We ran into a contractor that steered us in the wrong direction on a waterproofing job to our 1880's row house. The house has a dug out basement that was benched and we were advised by another company that we should waterproof the outside down to the original footing (with no solution for the sunken benched basement). Vincent and Domenic came in and spent some time carefully surveying the situation. They told us that the only solution to waterproof our house was from the inside. It was so refreshing to see this consultative, customer first approach. While we aren't using them on this job, we will definitely be calling should we require waterproofing/masonry work again. Very helpful, knowledgable team…. Strongly recommend them!! By the way..the $25 was value of the thank you gifts we provided them for their outstanding service!

Thanks Ben! Waterproofing can be tricky; interior or exterior (or both)
are used according to the specific requirements of each job. It's
important to provide the right solution, and I'm glad we could! --Andy

HotWire helped us to quickly resolve an issue with our homes mast that was under a work order from Toronto Hydro after the July 19th storm in downtown Toronto. Hanna was able to efficiently and effectively quote, schedule the ESA (minor miracle), and get a crew to help me out in 24 hours...simply amazing. Grant and Adam came in on time on Friday morning and demonstrated true professionalism is completing the job efficiently and effectively. They took the time to take me through exactly what they were doing and showed incredible respect to me and my home. Hanna was even able to accomodate my request to pay via an email transaction (versus a cheque)... I would absolutely recommend you use HotWire Electric-All for your next project...

Last year we have the guys from Central Tree Care in twice. The first time was to extract a tree on our neighbour's property that was leaning on our house and the second was to trim a tree in our backyard. The tree in our backyard is a tree of heaven (not at all deserving of that name). It has dropped a couple of branches onto our neighbor's property and we wanted to mitigate the damage. With the recent weather...more branches dropped from the tree. The guys at CTC came by after we asked them to come in and assess the tree again and decided on there own accord that they would come back and remove some more branches. They didn't charge us...they just wanted to make it right. This is how a business should be run. I expect we will be customers for life...

The true test of a good company is deciding to use them in the first place and then based on that experience, using them again. Arthur, "The Roof Whisperer", came in (again) to solve a challenge on our roof. He found a way to solve a $6,000 spray foam insulation/drywall roof job with an ingenious solution to vent our 3rd floor roof (approved by our engineer no less). The 3 person crew (including Arthur) executed the job quickly and cleanly... We will use these guys again and again...

Hey Ben!

I agree having expertise in solving difficult problems can be hard to find in the roofing industry. We are blessed to have such a capable talent such as Arthur on Team Fixer! I am happy to hear you will use us again and again!

We bought our house in May of 2010. It was completely gutted and rebuilt by a home builder...so we thought we wouldn't run into any issues with the house for awhile. Low and behold about 1 month ago we had a leak on our second floor roof. I tried to repair it myself, but the job was far beyond my capability. I had 4 roofing companies in...including a company I had worked with before. We chose Fixer-on-the-roof because they had expertise in the area (including homes like ours), because they responded to a general post I put up on Homestars, they were great to deal with (both Trish and Arthur were a pleasure), and I genuinely felt like they would do the best job. They did...and I will absolutely use them again.

Thank you Ben,

We love complex roofing systems! When we get to repair siding, flat roof and shingles it is a bonus. Many people do not realize that the whole exterior needs to all be tied in for a truely water tight exterior. Your home is beautiful..thanks for letting me sneak through.

take care

This was the first time I used a mover (after many years of breaking my friend's backs and rewarding them with pizza and beer)... All in all it was a good experience. The crew was efficient, ensured that our belongings were safely stored, and handled the 3 pick-up location variable with total ease. I can't say that I was blown away, but it was a good experience. I would consider using them again...

We bought a completely remodelled house that was roughed in for CAC. The initial quoting process was enough to tell you that these guys know what they are doing. From calling the manufacturer of our furnance for some information, to fully inspecting the installation site, to providing the right solution to meet our needs...these guys raise the bar. We even had a wrinkle where the roughed in wiring wasn't connected...they found a solution for this in less than 1 hour. A first class operation all the way...would definitely use these guys again!

We bought a completely renovated home in May that was absent all window furnishings. We found Kingsway on homestars.ca and decided to check them out. The experience all the way from visiting their showroom to the installation was handled well. They went aove and beyond with providing temporary blinds for us until the real ones arrived and worked quickly to correct a minor issue with a pair of the shutters we purchased...

I have not had a worse experience with a contractor. The gentleman that came to my house to close holes in my front roof (squirrel issue) and fix the insulation and close the door to the crawl space (raccoon issue) under my back room has still yet to finish the job! It was paid for in September 2007! He told me he couldn't complete the insulation work under the back room at the time due to rain? It has been over 2.5 years and I am still waiting for him to come back and complete the job... What a joke!

We were looking for a cost effective way to update our kitchen...we decided on refacing the cabinets, getting a few new ones installed, replacing the countertop and sink and installing a new backsplash. Canlik came in with a reasonable price to complete the work and were able to execute on our timelines. Would absolutely recommend using them...

Upon receiving a recommendation from an old neighbour, I contacted Keith at Star Delta and had him come in to quote on a new flat roof, a new roof over my mud room, and some new fascia board on the second story of my home. I made the decision to go with Star Delta based on price, the fact that they were able to complete the job in the time window I was looking for, and upon a few recommendations. The job was completed professionally, on-time, and within budget. I would use Star Delta again.

We used Brad back in 2003 to renovate 2 bathrooms in our first house. He came recommended by our real estate agent. Brad came in with a fair price, listened to what we were looking for, and was someone we both felt we could trust. The end result was something we were quite pleased with. We has recommended Brad to other people.

After moving into a new house, my wife and I realized that we required more stoage space in the kitchen (which was recently renovated). We hired Hardy to come in and build/install 2 cabinets in the kitchen to meet the need. The work matched beautifully, was done on time, and was on budget. I would use Hardy again!

Kiya came in to quote on a rather large job in the small row house I purchased in late spring. I was required to upgrade service from 60 to 100amp (for insurance reasons) and remove knob and tube wiring (widespread throughout the house). Kiya showed a passion for making the house 'work' for me (thinking about where furniture would be located relative to sockets, relocating switches from behind doors to make the house flow more effectively, etc.)...which I felt was the real difference maker in deciding to go with him. In addition, his price was competitive (based on the other estimates I received). The opportunity for me with Kiya was on site clean-up, paperwork, and follow-up with the city (still waiting for the city to come and make the connection to my house permananent). I would definitely use him again and have recommended him to friends.

Overall my experience with Air Works was a good one. They removed a very old furnance from my home effectively and efficiently, installed a new 2 stage furnace, ran a new duct from the basement to a small second floor bedroom that had no existing vent, serviced my central AC unit, and installed a pump for the condensation tube from my AC unit. The work met my expectations in terms of quality and price, the opportunity for me with Air Works was on sales follow-up with respect to a new thermostat (installed now) and the government rebates from the installation of these units (still waiting to get the cheques).
