I had issues with the furnace not coming on during the winter and had Always come out to make repairs and recommendations. They were so polite, clean, and courteous I was very impressed. The whole image of this company and their employees is amazing. We were up and running in no time and not freezing.

I've had Danny and his team clear out drains in several rental suites and houses. Always prompt, clean (yes, even with this dirty work they are very careful to clean), and courteous. They always scope the drain and use nothing but the best equipment so that they can properly diagnose what's happening in your drains. I have tried others and most do not scope unless you pay much more and then the quality of images is not very good. I can't say enough what a great family-run business this is.

Hi Darryn, thanks for the review, I appreciate it! I presume "Magee" was meant to be "made"! If you ever need anything in the future, please let me know.

I had Scott renovate a condo for me which included flooring, baseboards, paint, and new toilet and door knobs. He is new in my network but I was very impressed! I can be picky with the small details especially when it comes to things I think contractors should know, and I had absolutely no issues with Scott's work. I highly recommend him for any Renos you need!

I have had Rob and his electricians doing work for me for years, and most of the time absolutely no issues. When there is an issue, he takes it seriously and it shows that he cares a lot about the quality of service. This time they were replacing a couple of ceiling fans for a tenant, and everything went well. I asked the tenant and she confirmed that the service was excellent and everything was left tidy.

I just required a new run from the furnace to an additional vent in a bedroom. Brandie was out quickly to quote, and they had the work done on time. Cost was lower so I didn't get an exact quote as it was based on time spent and materials. Everything went well and the work area was kept clean.

I called Norman and he provided a reasonable quote to remove a 25ft spruce and dead birch tree from the front lawn of a duplex. They cut and ground the stumps as expected. They also removed some surface roots. No problems at all. Polite and arrived on time.

I called after reading some other reviews that noted the highest-rated painters locally are hard to get ahold of and to call you back. I tried one in the evening and had no answer or even voice mail, so I tried Spencer at Pro Painters Group, and he answered and was able to come out to quote the next day. The quote was well-explained and he even threw in a bit of work at no extra charge. I had him paint the basement floor, as well as all interior walls, doors, and ceiling of a 3-bedroom rental property. He had it done within 1 week and everything went well. The place was kept clean and he was polite and courteous to let my next door neighbor know what was going on as there would be a bit of noise. The paint job was very good quality and I'll be calling him again in the future!

When I received a call from my tenant with concerns about a wet bedroom carpet in a basement suite, and possible mold I was quite concerned. After checking for recommendations on Homestars, it seemed that Canadas Restoration Services was worth a call. I have never used this type of service before so I wasn't sure what to expect, but Gabriel and the crew were on it within a couple of days (due to tenant schedule and we did seem to catch it early so there was not an urgent need for this small job). Everything was handled professionally and my tenants were happy with how they were taken care of. Sometimes tenants bring these type of things up at move out time if their damage deposit is in peril to threaten, but with CRS and their credentials I don't think this will be a concern. I will not hesitate to call them again if the need arises.

I recently had a hot water tank spring a leak and the tenants were without hot water tank on one of the coldest days of the year so far. After a few calls to other contractors, it sounded like they would not have hot water until after the weekend. I talked to Joy at Young Guns and she was able to set up a replacement for the same day. Chad came out to replace the tank and was very friendly and professional. He was also patient to explain what additional requirements there would be if I had them install a larger tank or change the location as I had originally hoped. While I just replaced witht the same size tank as was existing, at least I know what to expect when I am ready to change the location when the furnace is replaced in the next few years.

I went to them back in April of this year for new countertops for a rental property kitchen that was well overdue for an update. I had put this off as I had thougt it would be much more expensive. They had a decent laminate with a stone look and I was very happy with their service and the final product. The new tenants were also very happy with the look.

I called this company since they had such good reviews on HomeStars. I have mixed feelings about this company and I know it differs from many reviews on this site, so here are the facts: -Competitively-priced, quoted quickly and professionally -Installation scheduled fairly quickly - next week I believe -Installation not done as per my requests for routing of piping (see explanation below) -installation seemed to be of good quality -furnace stopped working a week or two later due to a wire shorting to the thermostat (they came out fairly quickly and were responsive and effective) -had to make followup requests to ensure my air miles were credited as promised (still not on my account but I believe it is in progress after speaking with the office - she was friendly and helpful) -have made many requests for them to at least drop off the CO detectors promised as part of the quote (Dave promised on several occasions that it would happen by certain dates which have passed but it is now a month and a half after install and no sensors) He had originally said these were included at no extra charge to ensure my tenants were safe and meeting code. The way I see it, if you promise something you need to deliver. Now for a little detail on my special requests for the installation piping. Since I have a home that was built in 1969, it had an old furnace that vented through a roof chimney. I wanted to use this existing chimney as I don't really like having more piping and holes cut in the side of the house. I was advised by Dave that this was not an option and to meet code you need to vent out the side wall. OK, that is fine as long as it is done cleanly and professionally. I knew that they would want to vent out the side of the house since it is the most direct route. However, the side of the house has a sidewalk which is right up against the house. With kids and tenants potentially knocking into piping, it would need to be fairly low profile. Dave said it would stick out several inches, so I suggested the back of the house instead. He said no problem. I had agreement verbally and then followed up with an email beforehand to be sure. They installed it out the side anyway. See the first picture for how it was done to see how much it stuck out. I contacted Dave and he apologized for the "miscommunication" and that they would be out in a couple of weeks to re-route. No problem. Mistakes happen. Too bad I will have extra holes in the side of the house but not too upset about it as long as they seal it back up as best as possible. See the 2nd picture for how this was done. Not great -- Dave said they would actually put a vent as it would look nicer and they would close off the pipe nicely. Hmmm - do you think it looks ok? I am on the fence on this. The re-routing of the pipe was done so as not to hang too low and I think it turned out ok. Until it gets to where it exits the side of the house. First, I have attached the pictures showing how they have blocked the window from any chance of ever being opened again, and the second picture shows that they would have needed to just route it a couple of feet to the right to have a clear spot. If there is a good reason I would have appreciated a call to go over any issues they had during the install. Although I could not be on-site at the time, I did leave them my phone number and I was sure to be by the phone just in case. No calls. The last picture shows a pipe that sticks out the back of the house at least 1 foot long. We'll see how well that stands up to kids and mowing the lawn etc. I would have thought they would do the same S-pipe setup as they did at the side of the house. I asked Dave and he said this is just the way it's supposed to be. Hmm? Never seen this on the side of any house before, but I am no expert in venting codes. What do you think? I invite Reliance the Furnace Company to discuss my concerns. Not sure what can be done at this point. I really don't want anymore holes in my walls. And I am a pretty busy guy -- I don't have the time or energy to be hounding contractors for CO detectors or air miles, or re-doing things. If things are not installed exactly as I would want, due to codes or whatever, I am ok with that as long as it is communicated upfront. As you may recall, I was sure to stay by the phone in case they had any issues. For future jobs, I may consider having them quote. As I said, they were friendly and had a decent price. I gave them many opportunities to correct mistakes, but I don't feel as though "the voice of the customer" & communication is given proper attention.

Last year I went to Wolseley for a hard-to-find kitchen sink and have gone to them in previous years whenever I need a hard-to-find item that the regular retail stores do not have. They are very knowledgeable and when I had the sink ordered I received it within a week and it was exactly what I had expected.

I stop by here all the time to check out what they have, as it varies quite a bit from month to month. Prices are reasonable and I have saved hundreds of dollars over the last few years on the few key items which I purchased. I end up doing more browing than buying but it's those occasional gems. For example, I saved several hundred dollars on a nice screen door which was the exact size I was looking for, which can be a challenge for an older property.

After reading the great reviews here I decided to try Dust Queen as the maid service I have been using for years just was not working out. The price was reasonable and the cleaning was quite thorough. They mistakenly cleaned one area that they were not supposed to, and missed cleaning the windows even though I specifically asked they be cleaned, so in the end it was not a bad experience. The new tenant was quite happy. I will give them a try next time and see how it goes. They were able to come out with only a couple of days notice which was very helpful to get ready for the new tenant.

Darryn, Feedback such as yours from our clients is always very much appreciated. I understand the move out service was provided on October 3 and we did a follow up call on October 4 to ensure your satisfaction. It was mentioned our staff missed one of the 3 windows. Not sure how to explain this unless the window was higher than the other two. Dust Queen has a height restriction which prevents the staff from completing items over a certain height. I will look into this further and provide you with a better explanation. I looked into your work order and noticed it was requested for "top to bottom clean". The sales associate didn't record specific areas not to be cleaned, but did a list of priority items. The field staff took upon themselves while they were still within the estimated time frame of their quote, to clean the areas not on your priority list. We look forward to the opportunity of serving you again and in the future your file will be specific to your requirements. We very much want you to feel comfortable in awarding 10 stars to Dust Queen Maid Service on your next service.

I had Neal and the crew come out in September of 2012 to remove a large tree that was beginning to lift a sidewalk. They came out within a couple of days of me calling them. They had a reasonable price compared to others. They were very quick (completed the job before other competitors had even quoted). In the tight space they had to deal with overhead lines and a shed, so that the tree had to be taken down in pieces and in a very confined area -- no damage to the shed or fence or power lines! And they only left a bit of mulch which actually worked quite well. Very impressed.

I have been calling Ted for many years now when I need rental property carpets cleaned. He does an excellent job and very responsive. I also have him come out when my residence carpet needs cleaning and trust him fully. On the last job I had issues where the carpet must have been extra dirty so once it dried there were still marks. He came out at no charge and made it right.

I required some window cleaning at a rental duplex which consisted of approximately 10-11 windows. Michael quoted a reasonable price and they did a very good job on the windows. Many windows had to be taken out and cleaned individually, both sides. The tracks also needed cleaning. The only concern I had (and to be fair I did not followup with Michael on this) was that the carpet in one room seemed dirty afterwards and one bare concrete floor under a window seemed to have some dirt left behind. I would expect that if there was any dirty coming off the windows that the floor would be checked to be sure it's left the way it was originally. There is a possibility the dirt was left behind by another contractor but it seemed to be right under the two windows where noone else should have been working. I will call 5-Star again next time I need window cleaning. Also very quick response which is necessary when dealing with getting units ready for new tenants.

I noticed this company doing work on a neighboring house and was impressed by the cleanliness and professional attitude of the workers. I then hired them this summer for re-roofing a couple of duplexes. I have no regrets and went up to check out the work and was pleasantly surprised. Not one exposed nail head, not one loose nail left on the roof or gutters. In fact it looked like they cleaned out the gutters for me! On the ground I think I found one nail in a flowerbed after searching and searching. They also used boards when driving on the lawn to prevent damage. On the second job they hired a bin and that company did leave some dents in the lawn so please check to be sure to check if they are getting a bin or the truck. They did leave a bit of debris on the 2nd job but Jody was quick to send the crew back to make everything right. Overall a great experience and the prices were very competitive. The tenants were also very happy.

I had Dwights come out and re-roof our house that was built in 1992 and was less than impressed. The quoting process went well and when they did the job they did it in the amount of time they said they would. The crew seemed ok and the roof looked good from down on the ground. However, the trouble came when it first rained. Water was pouring into our attached garage. They came and fixed it but not sure of the details of what they had to do. It has now been approximately 3-4 years since the job was completed, and recently water has started leaking into the garage again. I checked it out myself and found that they left a big gap where they cut the flashing next to the outside wall and did not put in a new piece as they should have -- I have done this myself and it doesnt leak anymore. Another issue we had came up a few weeks after the first. Water was leaking down through an interior wall and into the basement near the furnace. They came out and apparently just gobbed on silicone everywhere hoping that would work. It did not. After several calls they were saying that our house wasn't built right and that there should be a "cricket" to channel water away from the chimney. However I know that there are many houses built this way and we had never had a leak and the house was 20+ years old. I pulled apart the siding and checked out the flashing and found that they had punctured it with a nail, allowing water in. If they had bothered to investigate further they would have found this. I fixed it and have not had a leak since. As well, many nail heads were left exposed and they promised to come back in the spring to seal them but I never heard from them again and was not thrilled about them touching my roof anymore. Afterwards, I also realized that they had left the old plumbing vents even though i paid for new ones to be installed. We also found handfuls of nails in the flowerbeds and surrounding areas for weeks after the install. I gave them many opportunities to address the problem and they chose to ignore it and say that it was the builder's fault.
