I can't say enough good things about Sean. Great attitude and very knowledgeable about, well, it seems everything. Sean re-wired my house (and fixed what the terrible electrician I previously hired did wrong), moved some plumbing for me for safety reasons and drywalled a bedroom and basement ceiling. While he was working there, he noticed that my hot water heater had sprung a leak and he immediately fixed the problem without any extra cost. If he hadn't been there and knew what to do, my basement would have been flooded. He gave me sound advice by coming up with workable solutions that no one else had offered before and he told me when my ideas were not going to fly instead of attempting them in order to add more hours to his bill. But what I really appreciated about Sean is how he took the time to explain everything to me and didn't talk down to me or treat me like I wouldn't understand. I would absolutely recommend him and in fact almost didn't want to leave this review because I don't want him to be too busy to take my jobs!

We recently purchased a house in the East end of the city, and soon found that our basement was leaking. I contacted Leaside Handyman and Joseph (Sean's dad) quickly came over to assess the problem. After a morning of investigating, Joseph found that the damage was quite extensive. Our foundation was cracked and damaged, and as a result water had gotten into our basement walls, rotted wood, and created black mold. In order to fix the problem Joseph would have to re-pour part of our foundation, replace the basement windows and frames, waterproof the wall, install sills over the windows, and install easetroughs on the roof (since for whatever reason this had never been done). He drew up a contract with a quote, which we found to be reasonable. In addition to the work listed above, we were also interested in doing some work on the front of our house, since the siding was old and not very nice looking. Joseph suggested we re-side the house in cedar shingles, and we agreed. We signed on to the contract, and he began working right away. Throughout the job Joseph was reliable, friendly, and helpful. When I discovered that my dryer was not properly vented Joseph promptly fixed the problem at no additional charge. Likewise, when it was discovered that our hose was not working, he fixed that as well at no extra cost. Though the work did take almost 2 months to complete, I appreciated that Joseph stuck to his word and never asked us for more money, even when it turned out that the damage to our outside wall was more extensive than he had thought at the time we agreed upon the price. Overall, I would recommend Joseph, or Leaside Handyman. As a first time home buyer I found him to be an excellent support. Our basement is now dry, our foundation looks great, and our new cedar siding is terrific. Thank you, Joseph!!!

Although this was a small job, it was something I couldn't do myself. It was performed efficiently in a friendly manner. I also had a couple of very minor things done (eg changing flourescent light tubes). I was very pleased with everything and would definitely call them in the future.

After calling numerous handymen we researched online, my husband and I ended up choosing Leaside Handyman for various renos in our new (old) house (electrical, new potlights & light fixtures, removal of load-bearing wall between kitchen & dining room, new kitchen counter, sink & range hood, etc.). Sean was very quick to get back to us and meet with us to give us a quote, whereas we had trouble getting a hold of many other companies, even to have a voice mail returned. Sean was extremely friendly and easy-going, and his quote was more than reasonable - he also was very flexible when it came to dealing with additional requests we made for extra work to be done, and did those jobs for an excellent price compared to previous quotes we had received. Sean was easy to get a hold of, honest, straightforward and trustworthy. We felt comfortable with him from day one, and an added bonus was that he didn't mind working with/around our dog in the house! Sean offers great value for his quote, and we even got him back to re-build our front porch for us at a later date!

I was referred to Leaside Handyman by several of my neighbors that recommended their services and professionalism. I am a professional photographer and needed an infant wood bed prop made quickly, for a session with an infant that was coming into the world very quickly. With just an idea and a rough estimation on the size, Sean Connors, the owner, within a couple of hours produced several variations for me to choose from. Once I chose the style, the bed was constructed within a week, just as I had envisioned, and just in time for the baby's arrival. Thanks again Sean for helping me with this project, although very little, compared to what you're use to working on, I appreciate your help! I will definitely recommend your services big and small to my friends and family.

We had Leaside Handyman Service come in to have a look at the work that needed to be done. The guys were funny, pleasant, and very knowledgeable about what needed to be done. Roger was extremely helpful and totally willing to do his best when it came to our new born, he made very sure that all of the dust stayed in the work area and not around the home. This was very important to us. The final outcome was fantastic and we are very happy with the workers and our new washroom. Recommended!!!

I needed a few small construction jobs done at my home. Sean was the only person that I considered because he did such a good job the previous time he was here. As before, I was most satisfied with his workmanship. He arrived on time, performed the jobs quickly and did an excellent job. Sean is very friendly, competent and a perfectionist. I would not consider anybody else when I have a job to be done.

I hired Leaside Handyman to renovate a shower room in my basement in April 2010. The job was supposed to take 2 weeks, and it took 8 months. Sean, midway through the job told me he didn't have time to finish the job, and the workers he sent had been fired because of the poor job they were doing at my house. He said he would get his father to finish the job. I was led to believe his father was working for him, until I started having problems with his father. When th job was finally done, I was left with a floor drain filled with self leveling cement. I had to remove the tile, heated floor, and floor drain and have them replaced. I asked Sean to pay for the floor drain and was told that it wasn't his responsibility as the work was performed by his father. I took them both to small claims court, and the judge decided in my favour. Yet, I am still waiting for restitution from Sean and his father. So, becareful as Sean may be great when things go right, he certainly isn't when things don't go well. He told me he had insurance, but, when the issue arose, he told me the insurance wouldn't pay because he had subcontracted the work, but, yet still had the gall to tell me his father was working directly for me. After replacing all that was ruined, the job ended up costing the $4500 of Leaside costs + supplies, and another $3800 to fix the mistakes they made.

I needed a TV stand put together. Although this was not a major job Sean was more than happy to oblige. He came the very next morning. He did an excellent job. He is friendly and thorough. I thought that the price he charged was very reasonable. I will definately use his services again and I will recommend him to my friends.

Half our basement was unfinished and had no lights or duplexes. I gave Sean a quick sketch of what I had in mind and basically told him to have at it. He did a great job framing the concrete walls and adding 2 rooms just where I wanted them and to be honest quite a bit better than I had visioned. He painted and had the electrical work completed by a sub contractor. Sean said he could do it without issue but mentioned that this was a better route to take. Sean wired the duplexes and the lights but had the electrician install the breakers and have it inspected. For the small amount of money I paid for this magnitude of work I was beyond shocked at how amazing he was. I was not inconvenienced much and was quite happy with the final outcome. It was money worth spending. I would recommend Leaside Handyman Service for any family or business that would like to have great work completed but are on a tight budget like I was. A+++
