I RARELY use a/c...mostly because of how my condo is situated, the temperature is pretty level at all times. Of course, it's the middle of the heat wave in Ontario and I decide to turn on the A/C. We were also going to have a bunch of workers coming in a few days to come and work on our floors and I thought that there was no way they could work in that heat. When I called Boonstra's they came in 24 hours. They were much later than the time frame but at least they came. It was 10:30pm and the guy came. In my experience if a contractor is that behind he calls to reschedule. I live in a condo so the unit is on the roof but we didn't know which one exactly. It was very dark outside but the guy stayed nd tried to figure out which one it was. He wasn't able to (it was waaay too dark) so he promised that they would come first thing in the morning. I said 8am and they were here at 8am. When he got here he spent the time to figure out which unit was ours and ended up fixing the problem right on the spot. He was super nice and very thorough.

What could this company do to improve their services?
The only draw back was the initial fee for coming out. The problem was about a 5 min fix (loose wire) but we spent almost $300 on it. In comparison it would have been 10x to replace the unit but the initial fee for just coming out is a bit high. Still worth it though.

The job was supposed to cost under a sale and ended up costing us 13,000.00 after the finance plan and the job wasn't even completed had to have them return this summer to get air to work. Then was told after that it would cost me 192 dollars a year to keep the warrenty active.

As another reviewer noted, this isn't an inexpensive contractor but the work is really good! I was first impressed by the service on my old furnace, which was incorrectly installed and which was built by a company that had gone out of business. The repair person serviced my furnace, and suggested that I looked into getting a replacement soon. What was amazing is that he didn't push his own company. When I had several contractors give me an estimate, I found that Boonstra's was very professional and not at all pushy, which I couldn't say for all of the others. I've been happy with both the furnace and air conditioning unit (expensive due to the size of the house and due to the environmentally-friendly concerns), as well as the annual services.

In the Fall of 04 - a routine check of our original furnace showed that the heat exchanger was cracked. Boonstra One Hour Heating and Air conditioning did an outstanding job in replacing our furnace with an high efficiency furnace. They were professional - our chimney needed a liner. They did not cut corners.

Boonstra Heating and Air Conditioning started in 1961 as a one-man operation out of the basement of Clarence Boonstra’s home on Algonquin Street. Shortly there after Clarence purchased the current location across the road. From its meager yet ambitious beginnings, the company has become one of the largest heating and air conditioning contractors in southern Ontario.

The facility has itself grown throughout the years, and today includes administration office, a parts department, on-site sheet metal shop, training room & warehouse. The company has much history at this location as it has been in this location since 1961, however due to highway changes it will be moving locations while still remaining in the area, sometime in the next year or so.

In 1998 the company joined the Union Energy Organizations, and briefly had a name change to 21 Degrees. At that time the commercial division known as Boonstra mechanical became a separate entity. Today the commercial division is located on Parkdale Avenue in Hamilton.

In 2003 the company was once again purchased by AirTime Canada and has hence become a One Hour company. With this change the quality of service bar which was already high was raised even further. With quality service the residential customer base has experienced steady growth throughout the years and now includes more than 30,000 residential customers from Flamborough, Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Dundas & Ancaster.

To provide these customers with efficient service, the name Boonstra’s One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning “Always on time or you don’t pay a dime” is represented by a whole fleet of certified & trained customer service representatives, service technicians and installation technicians. We have had the privilege of having many repeat customers over the years like Donald Wall – “This is the third new furnace we’ve had installed in each of our homes. You do very good work and service – all very nice people we’ve met. Thanks”

We dedicate ourselves to exceeding our customers expectations in providing the highest standard of satisfaction.
