Premiere ruins your furniture, rips you off, doesn't answer letters and Atlas disavows any knowledge of them because they are a franchise. Don't use Atlas or Premiere...they were the worst.

Atlas/Atlass Moving and Move4Less are crooks. DO NOT USE THEM!! THEY RIPPED ME OFF, THEY HAVE RIPPED OFF MANY OTHERS, AND THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF TOO!! Please take it as my warning to you: there are many, many, moving companies that can serve the Greater Toronto Area, you don't need to waste your time with a company that prints comments such as "WE GUARANTEE SUPERB SERVICE!" and "WE WILL TREAT YOUR POSSESSIONS LIKE OUR OWN!" on their websites. Do not be fooled - it is next to impossible to hold them accountable in a court of law for printing statements like this on their website, and I believe they wrote it without ever having the intention of putting it into practice. Moving is stressful enough, you don't need the additional crap that either of these companies will give to you. What was supposed to be a 4 hour move for me turned into a 5 hour move before we even left our original location. At that point I called up their manager to tell them he needed to do everything he can to get my stuff out of there. He's happy to do so, but of course tells me that new movers to come and help are an extra $20 an hour more than the previous ones that had been doing a terrible job so far. And probably the worst part of it all, is that during this ordeal the new owners of my residence show up and later tell me that the movers I used were sitting around in the back of their truck smoking. And just when everything was going terrible; it gets even worse. The two incredibly slow movers that are moving my things (between their smoke breaks of course), bring my wardrobe downstairs while I'm busy in my kitchen moving boxes, forget that they took a leg off the bottom of the wardrobe and the now exposed screw puts three deep scratches into my two month old floor. I immediately point this out to them and they say absolutely nothing. So I tell them I'll bring it up to their boss and ask them to keep going. By the end of it all they've broken a mirror and one of my chairs as well. At the end of it all I'm stuck with a ruined floor, a broken mirror, a broken chair, and a bill that's twice as much as what they quoted me. On top of everything else I'm charged for tape & packing materials as well. And then they end up leaving without ever giving me a copy of the contract I signed. By the time I got in touch with them for the final time it was 14 ignored phone calls and 7 ignored emails later just to hear them say: "Go ahead and take me to court if you want but you signed a contract and the court will rule in my favour". When I tell him that he did not give me a copy of the contract he offers to fax it to me. Of course, I never receive the contract nor hear from him again. This company already has lost a lawsuit to Atlas Van Lines on account of brand theft. Go to the atlasmoving.ca web site and read it for yourself!!

Atlas moving was the most horrible experience I have been through with a contracted service. The booking process seemed easy enough, I asked about all extra costs, surcharges, travel time, etc. etc. and obtained what I thought was a reasonable quotation. The movers showed up on time and seemed very friendly, they were a subcontracted company, different name on the truck. Mover #1 asked me to sign an insurance waiver, stating that I didn't need insurance as I wasn't moving any large appliances. I signed. When they reached our new home, Mover #1 made a call into the office to finalize the payment amount. All of a sudden I was faced with hundreds of dollars more than had been quoted! I spoke with the manager on duty via Mover #1's cell phone who told me he didn't know of any quote or communications with the "sales" team, and that by talking to him I was only increasing the moving time, costing me more. I was fuming and the poor movers said "this happens all the time with this company". They were apologetic, at least. In the end, after contacting the BBB (to which I received a nasty "I see you've contacted the BBB, there's nothing I can do for you" email from Atlas). Turns out the "insurance waiver" I signed at the beginning of the move had a lot more clauses in it than just declining extra insurance. Travel time, fuel surcharge, materials, "stairs charge" were all added or increased by my signing the "insurance waiver". Lesson learned, read through everything before signing, but I was confident in my email correspondence with the sales team before booking, I never expected I would be re-negotiating the entire contract with Mover #1's insurance waiver. Criminal. In the end, clearly I had signed a new contract, so the BBB couldn't help me. Thank goodness for sources like homestars where I can at least warn others!

It cost way more then the original quote. I had to help move because they were slow. They dropped a piece of my furniture and denied it fell when clearly there was scratches all over it. When I booked a time and date for my move in March, 2008, the people from Atlas Moving & Storage seemed very friendly. The movers that arrived on the morning of my move also seemed very friendly - one younger person, probably in his late 30s and one older man, who seemed to be in his late 60s. I wasn't sure how he'd do, but they appear to have managed moving everything. When I was asked to sign paperwork before they started loading the truck, the younger mover (Mover 1) asked me to sign an additional insurance waiver. I asked him what that was for, and he said I did not need additional insurance because I was FULLY COVERED already under their general insurance policy. He did not have a copy of the insurance policy on him for me to review it, so I accepted this representation and signed the waiver for additional insurance. When Mover 1 was placing my bedroom dresser down onto the floor and pushing it against the wall in my new loft in Liberty Village, he did not use any type of mat or protector, and put a 2 foot long deep scratch in my new hardwood floor. When I pointed it out to him immediately, he acknowledged the scratch, apologized and said all I needed to do was to contact the company and they would arrange for someone to fix the floor. Second misrepresentation. After I paid him and he was leaving, he again apologized for the scratch he put on the bedroom floor. When I contacted Atlas on Monday after I moved, they immediately said that I was only covered up to $20 per item damaged under the regular insurance policy, because I had waived additional insurance coverage. I specifically told them I'd only signed the additional insurance waiver because of the misrepresentation made by Mover 1. The company took no responsibility and said it was not their problem. After incessant telephone calls and a couple of emails from me, a man whom I believe is the owner of Atlas went to my loft to look at the scratch on the bedroom floor himself, notwithstanding that I had already sent them a few pictures of the 2 foot long gauge. After his visit, he claimed that it was MY responsibility to ensure there were no nails or obstructions etc. on the furniture and that because there was a sharp edge of some sort on the bottom of the dresser, that was the cause of the scratch and they were not responsible. Don't movers always have insurance for these types of problems?? And don't they always have to use mats or protectors when they place furniture down to ensure no damage is done?? Clearly this company does not ascribe to what normal residential movers should do! And their customer service is atrocious. I highly recommend that you DO NOT use this moving company! Their rates are similar to others, where I'm sure you will get better service, particularly if there is a problem.
