This was a project to tile a small front porch with slate. We've used Jerry's services before and have been satisfied with his work so we didn't expect any surprises. The work was done is about one day (though Jerry did come in later in the week to grout and then to seal). He was very responsive, always shows up on time and didn't hesitate to take on a very small job. Thank you Jerry.

Jerry had done 2 projects for us in a previous house and so we were familiar with Bathroom Specialists and chose them for a master ensuite renovation. While the reno took longer than we had expected, I am still giving Jerry a 10 here for a couple of reasons. Jerry is very patient, calm and will take the time to do the job the way you want it done and has no problem with putting in the extra effort to tweak or adjust something. Jerry also didnt nickel-and-dime us and happily did extra work that was not in scope. He returns calls promptly and will visit if asked even long after the job is complete and payment made. The pictures (1-3) attached speak for themselves.... As a complete afterthought, we spoke with Jerry about making our (plain) foyer a bit more interesting. We tossed ideas back and forth and finally settled on what you see in picture 4. Jerry's team did that in less than 2 days!

Naim has done several small jobs for us, both as a sub-contractor as well as a direct contractor. Naim was brought in to fix a previous electrician's shoddy work at one point as well. He has done interior lighting for us (installing pot lights, switches, outlets) as well as exterior lighting and hot-tub electrical hookup with ESA inspection. In all cases, Naim was friendly, accommodative and professional. He is also very cost-effective and a safe bet - he will do the right thing. Thanks Naim!

We needed to replace our attic insulation project. We chose Callrich based on a referral and found them to be extremely professional and competent. We received an estimate within 2 days or making the first phone call, and the work was completed a within a week of our first call. The old insulation was removed and disposed, and the new foam was sprayed on the next day. At all times, the crew maintained the cleanliness of the house and took special care to avoid making a mess. The owner (Rich) called me personally a day after the work was completed to get my feedback. Great service, great job!

Ours is a detached 2 storey house with a problem - the upper floor heated up during the summer months causing the a/c to run constantly. Although it ran constantly, the upper floor was never comfortable, and was sauna-like causing us to decamp to the basement. We had several suggestions to "fix" the problem, including a roofing contractor who convinced us to add 5 more vents to the roof to vent out hot attic air. Several hundred dollars later, there was absolutely no change. Reiner the reno coach then came in, measured the temperature in the attic on a warm day (65deg C, unbelievably), looked at the size of the a/c and the ducting system as well as the attic insulation before advising us to invest in reinsulating the attic. He provided a number of pointers, things to watch out for and companies for us to discuss with as well as an approximate cost. We took a leap of faith and engaged a contractor to insulate the attic (separate review follows) using eco-friendly foam. The results were night and day. We were so convinced we had to add additional airconditioning, it was amazing to solve the problem the "right" way that improved the value of the property as well as kept our energy bills down both in the summer and in the winter. Thank you Reiner!

Had a small job we wanted done - removal of old cabinets and appliances from our to-be-renovated kitchen. Andrew came in with a team that was on time (to the minute), efficient and did a very good job of leaving the place in a clean and pristine state. Would recommend Andrew for any jobs, big or small!

We engage Reiner the Reno Coach for a major and challenging kitchen reno. He patiently worked through our needs and with our contractor to arrive at the best possible design keeping both our needs as well as future resale value in mind. Given that a contractor will generally do what you the client ask him to do, it was extremely valuable for us to have someone to save us from ourselves! Being independent and not affiliated with any contractor, the reno coach is a much-needed service in the Toronto area and we would recommend without any hesitation whatsoever!

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Dont rely on your contractor alone for the best advice. Having an experienced and independent professional is great value for money and will likely represent only a small portion of the total project cost (maybe less than 3%?) - dont skip this step!

We found Brent Jeffreys here on Homestars and he had nothing but 10-star reviews. Now we know exactly why that is - Brent did a great, thorough, and very professional job in inspecting our future property. His report was detailed, he was very thorough in his inspection and took the time to point out not just what we should be aware of in the property, but a number of "best practices" as well. We would recommend Brent without hesitation - he certainly exceeded our expectations.

Company Response

Thank you for the feedback Madhu !!! It is much appreciated. Why do I promote Homestars? Unlike other directories, you have the luxury of reading true customer feedback regarding a company before calling them in. I personally don't know of any other directory like this. You had mentioned that I gave adivce and "best practices", some people think that an inspectors job is to simply go in and find a bunch of negitive things regarding the property. Good grief, talk about killing a dream home for someone. Although I must present all facts regarding the property, I also like to give all aspects informing you of the home. Good, bad, or somewhere in between. I truely want you to understand everything. If I can offer advice on certain issues, I like to present that as well. Remember, other tradespeople have something to sell, I don't. An inspectors opinion should be unbiased. Thanks again for the feedback, it was great meeting with you, and thank you for choosing Classic Home Inspections !!!

Ours was a fairly challenging job a wall had to be taken down, hvac and plumbing needed to be re-routed, new lighting installed as well as a complete new kitchen. The work was done in October 2003. As seen in the before/after picture posted, the results were spectacular and Reiner deserves the credit for advice on design, material selection as well as a job well-done. Would recommend Premier without hesitation.
