I had posted a long and detailed note about Fibertec and their service. Fortunately, someone read the post and called the right person at Fibertec. They got on the ball and did everything they could to rectify their poor service and turn it around into a positive experience. This included talking to the service personnel and giving them some pointers and training. The president of the company personally called me twice to make sure everything was going as planned. My service issue took a long time to get moving in the right direction toward resolution, but once the ball got rolling on the right track, everything was completed in about two weeks. Thanks, Fibertec. You have won my confidence back.
I wanted to let you know how happy I have been with my Fibertec windows. They are now 15 years old and are still like brand new. They are very energy efficient, and require no maintenance. I would be happy to speak to anyone thinking of buying your windows. K.C.
I purchased 8 windows and 2 doors for my home. These windows and doors are not cheap, they are a higher end product. Once the installation was finished, the installer noticed and mentioned that the lock sets (deadbolt and passage) could not be installed to properly close due to the holes in the door being drilled off centre. The frames, where already installed and the doors had to be locked for the night so the frames had to be chisled out to accomadate the deadbolt when locked. Both doors were drilled off centre with one more so than the other. This left no wood on the frame of one door (only the fiberglass trim left), and very little on the other door. Also the Q foam that the use for weatherstripping around the door was not installed correctly as you could see daylight from the corners of the door when it was closed. Pictures were sent and after numerous phone calls it was acknowledged that there was a problem. This happened in Sept 2009, it is now Dec 2009, and I still have not had my problem fixed. I have stated I wanted the doors replaced (Fixing is not possible in my opinion as the holes are off centre in the edge of the door, and now the frame is not secure at the lock due to having to chisel it out to accomdate the lock). This request to fix the doors was ignored and all Fibertec wanted to do was fix the Q foam. Finally the made an appointment to send someone out to fix the Q foam and see what they needed to do to rectifiy the door problem. I stayed home and waited and waited, NO ONE SHOWED UP. No phone calls, nothing. I have talked to customer support, Parts, General Manager, and all say they will fix my problem. I have been waiting for approx 1 month for parts to arrive for my door (security plates??) to put on my door to fix it. To me this is a quick fix (bolt on plates to the frame and door to strengthen the weak spots) and I am not happy with it and have stated such. From there website "Fibertec management and staff take great pride in every project that we become involved in. Our production is restricted to ensure that everyone on our team is able to devote the attention to the quality expected by our clients." Where is my quality, and where is your pride in my project? I am just getting the run around. I would definitely not recommend Fibertec to anyone. If you did have a problem, who knows how long or even if they will respond. It seems like a good product, but it you can't offer customer support when there is a problem, no business will be referred by me EVER. IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY. I have documented all the contact that went on from the start of this. There was not what I call regular contact. The part that was supposed to be ordered was not going to fix the problem, it was a band aid solution, I told George I was opposed to that from the start. He said he would order it and if I was not happy then we could look at other options. I knew I would not be happy, but he kept insisting. Once the owner got involved (which was 5-6 months after this all started) and acknowledged that this was a problem, new doors were ordered for me asap. Well, its now June 11, and I still do not have my situation fixed. I thought all was on track, new doors got delivered. Before installing them, I checked them out to make sure they were OK. To my dismay, they same problem was evident. I immediately called and sent pictures of the problem. A date and time was schedule that the plant manager could come out to have a look (at least that is what I was told). GUESS WHAT. No one showed up again. NO PHONE CALL, NO EMAIL, NO PERSON AT MY DOOR. AGAIN This has done nothing to reinforce my hope in getting the situation fixed. UPDATE - Its is now Nov 18, 2010 (over one year since this started) and I still have not had my defective product fixed. Actually the reaplacement product (which was defective also) is still sitting in the garage where it was dropped off in May 2010. I have placed calls and was told someone would be in touch. Nothing yet. UPDATE December 2010- The NEW plant manager John came by to check the problems out, and made arrangements for the following week to bring 2 new doors and install them himself. On the scheduled Saturday John showed up with a helper and installed 2 new doors, and the hardware, and made sure they worked properly before he left. THANK YOU JOHN FOR RECTIFYING THIS PROBLEM QUICKLY.
Dear Mark, While we pride ourselves on responding to each service call on a timely manner (which we have many satisfied customers), there was a period of transition between the previous Service Coordinator and the new hire, that caused a delay in responding to your request. As of November, we have in fact been in regular contact with you to finalize the details and formulate the actions. Part of this action is to replace a certain door part, which we have been waiting for from our supplier. As soon as the part comes in, we will schedule a service visit to your job site. We thank you for your patience, and rest assured, we will rectify the issues. Dealer Manager.
Dear Steven, We would like to take this opportunity to tell you, how pleased we are with our new windows. Every time we drive up the house now, we truly think we have the nicest windows on the street! The quality of the product is evident! Your help during this process was really appreciated. Every time we called with a concern or question or just looking for advice, you were always available and found the right answers. Your installation team, Jimmy and his crew, were incredible. They certainly know how to install windows and did an excellent job! They were always courteous and polite. Every day they left the work site, they made sure any construction mess was cleaned up. When they had to take out the old windows on a cold day, they were careful to close the door to the room in order to try and keep the rest of the house warm. I can't say enough about how pleased we were with their work. This has been an excellent experience for us, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Fibertec to anyone in the market for new windows. Sincerely, Karen & Kevin Lacey
4/30/09 Fibertec Window and Door Mfg. Just wanted to let you know how pleased we are with the windows we purchased from you. You were very straight forward and honest during the quoting process which I appreciated greatly. The windows were custom made to the exact sizes I needed and arrived with no damage. Installation was straight forward and we immediately noticed how much quieter our house was. The inside oak veneer looks great after we stained it to match our existing trim. Thank you for a quality product. Sincerely, Curt L
For a widely varying climate like we have in Ontario, there is no better window than a fiberglass window. Fibertec was on our list of companies to call from the start, just based on their reputation in the industry (recommended by our architect). The good folks at Fibertec (we mostly dealt with Steven Hall) definitely lived up to our high expectations and more. They were cheerful and interested in learning about exactly what was important to us in our home. (e.g., light, air flow, etc.) And they were just as eager to talk us out of bad decisions to help us keep our costs under control. (Not sure how many companies would do that!) Steven was always helpful and not the least bit pushy. His quote was put together professionally and was very easy to understand. We wound up going with one of their highest end products: triple glazed, krypton filled and with a u-value (insulation rating) so low, the windows will lose less heat that the WALLS of our old house did. (It's a good investment though: the math says the extra costs pays for itself over the life of the windows -- we're paying more on our mortgage but less on our energy bill. And the house will be a much more comfortable space to live in, too!) The windows showed up bang-on time and our builder had no trouble getting them installed for us. (Well... there was a comment about them being "the heaviest window he's ever moved" but it was said at least partly in admiration of the triple glaze. The other part was definitely just that some of the larger windows were REALLY heavy. :-) ) And they followed up to make sure all was well with their product after installation. It was a really good experience through and through.
