They were on time, very professional and pleasant. Scott explained everything that they were going to do and went over a check list at the end to ensure that nothing was forgotten. Chris was our sales person and he was honest and nice. I would highly recommend them!

I had a ductless system that stopped working. I called Boonstra. They showed up, charged me $120 for looking at it then said "We don't work on these systems". This is after I told the person on the phone what type of system I had.

Were very prompt with appointment, and made adjustments and cleaned furnace. The tech i had was excellent (i forgot his name :( ), he described what he was doing as well as gave pointers to keep the furnace running efficiently. Come the spring i will be calling them to do service on my air conditioning unit.

One winter, my furnace konked out on a cold night, and I called Boonstra to fix it. They came right away and advised me that I had to replace the entire furnace. It was very cold and I didn't want another potential problem of burst water pipes. So, they gave me a quote and thought it was fair considering that they would be able to install it within the next two days. I was very happy with their service.

I have had the most amazing experience with this company. The sales staff was friendly and incredibly helpful. They were able to advice me on the best unit for my situation. The install group was incredibly professional and efficient at their job. They went above and beyond with ensuring that my experience throughout the entire process was as incredible as it could be. I did a lot of research before going with this company... And I would definitely recommend them.

While I only intended to replace my hot water heater I ended up replacing my furnace, air conditioner and hot water heater! The home comfort advisor Shawn was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in recommending the benefits to replacing all 3 units. The furnace was a mid-effiency while the ac was prehistoric! My husband and I felt we made a well informed decision to replace all three. Their service technicians were fast, clean and efficient. I would recommend Boonstra's service to anyone and everyone!

We recently made a call to Boonstra’s to set up an appointment for a technician to come and assess our A/C as it stopped working. I spoke to Catharine and she was professional and made arrangements to have a tech come to my house that evening. A few hours later I received a call from the tech Ron telling me he was on his way. When he showed up he was very professional and very kind as my puppy wanted to play. He immediately began asking me some questions to get background of what we were experiencing then he went to look at the unit. He then came in to speak to both my husband and myself and explained it was the motor. At this time we also asked if he could look at our furnace as we knew it was an old unit over 20 years old. Ron took the time to show us both what he was finding and explaining what this result in. My husband and I decided it would be in our best interest to have a quote provided on replacement of both furnace and a/c. The following day the comfort advisor Chris Errington came to our home. He was on time, very respectful and knowledgeable. He went and looked at our home and discussed the different options we had. We never felt pressured instead it was very comfortable and a friendly meeting. We explained some of our concerns about air flow and he explained why this was happening and addressed this as well. We had all the confidence in the company and after meeting the Ron and hearing recommendations to move forward and sign. The following day the installers arrive in the time that they said and quickly got started. Another set of individuals that were professional and knowledgeable. Mike and his helper (I’m sorry I don’t remember his name) did an amazing job. After a day of work we now have a/c again and in a few months get to use our new furnace. If you are looking for a company for any of your HVAC needs we recommend Boonstra’s One Hour. Don’t bother wasting your time elsewhere, they are professional, and knowledgeable you won’t be disappointed. Special thanks again to the team of people who made this possible. Thank you, Catharine, Ron, Mike and his helper. And an extremely BIG THANK YOU to Chris Errington.I give you a 10.

I would not recommend Boonstra. I give them credit for always being available and showing up on time; maybe because rarely are they called twice by the same customer. I called to have a/c repaired. It was obviously a freon issue and the leak has to be found otherwise they can't recharge the freon. After a 20 minutes diagnostic and one very long cell phone conversation to "Bob" regarding cell phone apps...long story short, apparently the valves outside were leaking. "We will try to get the valves but it's an old unit so we probably won't be able to find them - here's your bill for $450". Incidentally, during the phone call to "Bob", valves were found!!! Oddly, 12 hours later repair person calls..."the valves we found were gone". Huh? "Sorry, there's nothing we can do except replace the unit but, if you do go with a new unit, they will credit you the $450 repair bill." Same day I call for someone to give me an estimate for a new unit and he shows up exactly on time. Very nice young man that spent longer than the repair man...hemmmed and hawwwed took vague measurements. Started at $4800 and eventually got down to $3200 all in. (By the way, none of the rebates in their full-page ads applied of course.) I told him I would think about it since I've sold my house and don't really want to spend money for a unit I'm only going to have for another 65 days. He calls me back the next day and leaves a message about a "fix" he might have that I would be very happy with and won't cost nearly as much. He doesn't say what it is however. Yesterday, the unit couldn't be fixed...now it can? Again, huh? So to shorten the story even more, as of yesterday after contacting a friend of a friend who has been in HVAC for 32 years, I have a working a/c unit with a fixed leak, NOT AT THE VALVES, but behind the condenser which required a 1/4 turn of a wrench, a fully-charged unit and only paid $120!!! Maybe because I'm female or maybe because they knew I had to have a functioning unit for the new buyer of my home but, they basically robbed me of $450 to give me an incorrect diagnostic AND tell me there was nothing they could do except replace it. Nice business practises.

Thank you for your feedback. Well, I certainly can’t make heads or tails on how you have chosen to interpret a relatively easy explanation of what was (and assuredly continues to be) the problem with your air conditioner. I assume you have left this unit for the new home owner to inherit? Your a/c system has leaky valves. We know this for fact because of the detailed leak search done by one of our fully trained professionally certified HVAC technicians. Our technician performed the leak search (where price and details of the leak search were fully disclosed and approved by you prior to any work being done) as a means to find the issue as to why your old air conditioner wasn’t working. After the leak was detected, our tech had to find out if the valves for you model were available in our warehouse, or if we had to order them from the manufacturer/distributer. Our technician was even uncertain if they were still available. You have an old and rare unit where parts are not readily available. To properly repair, recharge and balance your unit can run into the hundreds of dollars range, and for a unit that old, a better option could be to replace the unit. For someone who is looking to move within a month, they may choose to find a “quick fix”, and typically that person may “know a guy…”. You know, just top off the refrigerant so that it passes the home inspection. Problem is, when the temperature drops this winter, the restrictors in the valves (“O” rings which are made of a different metal than the copper valves, and contract in cold air at a different rate) that have been compromised and caused the refrigerant to leak in the first place, will again leak out refrigerant all winter long until depleted. When the new home owners turn on their a/c in the spring, guess what?...no cooling again. Your comments on this web page were the first I or anyone from our office had heard on this matter. After reviewing your comments, I tried to contact you on several occasions, but my calls were not returned. I assume you have since moved on to a new home. I would be more than happy to discuss this service call with you, and try to come up with an amicable resolution for your dissatisfaction. If not, I expect we will probably get a call from the new home owners in the spring when the a/c unit doesn’t work again. Sincerely, Todd Byerley General Manager Boonstras One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning

Boonstra Heating and Air Conditioning started in 1961 as a one-man operation out of the basement of Clarence Boonstra’s home on Algonquin Street. Shortly there after Clarence purchased the current location across the road. From its meager yet ambitious beginnings, the company has become one of the largest heating and air conditioning contractors in southern Ontario.

The facility has itself grown throughout the years, and today includes administration office, a parts department, on-site sheet metal shop, training room & warehouse. The company has much history at this location as it has been in this location since 1961, however due to highway changes it will be moving locations while still remaining in the area, sometime in the next year or so.

In 1998 the company joined the Union Energy Organizations, and briefly had a name change to 21 Degrees. At that time the commercial division known as Boonstra mechanical became a separate entity. Today the commercial division is located on Parkdale Avenue in Hamilton.

In 2003 the company was once again purchased by AirTime Canada and has hence become a One Hour company. With this change the quality of service bar which was already high was raised even further. With quality service the residential customer base has experienced steady growth throughout the years and now includes more than 30,000 residential customers from Flamborough, Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton, Stoney Creek, Dundas & Ancaster.

To provide these customers with efficient service, the name Boonstra’s One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning “Always on time or you don’t pay a dime” is represented by a whole fleet of certified & trained customer service representatives, service technicians and installation technicians. We have had the privilege of having many repeat customers over the years like Donald Wall – “This is the third new furnace we’ve had installed in each of our homes. You do very good work and service – all very nice people we’ve met. Thanks”
