We have used Mud Monkeys twice (on different houses). The service was excellent. On the current job, the ground settled over time where they worked and they came out and fixed it no charge both times. I would definitely recommend Darby and his team. Great service, good price and totally trustworthy. On another location, we had issues with a drain outside our back door that would clog up in downpours. Darby recommended disconnecting the downsputs and extending them away from the house. We did this and it solved the problem. Great advice at no charge.

From initial quote, to fielding any post job questions, Darby was consistently professional, helpful, responsive. I honestly can not recommend this company more highly - very high quality work, done quickly (nothing lagged, etc.), clean work site, and a very good price. Will recommend to any friends with basement water problems.

Excellent work done in a timely manner with constant communication. Very reasonable rates - what else can you ask for? Darby is an experienced professional with great workers who do their job very well. From recommending an architect to do drawings/handle permits to checking on finished work we're very pleased with the outcome of their work. Is there any wonder why they're so busy? Thank you so much!

I cannot speak highly enough of Darby’s professionalism. We contacted several waterproofing contractors, and although we did not use Darby (due to timing), he was very honest and gave great advice. In addition, we had several questions after his visit and he was very prompt in his response. He had no hesitation in working with our structural engineer and in fact recommended that we also get additional opinions to ensure that we made the best decision. I would have no hesitation in using Darby and his team in the future

I have worked with Mud Monkeys on two occasions. The first was last year when I was looking for a waterproofing company. Darby was very busy at the time and I was anxious to get the job done, so I went with another company. This other company was so bad that I actually called Darby mid-way through the project for advice and assistance. He willingly provided this, without charge, and it was invaluable. This year I hired Mud Monkeys to waterproof a small section of my basement not completed by the other company. Darby came out quickly and gave me a quote and the guys were there within a week. The quote was more than reasonable. The guys showed and explained their work to me every day, they were quiet, clean and professional and I would hire them again without hesitation.

Darby and the Mud Monkeys crew were simply exceptional. They were prompt, courteous, efficient, and they kept me informed of every step along the way of the job they were doing. I will be hiring their services for another project and would not hesitate in the least to recommend them highly to anyone!!

Darby and the Mud Monkeys are the hardest working and most professional crew we have ever had the pleasure of hiring. From start to finish they repaired and completed the underpinning of our foundation to the highest standard. And, they were always happy to pause their work to explain exactly what they were doing and why. The project ended on time and on budget (even though there were some complications due to our older home/previous amateur work). I would not hesitate to hire them again for any future projects. Thanks to Darby, and to homestars for the service.

When water seeped into our basement along the rear wall we got quotes and chose Mud Monkeys based on references, the apparent competence shown by owner and hands-on manager Darby, and a detailed straightforward quote. We were not disappointed. The job was done exactly as described and entirely to our satisfaction: quickly, neatly and successfully (no more water coming in despite heavy rains). Interlocking bricks had to be removed and because it was winter time, had to be set aside for re-installation in the spring. When it came time in January for us to settle up with Darby, it was he not us who suggested we hold back an amount until the spring work was done. A date for that work was set and met. Throughout, we were impressed that we were nearly always able to get Darby on the phone w/o delay and if he had to call back, he did so almost immediately—no intermediaries between him and us. It turned out that two other walls are now letting water through and Darby and Mud Monkeys will be doing the work. We give them 10+. M & J, Toronto, May 25 2010

10++++++ On time, On budget, polite, friendly, AMAZING! Our house is very close to the water table and our basement was constantly damp. The dampness would get worse when it would rain and water would trickle in from various cracks and holes in the foundation. It was not possible for us to do traditional exterior waterproofing so we needed an interior water management system. Last November, Mud Monkeys tore up our existing concrete floor and dug out about 9 inches of wet earth. All that material went out of a very small window by shovel and wheel barrow. They then plugged the holes in the foundation, installed a waterproof membrane, an interior weeping tile and a sump pit. They then back-filled with gravel and poured a brand new concrete floor. (We also had plumbing work done by a different company.) We were very impressed with the team and with the work. The workers were diligent, polite and friendly. Darby was always easy to get a hold of and responded to all our questions and concerns. They worked hard; the project was done on time and on budget. It has been several months since the project was completed, with several very rainy periods, and the basement has remained dry. We are very happy and feel confident that we can now proceed with finishing the basement.

WATERPROOFING

Tired of mopping the water in your basement? Does your basement smell of mould and mildew? Is your foundation wall retaining water slowly and deteriorating? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then the following will describe the reasons why, and how, to eliminate the problem. The cause of your basement's musty smell is because your foundation wall is retaining water, be it in the hollow block cavities or trapped behind the double brick or stone wall, as well as the water that is absorbed by the block, brick and stone. This combination causes the wall to produce mould, mildew and epharecense. The water trapped in the wall slowly deteriorates the wall, starting at the bottom. The water that makes its way into the basement through the wall and seems to cause us the most grief may not be the most concerning problem. The same problem will not occur with a solid poured concrete wall. The reason being you will find a defined crack in the solid wall that allows all the water to enter in, without retaining little, or any water.Regardless of which type of foundation you have, it can become watertight, mould and mildew-free by sealing your foundation from the OUTSIDE. With solid poured concrete foundations, you can inject the crack from the inside and the elements stay out.You must expose your foundation wall from grade level to 6" below the top of the footing. Then you must clean the wall thoroughly, exposing the deteriorated areas and cleaning all the dust and dirt from the wall. Then, restore any cracks or loose mortar joints with hydrolic cement. Cement coat the wall,Tar and install 6mm poly plastic on top. Once the wall is treated, install a 4" continuous weeping tile covered with 6 inches of 3/4" stone. Then back-fill the earth compacting at every foot. At grade level slope the earth, concrete, interlocking etc. away from the house. This method never fails. I have used this system over 13 years without fail. I have the references for you to refer to. We also have a photo album to take you step by step through the procedure. So, stop mopping! Relieve your allergies from mold and mildew and restore your foundation. When you do decide to restore your foundation do it the right way - from the outside. Remember, 40% of all my work is fixing other people's attempt to stop the water.
