Basement Clanup

We need someone to clean our unfinished and very dirty basement, get rid of the lot of junk and use cleaners to make it sanitary. Our cats have been peeing down there and it’s not a very nice job. But it shouldn’t take too long. Does anyone have any idea if a service for this exists? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Elizabeth
In regards to the cat pee the best thing I can suggest is giving the basements a really good cleaning and them painting the complete floor with cement floor and porch paint. I have run in to this problem before and it was a solution that worked however if they are going to continue to pee down there then no matter what you do the smell will remain

I would suggest you take the advice of someone other than ETHI above for they wrote a review for extreme landscaping and property maintenance for a deck just yesterday without pictures after I wrote one with 5 pictures of just how badly a deck can be built, I was taken for $4K so wouldn’t believe anything they say.

Hi Elizabeth,

We have a commercial spray product called “Pet Stain & Odour control” that eliminates cat urine and other pet odours. Spraying first and then cleaning would be recommeded. Take a look at the reviews for Simple Sudz under the Green Product section. Depending on the extent of the problem and how bad it is we could come take a look and give you an estimate. Our product has been used in pet kennels with great success. House Cleaning Toronto

Absolutely nothing will ever hide the smell of cat pee… I have an extreme allergy to this and can detect it as soon as I enter any home with such history

When you replace the carpet, you will also need to remove any wood underneath that has absorbed the urine too…

Its too bad such cute animals do such destruction

Cat urine is one of the most difficult things to completely remove. Regular household cleaning products will not get rid of it, not even bleach. Cat urine is mainly made up of urea, urochrome and uric acid. Uric acid is the component of urine which makes it so hard to clean. Most cleaning products will get rid of urea and urochrome, often creating the illusion that the urine has been removed. However, uric acid is made of crystals which stay surfaces. Traditional cleaning products cannot remove or dissolve them. When the other components of urine are removed, the appearance and odor often go away temporarily, only to come back when the area becomes damp (ie: regular cleaning, humidity etc…). The
Ability to clean and remove the odour of cat urine vary depending on the age of the stain.
The best bet is trying a high quality enzyme cleaner. This should help to “break down” the crystals. This will take quite a bit of time as the solution will have to soak to be effective in breaking down the uric acid crystals. Even then it is not guaranteed to remove all the odours, removing the flooring or urine soaked surfaces might be your only bet if all else fails.

Feel free to contact us with further questions or for a cleaning estimate.

This is correct. Cleaning products do nothing other than “mask” the uric crystals. Simple Sudz Pet Stain & Odour control is a synergistic blend of cultures that produce enzymes to break up the uric acid crystals.
Our biggest clients for Simple Sudz Pet stain & Odour control are real estate agents. They use the product so they can show a home “odour free”. Check out the testimonials here, under Green Product and services for more info.

It is an enzyme cleaner, so it should work. Like I said, a lot of times the odors will still be noticeable after some time if there is moisture. I don’t endorse or sell any particular product, although from experience renovating the soiled area might be your only choice. There is a sealer paint called Kilz Pro X that they use to “seal” the odors from the base boards and sub floors….etc. It works quite well, but it depends on the severity of your case. A contractor would be able to help with that. I can only speak from experience.

Basement cleaning is quite difficult task during flood or in heavy rainfall. But the method I follow and that is, First of all wipe as much as water you can then take your whole belongings outside in sunshine for drying purpose. Then make an inspection, repair those damages and if need a professional then hire it.

Sweep it and wash with Dawn soap real good that not only kills fleas but destroys the scent. Use Free-Breeze for about a week after moving in
