Proposed Renovation: Signed contract with MIG in March 2012 for a 3 bathroom renovation. 40K project total. 10K deposit Renovation: No work completed. MIG cited financial problems after taking our 10K deposit and told us they could not carry out renovation . No offer to refund deposit. Offer for a brand new affiliated company Gold Creek Builders to take over job, run by Trevor. It is unclear if MIG is actually bankrupt officially. Caution for those that look for work to be done by MIG or Gold Creek Builders.

These guys took my money and ran..they didn't even start the work which was scheduled to begin in April and end in June...they still have my deposit they took in March (and it was significant) and will not communicate at all. Dream project has now turned into a nightmare They apparently are going by the name "Gold Creek Builders" now...be careful out there people

We met Warren at the Home Show in April and our journey with MIG has been 7 months from start to finish and on budget. We want to thank you for completing our renovations; it has been a wonderful experience. MIG was the only company we interviewed because when we met Warren we knew he would get the job done and our home would be a joy to live in. Warren was always available to answer our questions and made everything happen. We will miss him. Odessa, I had the most fun with her! She is so bubbly and has very creative and insightful ideas. I will miss her most of all. Odessa helped me transform our house into a warm, inviting home and one we love to entertain in. How wonderful! Thank you. Sam, we think he is the rock. Sam kept things going, he watched over the whole transformation; he took care of our house and turned it into our home. Sam took care of the glitches and made it all sparkle and come together and most of all made Terry happy when the little things were taken care of. The trades people we met were skilled, courteous, happy and amazing. They truly seemed to enjoy working on our project and their workmanship shows in all the details. Thank you all. We would highly recommend MIG Homes to our family and friends. We will be delighted to show our home to any of MIG Homes prospective clients. We are grateful to have had the pleasure of working with all of you.

Thank you so much MIGhomes! I had expanded my dining room and built a deck outside of my new patio doors. MIGhomes worked through the snow and bitter cold to meet the schedule and everything was finished very close to the initial estimate, but the best part was that my total project came in UNDER budget! I actually saved money with MIGhomes. That's no small feat for a renovation company. The deck is better than I had hoped. Very stylish. I can't wait for the spring so I can fire up the new BBQ on the new deck! Thanks again guys!

Our basement suite needed a proper, modern kitchen to go with our newly renovated main floor. We found MIG Homes through a friend and we love their work! From start to finish, the MIG Homes representatives and contractors were friendly, curteous, and sincere. The renovation was finished on schedule and very close to the original budget! As a tip for those undertaking future renovations: be flexible in your tile/marble colors and finishes. Dispite the renovator's best efforts, they are sometimes subject to availability from the tile company.

We had MIG Homes do a main floor renovation for us. The job took about four months and they completely transformed our house into our dream home. They raised floors, vaulted a ceiling as well as remove a wall. The kitchen is so amazing. Odessa was great to work with and gave us ideas we hadn't even thought of. From our first meeting with Allistair and Warren, to the completion of the work there was great communication. The budget was within 5% of the quote and they even repaired some problems with our plumbing that we didn't know existed. I feel like we were treated like family and without hesitation recommend MIG to anyone.

I see all the great reviews below, but that was not our experience at all. MIG must have been looking after all them and not our project! What we had done: ensuite almost fully renovated: wall unit & cabinets installed w/new sink, new tub and tile, new flooring, new fixtures, and shower was retiled. Granite counter tops along with upper/ lower cabinets and a pantry style cabinet added in the kitchen. Cabinet and counter added in mud room. Here is what we experienced: - Project plan 6 -8 weeks. We understand there are delays, but reno took from July 30th to Nov 19th which was 16 weeks. - Demoed ensuite to start the project Jul 30, then very little was done leaving us without the use of our bathroom for months. Told was done and able to use except for the mirror Oct 29th. Mirror finally installed Nov 10th but was not centered, fixed Nov 19th ending project. - Waited weeks for ensuite reconstruction to start. Called Warren he said "I was expecting this call two weeks ago". Why didn't he call to explain long before I had to call then? Were told the cabinet company lost the order, Warren never checked on the progress, had to reorder when they never came on expected delivery date. - Counter for the mud room wasn't installed, we asked where it was. Were told it was cancelled with the cabinet order... I thought the cabinet order was lost not cancelled, which was it? - After cabinet mix up, only heard from Warren when it was time for them to get paid and never heard from Odessa again. Before the work started Odessa assured us that they focus on the job and would be with us every step of the way, that didn't happen. Found out from a sub contractor a guy named Sam was organising the work on our place for Warren. Sam never contacted us or met us until the last week in October, when most of the job was completed. - Cabinets were finished in the ensuite for weeks, but mirror was not measured until the last week of October. Were told was a "miscommunication" between Sam and Warren. - After waiting and discussing what we wanted with both Warren and Odessa on more than one occasion; extra cabinets were ordered for the mud room we didn't want and a few were the wrong type/finishing. At least one drawer front in the kitchen was ordered incorrect. Corrected drawer front finally installed Nov 12th. - Warren repeatedly told us he would send us drawings, info, choices, etc. And we always had to request he send it days later when we were still waiting for it. - Warren is always late and seems disorganised (is this where the "lost" orders come from?). One time he even showed up to take measurements without a tape measure or even a pen to write them down! - Sam told us we would get cleaners coming in when the project wrapped up; didn’t happen. - We were told that Warren would sit down with us to review our budget savings/overruns, but that didn’t happen either. Just sent us our last invoices and requested we leave cheque for them to pick up. While we were satisfied with the final product, if you are looking for customer service and a timely renovation, we would definitely NOT recommend MIG Homes. If you are still considering them but have a question on our experience I can be reached at temporary29@hotmail.com

Hi Brett, I am very sorry you had a bad experience with MIG Homes. As you know we are a family business and take customer satisfaction seriously. I have reviewed your project with Odessa, Warren and Sam we have identified places where we can improve. I thank you for your feedback and offer my apologies once again to you and your family.  I would also like to add some facts: We did not hear about some of these complaints until after the project was over. Communication is a two-way street. MIG Homes is built on transparency as such we have all our contact information on our website. We are on call 24/7 to make it easy to get a hold of any of us. I would like to meet with you both and discuss your experience further. As a Calgary owned and operated family business it is important to us to get customer satisfaction right. Please advise on your availability for a meeting. We are very happy that you are enjoying the quality and workmanship of your new renovation by MIG Homes. Sincerely, Trevor

I've worked with a LOT of home reno contractors in the past with mixed results. As a mother of three who's kids have decided to buy older homes and renovate them once they moved out, I have worked with all sorts. Some renovators have a hard time relating to their customers, and some are just dishonest. When it came to my own Kitchen reno MIG Homes was a refreshing change. The Muellers are a phenomenal family to work with. It's like dealing with a warm, pleasant extended family you've known for ages! They made minimal noise and no mess! I was hardly bothered by the entire process. I even made a few alterations to the plan closer to the end and Warren was very helpful, understanding and cooperative through that process as well.
