    Backyard Landscape Lighting

We had a general idea of what we wanted for our backyard landscape lighting, however with Scott's recommendation on placement, fixtures, coverage and light amplitude the final results exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed working with Scott as he was professional, on time and had many great ideas. We are very impressed and would not hesitate to recommend his services.

    Landscape Lighting

We often admired the lighting displays on homes, where house features, gardens, bushes and trees were highlighted, and wondered what it would take to do something similar at our home. A few years ago, while visiting the Home Show, we noticed Scott’s LED display, and were impressed by the example he had of the front entrance to a house all lit up. We stopped and asked questions, and then invited Scott to visit us and provide some suggestions. Scott had many excellent ideas, but being the cautious types, we asked for the addresses of homes where he had completed exterior lighting so we could see his work and get some ideas on what we could also do. We were impressed with all of the places we visited. We agreed to the displays he suggested, which included lanterns in the garden bordering our driveway, and lighting to highlight the old-fashioned pump on our front lawn. The final result was outstanding! It took us a lot of time to make our final decisions, but Scott was very patient and helpful. Our external lighting display has provided us with many positive comments from friends, neighbours and visitors! We did have a couple of lights that burned out after a length of time, and Scott came very quickly to replace them. He also did follow-up calls to ensure that everything was working fine and that we were happy with the results. We would highly recommend Scott for anyone considering exterior lighting to accent features of their house and gardens!

    External Lighting

Scott from Light Emitting Design installed our exterior lighting system back in July 2013 based on the reviews of this site. We were interested in lighting from an aesthetic point of view as well as added security for our darker areas. Other than that, we were novices, and put ourselves in Scott's hands. He recommended lighting that not only cast a warm glow over our architectural features and provided security lighting for our front/side doors. So why am I writing a review for service that's 12 months old? Because this week we called Scott as we had a minor issue with one of the lights, and he came within the week. Not only did he fix our light, (under warranty) but he also noted that the battery in our timer was low and replaced the whole unit for a smaller and more efficient one: no charge. In addition, we mentioned we may be replacing our eavestroughs in the near future, and Scott said we only had to give him a call if there were adjustments to be made. We are so very very happy with Scott and his advice, and Light Emitting Design's superb lighting for our house. I was remiss in not writing a review back in 2013, but with this review I can happily report that his follow up work is as excellent as his installations. Many thanks.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks-you for the kind review Susan. Since day one, we've tried to provide as good a follow-up service as our original installations. We've worked with LEDs long enough to know that while they're infinatley superior to other lighting options, nothing is perfect. It is so important to give our customers peace of mind by standing behind the product and sourcing suppliers who stand behind us.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a positive review. The lighting really helped complete your home's look and I must say, I think it looks very nice. Isn't it amazing what you can do with 40 watts?

    Soffit Lighting

I was at first hesitant to contact Light Emitting Design for a quote on soffit lighting I wanted installed because of the lack of reviews on HomeStars. I took the chance and called Scott for a quote and I couldn't be happier with my decision and with the finished product. Scott was professional and extremely helpful in meeting all of my requests and completing the job in a timely manner. My family and I were speechless when we saw the finished product. The end result was better than what I was expecting. My family and I are extremely happy with the work done and our decision to go with Light Emitting Design. We could recommend them in a heartbeat!

    Answer from pro:

Hi Robin; I'm so glad you're happy with the results. We're always happy to shed a little light on the world of LEDs! Thanks for the great review.

    Backyard Lighting

We decided to do our backyard lighting over again on a pretty tight budget. I requested quotes from 4 different companies being very specific that each one was provided the exact same details. The quotes varied a great deal but Scott's quote was in our budget and was the first to respond and the only person to follow up. Scott's level of service is unmatched by anyone we have ever dealt with when it comes to our home. Never was a chance to say we wanted a change because Scott followed to make sure everything was to our liking. I would highly recommend Scott to anyone who needs low voltage lighting work done. Amazing service at a great price! Thanks Scott we both love the lighting and look forward to working with you again on our next project!

Thanks for the great review Brad! It was certainly a pleasure working for you. Your back yard was a perfect example of how sometimes a little TLC for the existing lights along with some new fixtures and a fresh design can extend and enhance the life of a lighting system. It was a lot of fun!

    Landscape lighting

I called Scott to give us a quotation for exterior lighting work for a friend of mine whose home I maintain for her. Scott was an amazing person to deal with he gave us a precise quotation on every thing he was going to do, The work was completed very quickly he even came twice after dark to adjust the lighting, we would use Scott again in a heart beat and recommend him highly. Answer from pro:

Thanks for the review Lloyd. It was certainly a unique challenge. I must say I was thrilled the way the rooftop lighting turned out. It certainly was a 'custom' design. From refitting the chandelier to making sure the lighting didn't burn the artificial grass and retrofitting lights in columns, it was a lot of fun pushing the envelope!

    Accent lighting in our backyard

Scott had previously installed LED lights in our front yard, which was well done and is a credit to his abilities. We asked him come back to light up our backyard and were open to his creativity. The results are spectacular! The back of our house, the pond, the pool, the trees and in particular our wishing well have been lit with soft LED lights and our backyard looks even better than it did. Scott is great to work with and we would recommend him to anyone.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for the kind words Michael. As LEDs allow for a completely different way of lighting,it's a real pleasure when a client allows us the freedom to use LEDs in new and different ways. After all, isn't that what "custom" really means?

    Landscape Lighting

Scott is an artist. He did a beautiful job designing and implementing our landscape lighting, front and back. Had an innovative and effective approach compared to the others that bid on our job. Also very reasonable, he was the only one that offered to refurbish existing fixtures. On time, on budget, and very good about coming back to make tweaks and adjustments. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

    Answer from pro:

Thank-you for the excellent review John. As you already had several, quality fixtures, it seemed a shame to get rid of them for no reason. Incorporating them in the design was no problem. Simply retrofitting them with LEDs just made sense especially if we follow the three R's: reduce, reuse, recycle!
