Here is a summary of my experience with Wow 1 Day Painting 1. I booked the initial appointment - left work early - got home and waiting and waiting - finally phoned company 1/2 hour after the appointment was booked. I was informed that the person that was supposed to meet me and give me a quote had forgotten. Quite honestly, in hindsight, at this point I should have just cancelled and moved onto another company - but I agreed to re-book for the following Monday. 2. George came the following Monday - we did a walkthrough of both the front porch and the back deck. I was VERY Clear about what I expected and wanted. George said that the front posts would be sanded and painted - we talked about the quality of the paint. I clearly stated that I wanted this to look really good - he said that they would be using the highest quality of paint. I had powered washed the front of the house - when George said that they could power wash the back - I was clear that it needed to be done as well as the front. We talked about the stain colour - I actually gave him the exact colour and brand that I wanted. George was a good salesman - I was quite hopeful that the job would be done well. 3. I accepted the quote - Based on the understanding that the front rails would be sanded and painting and that the posts, risers, and top of the posts would be painted white - and that the railings and bottom of porch would be stained the colour I picked. I have to admit that I never told George that the unpainted cedar needed to be primed and painted - I assumed that as your company was a professional painting company that you would know this. I feel that i did make it clear to George that I did expect a professional out come. I did mention second coats - but was really only referring to the stain I believe - not the painted bits. As in the quote - George did not discuss how many coats of paint at all. 4. On the Friday before the job was supposed to happen George then sent me a colour chart for the stain - I explained to him that there was no way that I could pick a colour over email - and that I had already given him the colour that I wanted. I offered to just get the stain - he agreed - so I purchased on the weekend. He took some money of the quote and resent. 5. The same Friday was supposed to be power washing day. George called me in the afternoon - tell he that he had good news and bad news . There was no good news - he basally told me that the project manager - who I learned after was Eric - has said that the deck needed to be power sanded at a cost of $9000. He started breaking down the man hours - but they did not really make sense. On a side note - I got a person around this weekend to quote on power sanding the deck - the quote was substantially less! I was worried about the power washing and not sure what was going on - so I left work early - went home and was incredibly disappointed about the job that Eric was doing with the power washing. I spent all day Saturday power washing the deck. I realize that Eric says that he did his best - but honestly - there were areas that he did not power wash at all. I realize that it was a big power washing job - and it did take me about 4 to 5 hours - but I thought that is what George had quoted on. Basically the way that Eric was power washing was just spraying water - totally not effective - and expensive as we have to pay for water in Toronto. I realize at this point that I should have cancelled any further work with this company - but I had turned down two other painting quotes - and I was now running out of time. 6. The paint job on the front cedar - was not primed - and the colour of cedar was bleeding through. When I called the company and Brent the owner came to the house - I actually could not believe his attitude. It really was not a lot of painting to make it better and he basically argued with me until he saw the quote which did not say anything about how many coats. He was arguing that his company only does two quotes - but really should a professional company not know about Cedar and priming - and also should it not also be about doing a good job? Maybe there are spots that need a bit more - but as a professional company isn't it worth it to leave a customer happy??? Basically this company is just in it for a cash grab - the quote process was mis-managed and this was reflected in the work. 7. I was told that it would be Wednesday when Eric would come back and repaint the cedar posts, above the posts and the stair risers. I had to phone the company on Thursday night and figure out what was happening. Then on Friday when I got home - it did not look finished. When the owner came by with Eric he said that he had done one side of the posts and above the posts. Why would he not do the WHOLE post?????????? He said that I had said not to do the risers - this WAS NOT TRUE. I actually said they had to be redone. Also - it is very very very obvious that they did not prime and then paint the cedar. I have had a professional painter in this weekend who is going to fix up the font paint job for me. I made it clear that the front of the house was really important to me. 8. I was also very clear with this team about how to use the stain. It is a very high end stain - they did not put it on correctly - I told them not to use rollers - and that they needed to spread it out - not to stain over. In any case - It was a crap job - but I can live with it as it just the back deck. 9. They did not sand the posts as George said they would at the front of the house. 10. It was not a high end white paint used at the front of the house. Overall this has been a completely negative experience. I really wish that this was not the case. I just wanted a good exterior paint job for my house. This was a negative experience from beginning to end. And the saddest part is that I now have a front deck and back deck that need to be fixed up because of this companies lousy job. Also - after all of this - they have not offered me any compensation. The owner did ask what they could do to make it better. Short of repainting the whole job - there really is not anything - and quite honestly as I explained to the owner - as they have argued with me about the work - I just want them out of my life. In summary I would say - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
