he is. Knowledgable, genuine, generous. He really came through for us - this is the type of person he is and the type of business he runs. He is truly a great guy and does amazing work. Read my earlier review here to learn about the big rewiring job he did for us last year.

Company Response:

Thank you for your praise Scott. Keeping promises is the cornerstone of our business. Our post sales service motto is: "No sale is final until you are satisfied". We are really serious about what we do, and we know customers appreciate this type of attitude. Thanks again, and all the best with your family.

2 New Windows in 1890's Victorian

10

A review for Sobol Inc.

May 12, 2011

This is the second time we have used SOBOL and Archie to install some new windows in our home. As usual, Archie was on time, and he and his worker installed the 2 windows perfectly. We were extremely pleased with the result and will no doubt be calling him when we decide to tackle the next set of windows.

new shingle roof

10

A review for professional roofers.com

Nov 02, 2010

I got estimates for re-roofing our 1890s Victorian from 4 other companies. I felt good about going with Professional Roofers based partly on the reviews here, and partly on the impression I got from the representative they sent over. They did the entire job in 1 day -- they removed all the old shingles, installed underlay and icing material everywhere, installed 30-yr shingles over top, installed 2 new vents, and even moved the installation of the turbine vent for us. The job was very messy as all the old material came down -- by 6pm you could not tell that any work had been done, they left the property spotless. We have a 10 year warranty on all labour, and peace of mind that we fixed out roof before it turned into a problem. This company knows what they are doing and they deliver what they promise.

New windows on 3rd floor of Victorian

10

A review for Sobol Inc.

Nov 02, 2010

We needed some new windows for the 3rd floor of our Victorian. I did lots of research including checking Homestars. I got Archie in for a quote. The quote was very fair and I felt like we were in safe hands. Archie was a pleasure to deal with and everything went smoothly. Everything was done as described and I do not hesitate to recommend Sobol Inc and Archie to anyone.

Company Response:

Dear Scott, Thank you very much for your review. It means a lot to me an my company. Hope one day we will meet in front mixing board. Best regards, Archie

Knob and Tube Rewiring of 1890's Home in Toronto

10

A review for KNT Electric

Sep 03, 2010

We recently bought a beautiful 1890's home, but for insurance purposes, were told we needed to have the whole thing re-wired. We were very nervous about this due to a) cost and b) concerns re: destructive work - we have original plaster moulding from when the home was build and didn't want to scar or hurt anything. From the moment I talked to Bill I felt like I was in safe hands. However to be prudent I met with and got estimates from others. We went with Bill and his crew and could not be happier. As you can see from the photos there was no damage to original plaster. In the old walls, they made careful incisions and then plastered afterwards. We also had pot lights installed, as well as a hardwired fire/carbon-monoxide system as well as new outside lights. Bill was always respectful, informative, and dependable. He is willing to come back to the house to do little things for you if you need anything adjusted or changed. When he came by recently at no charge to check something for us, he brought us a 12-pack of beer and his guys moved a piece of furniture for us. I recommend him in a heartbeat - your home will be in safe hands. No need to stress about the knob and tube. If you call him I'm willing to have him provide my number and speak with anyone who has questions about our project. Scott

Company Response:

Thank you for your review Scott. KNT Electric cares about our customer's property and being extra careful with your original plaster mouldings was something we took very seriously. We don't mind at all going the extra mile to get the job done right the first time. Sincerely, Bill (http://www.kntelectric.com)
