Gord and his apprentice did a great job switching our electrical from fuses to a breaker panel. They arrived promptly, very polite and did a great job. We would definitely recommend Gord to anyone looking for a great electrician.

Gord from GEM electric is the kind of contractor that a homeowner dreams of finding. He was so friendly, patient, polite and willing to take the time to solve the problem properly and not do a sloppy rush job. He went the extra mile and was funny and easy to deal with. Of course it means nothing if the work is poor, and this was not the case. He worked hard to solve our problem and he was flexible with timing and his price was more than fair. I am so happy to finally have the contact info of an amazing electrician. Thanks Gord!

GEM electric doubled their quote and did not install a proper plug for our washing machine yet charged us for doing so. We did not discover this until we needed to purchase a new washing machine. Their work wasn't tidy and they damaged a pipe that required fixing and repairing a wall which we were forced to pay for. I would not recommend this company.

I'm in the midst of a four year renovation which started with digging out my basement and continues through the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor of a 100 year old house. The original contractor introduced me to Eric and Gord from GEM Electric, and although I no longer use the contractor, they have become my permanent electricians. Although it's true that they're very busy and can't always come in a moment's notice, they will if it's an emergency. Otherwise, you may have to wait. BUT, Eric, and his partner Gord, are worth the wait. I am a customer who pays attention to detail yet they always manages to do what I want despite the many complications that come with such an old home. Also of note; unlike many electricians, they have very high standards and are especially safety conscious. In short, GEM electric does a top notch job every time and both Eric and Gord are a pleasure to work with. I will continue to use them and recommend them with high praise.

We received outstanding service from Gord and his team at GEM Electric. We had a number of electrical repairs to complete after doing an ESA inspection for insurance. This included removal of knob and tube in light fixtures and some walls, rewiring outlets, etc. We have an old Victorian home with original plaster moulding around the light fixtures, and Gord did a great job of leaving these intact. He took care to minimize the amount of holes he created. The job took 4 days. Gord was able to give us a very accurate estimate. He spent almost 45 minutes performing the estimate, which helped him understand what needed to be done. Other contractors did not do such a thorough initial assessment, and some even suggested rewiring the entire house to bring it up to code (which we felt wasn't necessary). Gord was very flexible with accommodating additional work at the outset and throughout the job (e..g, adding new light fixtures and plugs). He provided a detailed quote in a spreadsheet by e-mail which he updated as we added things. I thought his price for the services was very fair. The team was professional and tidied up each day. I would use GEM electric again in the future, and would highly recommend them to others.

I hired Eric to replace the knob and tube in my house last winter, which was a huge job. I had about 65% knob and tube in my upper two floors, so they replaced all the wiring, installed some new outlets and a sub-panel. Eric took me through a very detailed quote and the final cost was exactly what he predicted, despite some unforeseen challenges. His crew worked long hours and stayed late when they needed to finish. The whole job took about a week and Eric and his crew kept me very informed of all of their progress. They always tidied up after then end of their work day, and they always were considerate of everyone who was home. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again for all of my electrical needs.

As you may know, hiring skilled trades downtown can be a nightmare. Thankfully, Gord and GEM electric were referred to us by our Real Estate Agent. 5 Years ago, our first home was a bit of a fixer-uper. It had ALL knob and tube wiring throughout, and needed to be upgraded within 60 days in order for us to qualify for insurance. Also, as first time home buyers we were terrified of everything, broke, and completely lost. Gord and Eric did the whole job in a few days, on time and on budget and were an absolute pleasure to deal with. Still to this day, years later I have not found many tradespeople that have provided better customer service than these two gentlemen.

On our second home, we hired them again, and were even more satisfied the second time around. They embody the epitome of great customer service in their quality and communication. How many electricians do you know that will provide photo updates via iMessage while they are completing the job to show you what is happening while you are at work.

I will keep hiring GEM Electric for all my electrical needs, and I highly encourage you to do the same.

Eric did a large re-wiring project for me in an old house after being recommended to me by my realtor. Even in comparison to contractor standards, he was difficult to reach and arrange meetings with, although he was friendly and easy to talk to. All of my wiring is working and the main components of the job were completed successfully, but he left several finishing touches incomplete (for example, he said he'd provide cover plates but did not, agreed to provide a schematic of the work that he did but did not, etc.)

Gord and Eric at Gem Electric are stellar electrical contractors. They rewired my old, downtown victorian townhouse, top to bottom, and did an outstanding job. They arrive early and work late if they need to maintain their deadline. They always showed up when they said they would and the communication with them was clear and consistent. Their quality of their work and their efficiency was highly notable. They have very good connections to related subcontractors and authorities so our walls got closed up and inspected by the Electrical Safety Authority very quickly. I found the costs to be very reasonable for the scope of work. Gord is a pleasure to deal with and I would gladly ask them to work on our house again in the future. I can highly recommend Gem Electric as an electrical contractor.

I would hire Gord again for any electrical work in my house. He did the wiring for a new basement bathroom and for a third floor renovation. For the third floor renovation he added a light switch at the base of the stairs which made all the difference in going up the stairs safely. I appreciated his input when making decisions about where to put light switches and why. For the basement reno, he put a light in a bathroom closet, which again made all the difference in finding things in that closet. His company name is indeed appropriate.
