Pillar To Post The Home Of Home Inspection

Terrible home inspector. Took him 3 hours and was trying so hard to find problems with the house. Not helpful and made recommendations for things that were not needed or part of the home inspection. Such a waste of time and money.

This industry is unregulated and has a low standard. Anyone can become an inspector with a $1000 class and a few days on their hands. This Pillar To Post franchise is horrific and should be better regulated. This is outfit is the worst of the worst.

If you value your privacy, don't use Pillar to Post Home Inspectors in Kelowna. They are likely to send your information to some stranger. This is what happened to me - They kept emailing me and I replied telling them they had the wrong person. They acknowledged, but then continued to email me their client's sensitive information about their home inspection.

They even emailed me the 48 page Home Inspection Report afterward. Incredibly unprofessional and I feel very badly for their client... I'm hoping this review will get their attention.

I am the owner of the inspected property by Mr. Kyle on Dec.03,2020,
and followings are my comments:
1- Inspection window was 2-5 PM while he came 1:30 and without acknowledging us started taking photos, Parked in the drive way, going to the backyard and before 2 PM he was on the roof.
2- He damaged a couple of the showers and water is leaking from the valves, Closet Door handle got lose,... and left some appliances door opened, and big mess under the Cabinets in all bedrooms. And reset all appliances and left some doors open and even did not put back everything in the places.
3- He was not able to Turn On the Fireplace, and Oven cooktop burners.
4- His job was not professional and tried to find Mr. Ray to avoid this Review the whole morning. It is very annoying and sad, and I hereby ask Ray to ask the inspector to respect and company's name and clients.
I left a message for Ray on his Cell as well.

We had booked Pillar to Post for an inspection of a new purchase near Kelowna and they were prompt to respond and attend to the inspection. The inspection was carried out in accordance with the terms of the agreement however the reporting was less than satisfactory. It is standard practice to include pictures but our report was void of any. Despite many attempts to contact them to forward same they did not respond whatsoever and never did receive any pictures. They also surcharged as requested a fee to inspect the hot tub but couldn't complete the inspection because the tub was not filled. However they still charged us for a service that was not done. Despite having paid for the cost the inspection, the company still has not provided pictures nor responded to our numerous emails. This is very unprofessional and would not recommend them at all.

Was initially impressed with David’s inspection until a few days later.
Further inspection of the crawlspace by Foundation Co, water was found along 2 areas & running down the perimeter of the floor. He should have OBSERVED & REPORTED THIS, but did not !!!

Basement washing machine drain line backed up and plumber assessed as failed. Water service line only allows 1 water device to be used at a time. $10000 bill!!! They don't know what to look for....only give things a cursory look. Worthless!

POSITIVES:

- It was easy to schedule a same day appointment

- They conducted the inspection very quickly by 3 people

NEGATIVES:

- It was not as thorough as we have had from other companies in the past

- They missed a roof leak that was found the next day by termite inspector. They did not even offer any compensation for their mistake. I was hoping that they will offer some discount for wind mitigation inspection, but they did not.

- They indicated that microwave makes some noise, but did not notice that exhaust fan does not work as well as inside light was not working. Now, as we moved and discovered this we have to replace the microwave

One more thing, not so important, but describes them. At the inspection they could not locate a light switch to check functionality of bulbs and Kathy promised me that she will call the owner and ask him. Next day, when I asked, she indicated that it is not her job. Possibly, I did not know this, but I did not ask her, she volunteered to get this information.

I hired Pillar to Post to do my home inspection in Brevard County. The inspector was downright lazy. The roof on the house was replaced during the hurricane Andrew time, as such, a lot of those roof replacements were not permitted, which the insurance companies understands, but relies on the wind mitigation done by the inspector to access to see whether it was built to code. Pillar and Post refused to even enter my attic to complete that assessment, then reports on the wind mitigation 'unknown' to all the questions, saying that the attic space was tight. One month later, I had my AC ducts replaced in that same attic, and it was done successfully! LAZY and LAME is my opinion of this company.

Secondly, they inspected my Plumbing System which I am replacing one month later because they failed to adequately test it to see that it was badly damaged. Do NOT hire this company, they are incompetent!! and works in collaboration with realtors to abuse home owners.

In Peoria az I had pillar to post home inspection inspect a home I was going to buy. He never did a complete ac unit inspection, all of the pics in the report sucked very foggy. Never checked the receptacles for proper current flow woody is not worth $200
