washing machine - replace or repair?
by Rachel in Toronto over 1 year ago
My old-ish (came with the house 8 yrs ago) GE washing machine has started to leak from the bottom (not from any external hose, so it must be from the machine itself). It’s in a very awkward location and I have 0 skills so don’t want to try moving it to investigate further. But it looks rusty down there. Should I get a repair-person in or just assume it’s rusted out and I need a new one? Thanks for your advice!

Rachel.
I have found that with the low cost of a new machine it is a better way to go .
By the time you add up parts labour and service calls.
It also sounds like an old unit.

When the washer and dryer gets to such a stage such as having leaks and so on then it’s probably best to start looking for a new one. If you consider the cost of getting a plumber our and the actually paying to repair the washing machine it may be cheaper to get a brand new tumbler.
