Alex and his team did a fantastic job on our kitchen gut-job renovation. We found A&R Renovations on Homestars when we weren't satisfied with the quotes we received from contractors we'd found through word of mouth referrals. A&R wasn't the cheapest nor the most expensive quote, but we were impressed by Alex's knowledge, expertise and dedication to quality. When problems arose (turned out that our subfloor wasn't level and the floor joists were damaged) Alex had appropriate solutions to the problems. All of the subcontracts showed up when expected and also did quality work, so the project was completed on time as expected. The "crew" arrived on time every morning and left our house as clean and tidy as possible every night. Alex and team did a great job overall and do high quality work, but when something wasn't done right, Alex was there to ensure it got fixed properly, even if that meant that he had to absorb a cost; his top priority was our satisfaction. Overall we had a very good experience working with A&R Renovations.

I was looking to renovate our main Bathroom and powder room and we had a difficult time allocating a reputable renovator, a friend suggested I gave HomeStars a try, I typed in my postal code and found A&R Renovations Inc, I was impressed with the reviews and hired Alex and his Crew. I was given a written estimate detailing all materials, cost and expected time of completion. Alex informed that 95% of the time he is on the mark with his estimates and work completion. To be honest I thought this was a sales pitch, well let me tell you: I was pleasantly surprised that Alex talks the talk and walks the walk. His crew are professionals tradesman, courteous and very clean. Alex runs a tight ship. My main Bathroom was gutted and there was very little mess in the rest of the home. I have two small children and never did I feel my children were in any danger, the crew worked around my children's schedule in keeping the noise to a minimum during early mornings. My Main Bathroom and Powder Room look amazing, the workmanship is flawless and everything Alex recommended to me makes sense now that I see the finished product. The job was done with the money allotted and only 3 days off the promised date of completion. I highly recommend Alex and I advised him if any one requires testimonial I would gladly do so.

We chose Alex and his team to renovate our two bathrooms because they had the most professional approach to the project. One of the bathrooms was a complete gut and redo and the other one involved replacing the vanity, floors and toilet. He provided us with a written estimate that included the cost for the entire project. Most other contractors only wanted to include the cost of the labour and some building materials and would only give us this once we had committed to the project. Even before the project started and throughout the project, Alex always answered his phone personally and responded quickly to any questions or issues. They also purchase all of the materials and we did not need to accumulate all of the products ahead of time. The team arrived each day promptly and kept consistent hours throughout the project. All of his team are very polite and respectful. They completed the job on budget and on schedule. We had an issue with a couple of our choices however Alex was quick to address these and this did not increase the overall cost of the project. I would recommend reviewing all of the personal choices of products and materials with Alex before the job is in progress. Alex followed up a few days after the job to ensure that we were completely satisfied. A very professional company to deal with.

At the start of 2012 my husband and I knew that we would be embarking on our first full-scale home renovation, but when we found out that we were expecting our first child, we knew that timing was critical. We’d purchased our first home - semi detached in East York in 2007 and EVERYTHING needed fixing. There wasn't one floorboard that didn't squeak, there was barely any insulation and our bathtub's overflow was the ceiling of our kitchen. It was really bad, so we began the daunting process of learning how to find a contractor. We poured over renovation advice blogs, collected references from friends and started to make calls. Many emails were sent and we lined up a few consultations. We began to consider one contractor who came to us on referral. Everyone says referrals are golden, but I couldn’t shake the feeling I got when they repeatedly were late for meetings and unclear on project scope and pricing. At this time we found A&R Renovations on Homestars. I emailed the owner Alex a project list of everything we wanted done (kitchen, bathroom, living room, dining room, staircase, baby room, master bedroom and hall) and booked a consultation and he got back to me the same day. Alex was on time for each meeting. He was always organized, explained everything clearly and was very professional. You could tell he knew what he was talking about. My husband and I then decided, based solely on our gut feeling and the reviews we read, that we would sign with A&R Renovations. We were filled with trepidation as we handed off the first cheque, but to our delight, as the project ensued, everything unfolded just as Alex said it would. The team was always polite and professional, and showed up on time each day. Alex was in contact with us day and night, weekday and weekend - letting us know how things were going or if he needed our feedback or decisions. He would give his advice when asked, and would offer his expertise and guidance when we weren't sure what finishes to choose. Alex and his team worked tirelessly to give us our beautifully renovated home. He helped to ensure we stayed on budget, and he was cognizant that the longer the project took, the more it would cost us, as we were renting accommodations for the duration of the job. They finished in exactly 6 weeks to the day, and we were able to move back home. Since we've been home, we are delighted with the results and I continue to have to remind myself that this IS actually our house. Everything is stunning, from the floors, lighting, our beautiful new bathroom and kitchen and opened staircase and more – everything is perfect esthetically and functionally. Alex and his team went above and beyond for us at every turn and continued to exceed our expectations throughout the whole project, and you have to understand how critical this was for us, with baby on the way, incomes cut in half and a new mortgage ahead. We can't thank Alex and his team enough. While other things in life fell through, our home renovation kept chugging along just as promised and that meant the world to us. We have developed a strong trust in Alex and the A&R Renovations Team, where we know first-hand that their clients’ satisfaction and quality work is priority number one. I feel very fortunate to have found A&R Renovations and would recommend them in a heart-beat. A sincere thank you for everything Alex and team!

We had a lot of problems in our bathroom and hired Alex and his team to do a complete gut. They did an excellent job, especially with the tile work. They were professional and courteous at all times, cleaned up everyday, kept us informed about problems and kept us up-to-date on progress. They also came every weekday until the job was done, Alex completes his jobs before moving on to the next ones, which is great. The reno wound up costing a fair bit more than anticipated, but that was because once the bathroom was gutted Alex found problems with the electrical and plumbing, so additional work was required.

The best contractor I've ever used. Alex was up front about all costs, and there were no surprises. He kept me informed daily about the job's progress and always had great solutions to problems that he encountered. At the end, the job site cleanup was immaculate. The project was finished exactly on time. Alex's subcontractors were always on schedule, and all of the work done was of very high quality. I love to show off my new basement and bathroom! A & R gets my highest recommendation.

Alex and his team did an excellent job on our complete bathroom renovation. We have just begun using the new bathroom. The project looks amazing. Alex was prompt at all meetings. He was always responsive and he would proactively call me to see that I was happy. He was proactive on scheduling the project and finished ahead of schedule.. His team was on the job every day until the project was complete. So many contractors will go away and it is a nightmare to get them to come back. Not so with Alex. Thanks Alex!

A&R Renovations are by far the most professional contractors i have ever hired. I thought i was picky with fit and finishes, but Alex was over the top. Alex hands on approach to his businesses is second to none, nothing escapes his eagle eyes, nothing gets by him, he is in total control of his crew. Alex and his crew cleaned up after them self every evening. Not only am i completely happy with the workmanship but also work was completed on schedule and he did the work with the price allotted, i know he incurred some added expense as he ran into trouble with plumbing, i offered to pay the difference but Alex advised me that it part and partial of doing business. More contractors should take note from A&R and learn not to rip off paying customers.

Our kitchen was dated and was in need of a renovation. We also wanted to create a more open concept on the main floor to allow for clearer sight lines. I met Alex to discuss what we wanted to do in detail and he inspected the walls, floors, structural supports and heating systems to assess what was possible and feasible given the budget we wanted to stick to. Together we established a renovation plan and work was started. As work began Alex was always in contact advising me on progress and also discussed how to resolve problems that were discovered as walls began to be removed.
