This was the second job that Bigelow Construction did for us. They removed the plaster and lathe from the exterior walls of a room, prepped the walls for sprayfoam insulation, re-did all the electrics, drywalled, replaced the baseboards and window trim, and painted. We were very happy with Sam's team. Sam provided a detailed estimate, and a clear and credible revised quote when the scope of the work changed (we realized we had to replace all the knob and tube wiring). He and his crew showed up on time, worked hard, and cleaned up after themselves. The room looks great! We'd be happy to hire Sam again.

Sam did a really excellent job. He used top quality cedar and sunk really deep and strong support posts. Sam seemed to concentrate on our project -- rather than drifting between five jobs like some contractors do -- and the work was done on time. And his cleanup was great: no junk left behind.

After numerous estimates, we decided to use Bigelow Construction to disconnect and re-route our downspouts. Sam came to our house and promptly emailed us a quote for the job. He did exactly what we agreed to, showed up on-time and cleaned up when the job was done. We were really pleased with the Sam’s work and will recommend him to our friends and neighbours!

We had Sam remove drywall from our basement cold storage room and disconnect an electrical outlet. From the start, he listened carefully to what I wanted and prepared a detailed written quote very quickly. His work was excellent and he cares about doing things the right way. And, he cleaned up so thoroughly that there was not a trace of dust or debris left behind. He is honest, reliable, and does good quality work.

I hired Sam to build a small fence and gate, and to fix a rotten porch railing. I couldn't be happier with the result. The fence is solid and looks good, and the gate works perfectly. To find an accurate match for the porch railing, Sam ended up having to search all over town. He charged me a minimal amount for the extra labour, and the piece he found did indeed match perfectly. To top it off, he was prompt, courteous and neat. I'd happily hire him again.

The fence is shared with two neighbors requiring everyone to give their input to ensure the style and recommended materials were suitable to all. Bigelow Construction did two large jobs for me. The first was a back bedroom. The second was the two remaining bedrooms and the hallway. (I had some plans drawn up by a draftsman friend to have a clear idea of what I wanted.) For this work, Sam gutted and repaired the outer walls of the house (there were holes) then re-insulated. To finish off, we did the first project in drywall but choose plastering for the second project as it's a cleaner application, less dust. We also added new door and window frames, crown molding, and baseboards. Finally, the rooms were painted. I was very happy with Sam's work, I would have him come back. For costing, I liked how he broke the job down into its various cost phases. He was also punctual in arriving, kept me posted on his task schedule, and additionally his time and cost estimates were spot on. (If I changed the work, we discussed the additional costs which were always reasonable.) He's very easy to work with and I also felt he hired skilled, reliable people. Not only that, but they kept the site fairly clean and were conscious of that aspect of a job. But best of all, they finished on time. My only regret might be by writing this review he will be too busy to do more work for me. Janet
