In October of 2018 we replaces our roof with a long time company. After the winter, just 5 months after install, we had a major leak in one section of the roof. The company who installed it did not take responsibility. It had to be fixed. We hired West oak roofing. They assessed the problem and very expeditiously came and replaced that section of the roof, examined the entire roof which they found sound and we have not had any problems since. What impressed me is the professionalism and trustworthiness of the owner Joe, as well as the diligence of the workers. I will highly recommend them.

Thank you for the kind words May. It was a pleasure to work with you.

Good installation of roof and it held up well during the latest wind stir. I rate it 3 because the workers did not clean the ton of shingle dust and it filled my eaves throughs. Thank God the window cleaners I've had for years, noticed it and took pictures. This way I quickly had the roof swept and eaves throughs cleaned. Thank God I found out before it was too late.

Not a good experience at all. Contacted the sales person, who no longer works there. The company called me and sent two gentlemen out to try to fix the problem. The touch ups were made worst. It looks like a home-made job. I gave them an opportunity to make it right but they failed the second time. The situation is getting worst and so I am stuck with it because there is no point in wasting my time with them again. I wish that I had never heard about them.

A few months ago I posted a review on the laundry room that Sky Kitchens did for me. (See pictures of the laundry room) I asked you to keep tuned as the entertainment project number 2 was in the works. Well, the entertainment unit is done! I will let you decide once you see the pictures. All I can say is WOW!. The owner, Sukh, takes all the time that is needed to come up with the design. Then he tweaks it to make sure that the customer is happy. There is one important factor that sets him apart from any other company that I have hired in the past. It is a very important element. As with everyone else, blips happen. When this happened all it took was to call Sukh and no matter how many times it took to make me happy, he came back. As a matter of fact, the crown moulding originally was at a slant. I simply hated it and thought that I had to bite the bullet and put up with it. Oh no! Sukh built me another one, which is a header rather than a crown moulding. Every time that there was an issue he personally came out from Mississauga to Oakville. Now, I say to you, stay tuned again for the third project....The kitchen! It is going to be a bit of a long wait because since the entertainment unit was done, two of my kids are getting married within the next year. Ouch for mom and dad!!!!

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Design work is just as important as the finished product. Make sure that you choose a company that has the knowledge and the technology to provide you with 3 'D' designs and are very proud of the work they produce. I have had many experiences whereby the company was here today and gone tomorrow. This company has been around for a long time. Just visit the showroom and you will see how serious this company is. Regardless, make a good decision and I agree that price is also important. However do not compromise the result for a small difference in price. I have learnt the hard way, over and over again that you get what you pay for. I also am not unseasoned so I do not pay more than I should either and Sky Kitchens is not the cheapest but are the most reasonable.

Michel, the owner of the company, matched and beat the price of another company. He installed 2 automated outdoor blinds around my back porch. They block the sun while allowing me to still see the outdoors. He came to my house as many times as needed to ensure that I was happy with the choice of the blind. He went above and beyond and made a small one for me to make sure that I could see it in its proper perspective. I am very pleased with the work of the installers he sent to me. Thank you Michel.

This is my second review for this company. Ian has been back a few times now, as we keep adding more and more pot lights, new electrical outlets for sconces, outdoor outlets for remotely operated blinds, clean-up from other electricians that he noticed were not appropriate and made sure that everything is to code. He is patient and very well learned in the sound systems and smart T.V. systems. He did all the electrical for the huge media centre that is coming in the end of this week. He offered to be here to ensure that he is the only one that manages the electrical, rather than the cabinet installers. He takes much pride in his work. Ian is never in a rush to get out. He does not waste time either. He is here when he says he will be. I would never use anyone else and would recommend him to anyone. You will not be sorry. Thank you once again Ian. You are invaluable to me and you shall be invaluable to those who have seen bad workmanship and will appreciate your good work ethic. May from Oakville.

Suk came out and designed it to perfection. He did not miss a beat. The quality is next to none. I just love it. The sub-contractor who fabricated the Caesar Stone did not do a good job. He came out himself and saw the defects right away and did right by me all the way. Most contractors will tell you that they do not see it. Sukh did not do that. The counter top was replaced. The installation went well. He came to inspect it and what he saw I had not noticed. However, he made it right. I am waiting to have the back splash installed and then I will post the pictures. So stayed tuned. Now he is working on my media centre. Wait till you guys see that. It will be installed on Sept 27.

Ian responded immediately. He is so professional. He gives the price over the phone for something as simple as the above. He came on the date and at the time he said. He went about his work diligently and left the place clean when he was done. He did not complain to us when he found a glitch in trying to fish the wiring. Nor did he ask for more money, such as other contractors do. He knows what he is doing and he is a great electrician. I will not hire anyone other than Ian.

The work is impeccable. The tiling was done to perfection and in no rush. The level was used constantly. The grouting done to perfection. They cleaned up after themselves and left the garage cleaner than they found it! I have never had tiling done and not have had to get down on my hands and knees to clean after grouting. They did it. They are professional and the interaction was pleasant. They work non-stop and...are not on their cell phones. They did not complain about what they found when they lifted the Monarch builder laid tiles. Most contractors will go on a song and a dance just to try and charge you more. They showed us and that was it. They figured it out. I shall be hiring them again in a month's time to do the back-splash and to replace the laundry room door and later on to replace the tile in foyer and front bathroom. Chris, Josh and Jerret thank you so very much. May Camilleri from Oakville.

Monarch Homes advertises their excellence in customer quality and the quality of the homes they build. Let me assure you that we spent two years with them coming back and forth and still major issues were never corrected. Let us not even discuss Tarion cause they come to your home and tell you that unless they can notice it from 4 feet away, it is not a problem. Don't forget that the supervisor who comes to your home from Tarion is in his late fifties and of course at that age, as all of us in that age category will agree, there is much and much that we miss from 2 feet away, never mind 4 feet away. The oak staircase was redone four times and each time we had to clear the kitchen, great room and the loft cause it is an open concept bungalow with a loft. Therefore all furniture had to be squeezed into the front room and the dining room. All drapes and blinds removed each time. The second time took the three months of the summer from start to finish. Imagine all summer living in that condition. We also did not have a bannister for that length of time. They made us sign a waver that they are not responsible for our safety. We had no choice if we wanted the job to be repaired. Tarion does not get involved at that time you see. The fourth time it was done by an outside company who claimed to be the best. They are good but since the stairs could not be stripped down completely to virgin wood, after a year and a half it is peeling again. Every time we complained to Monarch they sent an army of people from Head Office who told us that they could not see anything wrong even though it was right in their face. Finally, after much complaining from my end, they sent someone who could actually see and agree to what was wrong. The marble they use around the shower stalls and around the fireplaces, are standard, however the marble is not polished. It is completely dull. Every builder has quirks. However when the people representing the builder are dishonest and try to use trickery, that is when one should draw the line.

Paul Muir gave us a quote and was friendly yet not pushy. When our neighbours and I hired him, he came by promptly with his characteristic smile on his face. He gave us each an separate contract with our own separate amount, which others just bundle into one and the neighbous have to figure out who owes what. The date he said to start was the day they showed up. The installer of the fence is the brother of the owner. He is so good at what he does. You really need someone like that when it comes to a wrought iron fence cause one miscalculation could send everything off track. It was installed meticulously. I was in the process of deciding whether or not to do the decorative concrete this year of next year. The installer left the perfect proper amount off the ground to make sure that it would not be too high or too low from the concrete. That tells you right there what a master he is at his job. Money was not collected till a week after they finished. It gives you time to inspect it at your leisure. When Paul Muir came around to collect he had the invoice ready and it was not hand written. He sent an e-mail telling us what a pleasure it was working with us. I would recommend Maximum Fence to anyone. Please note that their prices are compatible or better than their competitors and at times even less than the Joe Blows who are fly by nights owning their own business.
