We are not very handy and the small jobs were piling up. Glen spent the morning installing smoke alarms,broken door knobs,and hanging several pieces of small art work. The crowning moment was the installation of our brushed nickel house number...something two others failed to do.( in fact one of the numbers was broken...and Glen fixed that! )We liked his cheerfulness,his ability to problem solve and the fact that he had a toolbox full of everything each job required.We are thrilled to have found someone of his calibre!

There is no need to travel to Toronto to find beautiful works of art- if you live in the GTA.I discovered this gem a year ago and have made it a destination. Owners Kelly and Susan are warm, welcoming individuals who truly love art-and graciously share their knowledge of both the artist and the work.They have an exciting roster of artists (painters and photographers) and will bring works to your home to try out.(How many businesses do this without obligation?)Their inventory includes some of the best talent in the country-and I have been very happy with my selections- whether they end up on a wall in my home -or as wedding or shower presents for a good friend. I also give Kelly and Susan high marks for their up-to-date website. Unlike some gallery sites- they include the price- which is typical of their direct and honest approach. They are very customer friendly-which is why art-lovers keep going back.

We clicked with Jeff immediately. Personable & honest: he conveyed a mix of confidence and concern( in a good way) We are relatively new to the renovation scene and had a very unpleasant experience with our first bathroom reno ( Opal Baths) I was terrified about having any more work done- but having found Homestars- began my search in earnest. Jeff was very collaborative( I wanted a specific tile for the shower and we went to more than one place to find it)It is good when a contractor doesn't feel 'beholden' to once source. Having said that- we looked to Jeff for products that were proven- and went with his suggestions for almost everything else.(Accessories stayed in my domain) Anyway, renovation is about the quality of work, not just selling a product.Employee Chris P. came into our home , and I can say without hesitation: wow! what a workhorse. He was here to get his hands dirty: not chat on the phone - or be driven by long breaks and lunchhours.He is a tall man and ripping out the ugly, outdated originals of this room must have seemed claustrophobic at times.But his strength was matched with his innate common sense: I liked the fact he was a problem solver- rather than ," oh well, we've got a schedule, let's just get this done " kind of attitude.He was also unfailingly pleasant and had a wonderful sense of humour. The other Chris,Jeff's son- also came in on a supervisory capacity and was wonderful to work with as well. The entire project took almost three weeks -and it shows! The room is just simply gorgeous.It is no surprise to me that Jeff scoops up accolades from his clients and peers. He is very protective of his reputation in an industry that sometimes has no sense of history. I also know that if a problem crops up down the road ( and in this case that is very unlikely) - Jeff will be honourable: he truly cares about the client long after the cheque has been cashed.

WE bought this house a year ago. The old door was boring with a barely functional screen door. I searched high and low for ideas- and finally found Statements- a local company. Salesperson Nancy DeSanti spent several hours with us- digitally offering us numerous door selections. After selecting THE ONE- we waited .The door was ready just as promised-and Peter and his crew spent most of the day installing it. I was truly impressed with their work ethic,diligence and respect for our property. They worked tirelessly,answered questions cheerfully,and left us truly thrilled with the final product and installation. The new door has transformed our home - and it definitely makes a statement. You couldnt ask for better customer service.

His father and team worked solidly in the scorching heat. They completed the work in said time;were patient with all our questions and welcomed our watchfulness. The flagstone has improved the appearance of our home: it has made us house proud!
