    Exterior Restoration

While renovating my entire house, Mike was the best contractor I had the pleasure of dealing with. The front exterior of my house was covered in Angel Stone and then painted. Mike was able to remove the angel stone & the paint, replace all the broken bricks as well as repair all the mortar between the bricks! The transformation was incredible. I actually found Mike on Home Stars....and I am so happy that I did! Mike also communicated with me everyday, which was such a welcome change from other people I had been dealing with. I wish Mike did more than Masonry because I would like to hire him for other projects!

    Front Walk

Mike is your man! He is professional, friendly and careful. He took me to Beaver Valley Stone to make my selection and helped me keep to my budget. My existing plants were untouched. He also returned a couple of weeks later to make sure the stones settled properly. Hire this guy.

Replace bricks on front wall and tear down porch walls and columns

We received MANY quotes from masons, many of whom we found on homestars, and decided to go with Mike. The main reason was that we got a good vibe from him, but more specifically we found him to be the most responsive, respectful, professional, and easy to deal with. We had a complicated situation with our house. The brick in the front of our house (including the front wall, porch walls and columns) had been clad in cement by previous owners. We removed the cement and in the process damaged the brick (unavoidable given that the cement was applied directly to the brick). Mike had the most realistic, sustainable and cost-effective solution. In the end, we decided to remove and replace the bricks at the front of the house, and tear down and replace the porch walls and columns with wood (hired a carpenter to rebuild in wood). Mike was delivered on all our expectations: he was courteous, professional, meticulous and a pleasure to work with. The new brick blends in with the rest of the house almost seamlessly and it looks like it's always been there. We continue to receive compliments on the brickwork and have already recommended to many neighbours. My only regret is that I wasted as much time as I did getting so many other quotes before finding Mike - I wish he was the first one that I had called. He was the last, though, and I am so happy we finally did find him.

    Bricking an addition

In Dec 2009, me and my wife began the process of building an addition and a full second story to my small house. Before we met Mike Glynn, the GC brought his crew to build the block foundation. The result was disappointing. That is when I started looking for a bricklayer to tackle laying about 10,000 bricks. We found Mike and he did a great job! It is unfortunate that we did not meet him at the beginning of our project! We are esecially happy how he matched the new bricks with the old bricks. He was very professional and executed on everything that he said and within the timeframe that he said. He and his crew were at the job site every morning and put in a full days work. He went beyond just laying bricks. Mike helped us design the look of the front part of the house as well as address some issues that the GC left us with. In a nutshell, if we had to build another house, we would call Mike Glynn.

Restoration of original 1890 Victorian red brick home

The first step of the restoration project was to remove angel stone that had been applied to the facing of our heritage red brick Victorian row house by a previous owner in 1979. The second step included sourcing bricks to match the original red brick facade and then rebuilding the damaged original decorative and other brickwork and tuck pointing. The final step was to source stone window sills to replace the original wooden ones. We were not able to find ready made sills that we liked so Michael custom made window sills out of some stone of our choosing, cutting them all down to size, chipping the stone to remove the straight edge cuts, and then installing them beautifully. The finished product is unbelievable and the colour match on the replacement bricks sourced by Michael is incredible.

    Patio door opening in brick

I would definitely recommend Mike to anyone looking for a brick layer. I had Mike cut a hole in my brick for a patio door. His quote was the cheapest of the quotes I received, and he came in exactly at the quoted price. He was professional, friendly, punctual, flexible as to when I wanted the job done, did very nice work, and cleaned up the job site thoroughly when he was finished. PERFECT!! Thanks Mike!! Ryan Ryan

multiple repairs, new window cutting, parging

I found Mike originally on Craig's List, and was so happy with his work that I'm the one who urged him to list on Homestars. He's exactly the kind of tradesperson you want to deal with - honest, clear, responsive, listens well, offers good advice, and works independently. I had him parging, cutting a new foundation window, debricking a doorway, bricking up another two windows and cutting block on an angle for a stair rail. All of his work was perfect, done on fairly short notice, and never once did I have a problem. I wish all the tradespeople I dealt with were like Mike.
