We ruined our brand new carpet by dropping a hot iron on it, and in the middle of the floor no less. Victorious Carpet came out and fixed it brilliantly. I can see the patch, but that is only because I know exactly where to look, and even then it took me a few minutes to locate it. No one else would ever know the carpet had been repaired in that spot. They also re-stretched the entire room and did some other repairs. I was extremely happy with their work and would absolutely use them again.

Hi Ann,
Always a great pleasure to service an repetitive customer. Thank you again for your business.

I lost my furnace during a massive flood in July. Roely came and assessed the situation and made a recommendation for a small high efficiency furnace that we could put on concrete blocks to get it off the floor to protect it from any future flooding. He and his son-in-law Sebastian did a great installation, and also replaced all of the basement ductwork, adding two new ducts to the upper floor of the house. My house has never been so warm. Better than that, I have even lowered my heat by a full 5 degrees, so the changes I made will pay for themselves within a year or two. Roely is an honest, family man who is highly skillful at his craft (I don't believe the other two negative reviews of him that I saw on this site). He charges fair prices, shows up when he says he will and does a professional job. I trust him completely and wouldn't hesitate to use him again, though I doubt I will need to.

Like many other Torontonians, I have been forced to buy my hot water heater from Direct Energy in the wake of the recent floods. Despite having paid $25 a month for this tank for the past 7 years...and having paid for the tank at least twice over, Direct Energy is still charging me $775 to buy it out. I don't mind buying it out. That seems reasonable. It is their property and it was destroyed. However, you can buy a brand new hot water heater for $400-$900. They are charging me the cost of a brand new hot water heater (though of course they deny that!). Their treatment of me has been appalling. I believe Direct Energy is just using the floods as a way to cash in on their rapidly decreasing market share. Be very very careful. This company will take you for whatever they can.

Hi Ann,
When you agreed to rent your water heater you were provided with the Terms and Conditions that outlined that you are responsible for damage by flood, fire or other insurable risks. This is a standard clause that has been in our agreements for many years. This is not something we forced on homeowners affected by the flood. It is very clearly written in the agreement. Homeowners whose tanks were damaged need to include the buy-out amount in their insurance claims, if their insurance claim is denied, we will work with homeowners to come to a favourable settlement. Your allegation of Direct Energy using the flood to cash in on people’s misfortunes is completely false. We waived all call-out fees for homeowners in affected areas and we are exchanging tanks older than ten years old free of charge. We've been working with thousands of customers affected by the flooding and have received very positive feedback from our customers. If you'd like, please send us your personal information and one of our senior team members will contact you to discuss this further.

I used Mud Monkeys approximately 4 years ago following a massive and devestating flood in my basement which revealed ongoing seepage issues and structural issues with my foundation. Darby was so wonderful and kind and professional, especially at a time when I was pretty upset. The work his crew did was fantastic. It involved repairing the concrete, installation of a new weeping tile, and waterproofing. I also had Darby install an internal weeping tile system for another part of the basement. It held up during these most recent floods. I had absolutely no seepage in the part of the basement waterproofed by Darby and his team. I did have flooding, but it came from other sources, and when we took out the walls, the other contractors commented on the high quality of work done by Mud Monkeys. I was told they had used the highest quality barriers and insulation. I really do recommend Mud Monkeys. I would trust them with anything.

I had a wonderful experience with Ambia Windows and Doors, and I highly recommend them. Tony was kind, efficient and professional, and Eugene, the installer, was the same. The windows themselves are very high quality and considered the best in the business (I did my research). I can honestly say that of all the contractors I have dealt with in my years of home ownership, Ambia Windows and Doors were the best. I’m pretty sure my property value immediately increased to completely cover the costs of the windows and more. Neighbours were stopping by to tell me my house (which is over 100 years old) has never looked better. Truly, this was a great experience. I wish all contractors were like this.

I hired Mud Monkeys to install an interior weeping tile system in part of my basement (to compensate for poor work done by another contractor). They were quick, clean, efficient, and excellent. I have no more water problems. I completely trust their workmanship and their 25 year warranty. They really are excellent.

Cozy World was one of three contractors I asked to quote on the job of installing a new furnace. Their quote was $2500 less than the others and came with a more extensive warranty, and a warranty that did not have to be attached to a "service package" in order to be valid. Boris was extremely professional and helpful, explaining everything to me in clear and respectful terms. He had no interest in gimmicks. The energy audit company he recommended was non-profit, meaning they were simply there to do the audit and did not try to sell me any other contracting services. The workmanship was quick, efficient and excellent. I strongly recommend Cozy World.

I asked Valentin to replace a sump pump. He was kind, professional, completely respectful, and extremely efficient. He took pains to ensure the workplace was clean and tidy both during and after his work. He was also very willing to stand by the quality of both his products and his workmanship by offering an above average warranty. I would absolutely use Valentin again.

I have worked with Mud Monkeys on two occasions. The first was last year when I was looking for a waterproofing company. Darby was very busy at the time and I was anxious to get the job done, so I went with another company. This other company was so bad that I actually called Darby mid-way through the project for advice and assistance. He willingly provided this, without charge, and it was invaluable. This year I hired Mud Monkeys to waterproof a small section of my basement not completed by the other company. Darby came out quickly and gave me a quote and the guys were there within a week. The quote was more than reasonable. The guys showed and explained their work to me every day, they were quiet, clean and professional and I would hire them again without hesitation.

I called Pesticon to have wasps removed from my fence and deck area. Ahmed called me back within 2 minutes of receiving my message - on a Sunday night! He came by at 8 am the next morning and took care of everything. Then he waited 4 days to organize payment - to ensure the wasps did not return. Throughout all of this, he was exceptionally kind and professional. This is the best customer service I have ever experienced. He is absolutely wonderful.

I called Roy to assess the state of my home's basement drains after a flood and sewer back up. Of all the various insurance people and contractors who had looked at my home, Roy was the most helpful. He located the drains, which others had not been able to do, was able to provide a clear statement, in writing, about the nature of the storm and sewer system and provide a clear recommendation for my insurance company about work needing to be done. He gave me good advice not only about my drains but also about my weeping tile and foundation, and his assessment of the situation has turned out to be the right one. Personable and professional, he was more than willing to go above and beyond for me.
