To start with, I’d like to say that I do like my kitchen and the quartz I purchased. The installation team did a fairly decent and prompt job. For that, I’d definitely give the installation team to whom Sky Kitchen has outsourced the job to, an 8 or 9 out of 10. However, what I was not a great fan of is how the deal went down and that is the only reason why my rating goes down to a 5. While shopping around for the quartz countertop, the 3 other places we also got the quotes from calculated a total area of 37 sq ft. Sky kitchen gave us an estimate for 45 sq ft. When I called them up to ask about it, a little bit of re-calculation made it 43 sq ft. I still was not convinced (how could 3 other companies and my husband and I who individually calculated the sq footage be wrong?) but decided to go ahead with the process as I was told (I repeat, I confirmed this specifically) that this was the just an “estimate” based on the approximate measurements provided to them and that the actual price would be based on the actual measurements done by them. This was the only reason I went ahead with the deal, as I was pretty sure the number could not possibly be more than 37 or a 38. I also did a 50% down payment before the measurements were taken (stupid call). A couple of days after the measurements were taken I asked them to share the square footage and measurements information, which they firmly refused to share. My husband then spoke to the manager or whoever was higher up to the lady I was speaking to. He now said that the initial estimate is the final price and they can't explain the measurement/square footage information to the client (If there was nothing to hide, then why?). However, they were willing to reimburse the deposit minus the cost for doing the measurements, which I guess, would have been a couple of hundred dollars. For the amount of energy we spent to narrow down a place to do the counter top and the money I was trying to save (37 vs the 43 sq ft), it just was not worth scraping the work and so we went ahead with the job. I do like the end result but it always will remind me of the unprofessional way the deal worked out. Be aware that the initial 'estimate' is their floor price, it can only go up from there. The price they quote per sq ft maybe low making you think you're getting a good deal, but the mysterious total sq ft measurement will very well increase the final price you'll end up paying.

Thank you for your review. I would like to note that the 43 SF was our initial estimate based on your supplied drawings. Final measure from a trained installer always ensures accuracy. At the time of project commencement, our templated measure is actually what dictates the final price tag. Installers charge for: measure, square footage, material shipment, cutting and polishing and install. The cost of this product/service that was agreed upon and covered all of these aspects. Sometimes company's may quote on a basic square footage, however, when you sign up with them, additional fees apply in the end. Our price was set from the very beginning.
