A review for Alberta Furnace Cleaning
We have had Alberta Furnace Cleaning clean our furnace and vents 3 times now. The technicians are always respectful of your home and do a throrough job. Of course they are trained to try and sell you something extra like a super duper furnace filter but they don't push too hard. We also appreciate that they frequently have coupons or package deals available.

When we first set out to find a chimney cleaning company we didn't know where to start and pretty much chose Chim-Chimney for their fun name. It turned out to be a great choice. We have had them come in and clean our chimney 3 times now and they have always been great. They have always been on time, done a very good, quick & clean job, never leaving any trace of mess. A review for Barcol Doors & Windows
After a less than spectacular experience with a different window and door company for the first half of our house we wanted to go with someone else for the 2nd half. We did our homework and listened to referrals and recommendations and then decided on Barcol. What should have been one installation date turned into 5 or 6 seperate times that someone had to be home to meet the installers and then the repair crews. First, they didn't bring the doors when they brought the windows , then they brought the main door but discovered the storm door hadn't been ordered yet, then they had to come do some repairs to scratched glass panes and window frames, one of the windows leaked because they missed a step in the install (which lead to us having to pull up carpet, clean up the water that leaked from the mainfloor window into the basement, be home yet again for someone to replace the damaged drywall, and then paint the room). Then they decided to charge our balance to the credit card we used for our deposit, without a heads up they were going to - after the installer didn't take our check because the work wasn't yet complete. That was a $4800 charge we weren't expecting to see on our credit card statement. The only saving grace in the end was that they actually addressed our problems and offered some compensation, which is more than I can say for the first company we dealt with.0 of 0 people found this review helpful.
A review for Sears Canada Inc. - Southgate
After meeting with and receiving quotes from a few different roofing companies we decided to go with Sears. The products from most were very comparible but for the type of shingle we wanted and the other work to be done on the roof the price was best through Sears Home Services. As well, we felt confident going with them as they are are a reputable company. They also offered a great interest free financing program and the saleman we met with was great - very informative, knowledgable and to the point, yet not at all pushy or trying to sell us something we didn't want. A review for Durabuilt Windows & Doors
We had Durabuilt replace 1/2 of the windows and doors in our home a few years ago. We decided on them based on their product and price (both somewhat middle of the road compared with other companies) and their reciept of the Consumer Choice award for many consecutive years. Overall, in the end we were happy with the quality of the windows and doors but not thrilled with the customer service - we had issues with them "forgetting" to actually make the windows and therefore not showing up on install day. We had a few additional items we wanted addressed and when we attempted contacting them we received little or no reponse. As I said though, in the end the product was good and after dealing with a few more contractors since then they aren't the worst out there.
