We worked with Ted from Handyman Matters on a bathroom project about 2 years ago. I've waited a while to post this review as we've since completed another project and wanted to compare. The project started ok. We found out shortly after that the project began that it had been sub contracted out to an individual who was quick to let us know that he wasn't an employee of Handyman Matters. That was ok but within a few days of beginning the project he start showing up late, working short hours(i.e. 3 or 4) or simply not showing up at all. We made Ted aware of this problem which he claimed he was unaware and had expected him to be there working full time. The problems persisted, we kept Ted infomed, nothing changed and tensions arose between Ted and the subcontractor and we were caught in the middle. There were inapporpriate remarks and discussions from the subcontractor about compensation and such. The sub contractor asked us not discuss any problems with Ted and so forth. We were half way through a project and stuck in the middle. Extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable all around. The workmanship on the job was by and large good, and we have few complaints in that regard. The project of course went on much longer than projected and we were asked to pay more money after the fact. Haveing found Handyman Matters on Homestar I felt it important to pass our experience on. Ted aknowledged the difficulties and told us he'd never hire that subcontrator again. Little consolation for us. Indeed we would never hire Handyman Matters again, nor could I recommend them to anyone else.

I had some odd jobs that I needed done - I wanted a bathroom fan installed, a custom gutter repaired, and the flashing on my chimney redone (based on a home inspector's recommendation). I called Handyman Matters and sent them some pictures over email of what I wanted done. There was some discussion back and forth but they made an appointment to come out and do it. When they arrived they determined that the chimney was fine, so nothing needed to be done there. They were able to put together a good plan for installing the bathroom fan (it was a little complicated because of the house layout) and finished the installation that day, although there was still a depression in the wall that needed to be mudded and also some garbage (ceiling diffusers panels) that they said they would pick up. The next day they finished filling in the wall and patched up the gutter, but the garbage got left behind, and I had to dispose of it myself. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the job they did, although looking back at it now I feel like it was pricier than it should have been. Still, I have no real complaints on the quality or professionalism of the work, so I'm pretty satisfied.

Sean from Handyman Matters came and helped me out with a few things today - a couple of outlets that were wired improperly and needed fixing, a door that wouldn't close, etc., and I was very happy. He was friendly, professional and clean-cut, showed up exactly on time, worked quickly and was very helpful all around. I will definitely continue to use Handyman Matters for my future projects. I love my new bathroom thanks to the Burloak team led by Ted. Installed to perfection was a new shower, vanity, mirror, lights, heated towel rack, heated floors, air jet tub, toilet, bidet and beautiful tiles. It was a pleasure to have all of you in my home. The workmanship, attention to detail, and flexibility with regards to scheduling and additions was very much appreciated.

Handyman Matters completed a home reno for us recently. We had the kitchen, two bathrooms and family room redone as well as some smaller projects throughout the rest of the house. Ted was very professional and took a daily interest in how the project was coming along. He coordinated the crew efficiently. John, Gord, Brandon and Tom did an amazing job on all the work from demo to completion. They always left their work area clean at the end of the day. The project took a little longer than we expected, however some of that was due to changes we made along the way which Ted and the team handled very well. We are so pleased with the quality of workmanship. We love living in our new home and love showing it off! Thanks guys.

We needed to remove our ceramic tile kitchen floor and replace it. We are in a condo which makes it a little more difficult in booking elevator times etc. This didn't matter to Handyman Matters as they accommodated the situation pleasantly. When Ted arrived to review what had to be done he was right on time. He gave us an honest time frame as to when the job could be done, the quote was very competitive and came in without any surprises. Brandon and John not only did an excellent job but were right on time and very pleasant and Julie in the office quarterbacked the whole thing like clockwork. Would definately use again and recommend them to family and friends.

I required screen repair on my patio doors and it turned into a major problem with anyone attempting it. Paul at Handyman Matters was able to not only tackle and complete the job, he also made an adjustment so that the doors now run smoothly. Julie at the office was great and the work was done quickly. For my next project, Handyman Matters will be my first contact.

Paul did a great job and took a lot of time and care to get things right and make sure we were happy. He arrived on time each day, cleaned up before he left and did a very good job on all tasks. Very happy - will use again.

The repairs were done efficiently and quickly by a very courteous repair man; and, very important, he came at the agreed time, so no precious time was wasted by waiting. Highly recommended.

Handyman Matters has done an excellent job renovating my house. I first hired them to gut and build a studio apartment in the basement to create space. When I requested some changes to the floorplan, and an additional space to be added, they were accommodating. I was so pleased with the basement that I engaged them to gut and renovate the second floor bathroom which I am very pleased with. When they began work on the attic, the job clearly was not as straightforward as the other two had been, with it's angled roofline, and modifications done by previous owners that had changed the support system for the worst. Ted and his crew braced the roof supports, and ensured the integrity of the structure. They did a great job too of making things visually appealing as well. At every stage of work, Ted consulted me and explained options, and concerns. He was always concerned with doing the best job possible. When minor concerns cropped up, he was quick to address them. His people have all been extremely courteous and conscientious. They will soon be returning to gut and reno another bathroom on the main floor which will be a challenge given the limitations of size. But, I am confident they and I can work together to create the perfect solution. I would certainly recommend them to anyone.
