First off, I created an account just so that I could write this review and save SOMEONE from the horros I went through. Let me begin by saying that I do not complain. I'm generally very complacent, easily impressed and overall try to see the best in every situation. But this? This was absolutely ridiculous. I purchased a groupon coupon for desperate housemaids back in september. Never. Ever. Ever again will I be using their services. After three phone calls I was finally given a tentative date in which I could redeem my cleaning services - a month from the day that I called. I was told that due to a heavy volume and huge response from the groupon site, that was the best they could do. Fine. I was told that if I didn't hear from them, they would be there on such and such date. That date came and went. I didn't hear from them, and nobody showed up (I should mention I had to take half a personal day from work as I wasn't comfortable with them in my place alone for the first time and they do not work evenings, early mornings or weekends - and nobody showed up). I called back (unsucessfully). After three messages, and a week gone by, someone got back to me. They apologized for the mistake and said the appointment was never officially scheduled, but they could come in two weeks. Again, the best they could do. They showed up a week early, without warning, as I was on my way out the door. I had not prepared, tidied etc... but fine. They were there, finally, so I was happy. Luckily my boyfriend happened to have the day off, and could be there to ensure that everything went smoothly. After about an hour, they attempted to leave. My boyfriend pointed out that we had paid for two hours, and that they hadn't even vacuumed yet. They agreed to stay a little bit longer, but stated that their vacuum had broken the night before. At this point he put up a bit of a fuss and questioned how you could have a cleaning service without having a vacuum. They apologized and agreed to come back the next day to finish up the job and vacuum. The next day they did not show up. After calling, they apologized yet again claiming that "something came up" and said they would come back and finish the job that they had started two days earlier. They came (an hour late), stayed for no longer than 5 minutes, and took off again. Never. Ever. Ever again will I be using their services. On top of the incredibl headache, the unprofessionalism, and the waste of my time, the job that was done was not even remotely impressive. I'm incredibly dissapointed. If I could give zero stars, I would. One thing to note, they did a wonderful job on the bathroom. For that, they get one star.

i had the cleaning company desperate house maids come to my house to clean and it was two lovely ladies named nicole and jennifer. i place looked beautiful after they were done the two hours of cleaning thank you so much ladies you two were great. i would recommend this company and these two ladies to all my friends

I purchased a two hour cleaning from this company on GROUPON... So yes, it was far cheaper than a regular cleaning. I assume the company did it as a big promotion to get their name out on the market. I don't think they expected the sheer volume of purchases. Some 900! The office was ill-equipped to deal with such a plume of calls! I never received a call back, after repeat attempts to book an appointment. When I finally DID book one, the cleaning staff were a no-show. When I called, the man on the other end said it was not "confirmed". Hmmmmmm. So I re-booked for the next day. This was the last change. I booked for 2:30. The cleaning staff came at 3:45. I am pretty sure the office did not allow for thier travel time! IN THE END: The two women who came to clean the house were lovely, professional and hard working. The house looked great. I would hire these two again in a heartbeat - but will not because of the terrible job the office staff did at coordinating the transaction. If you do a big spashly promotion, you should have the ability and resources to follow through. Not a good way to get my business. Sadly, I cannot recommend Desperate Housemaids to anyone. I WOULD recommend the two lovely women, the front-line staff, who did a remarkable job at my home!

This business came recommended to me and I was quite disappointed with the results. I asked for a very detailed cleaning and furniture steaming.The cleaners spoke little english and didn't seem to listen to what I wanted cleaned. They didn't do a thorough job and missed dusting most of the furniture in the house. The work was very expensive considering I could have done it myself. I don't normally hire a house cleaner and only did it on the one time, requesting a detailed spring cleaning. I had told the owner of my request prior to the crew's arrival, but apparently they didn't get the message. To make matters worse the furniture steamer tripped all the outlets in my house, causing a power failure. I suppose that was beyond their control, but the service really left me disappointed.

My husband and two kids brought a detached home which we completely renovated. When I had first approached Harry at Desperate Housemaids regarding the proposed cleaning, he promised me the world. We then discussed on average how many hours it would take to clean a home that has been through renovations and he said typically between 2.5 to 3 hours maximum and that it would cost me approximately $150. On the day of cleaning (Saturday), the first thing the ladies complaint about was the fact that our central vacuum was not working and that this would cause them huge delays and thus they would require alot more time to clean than they had anticipated?? To all those out there, be careful of this trick !! I didn't know that they every home they are going to clean requires a central vacuum to be in working order ! The little vacuum that they brought with them can easily be purchased at a Walmart for $100 so no wonder it would take forever to clean! To make things worst, I had to supply them with cleaning solutions to clean the washrooms and the toilets! And the big rave about their vapor cleaning machine .. it's nothing more than a larger version of the H2O vacuum! They claimed they took 5.5hrs to clean the house only for me to find out they simply had pushed the dirt around the house with their mop. Honestly, I had to mop the floor with my Swifer WetJet mop throughout the entire house at least 7 times before I even dare to let my 11 month old daughter crawl on the floor. Her pants would get dirty instantly after crawling around in less than 2 minutes after the big 5.5hr of cleaning that the ladies supposedly did. The worst was yet to come when I received the bill for $346.50 !! When I complaint to the owner about the work done, Harry told me he would send the ladies out again to clean. I told him I wanted nothing to do with his cleaning service again and that I did not received the VALUE of the 5.5hrs that I was charged for. He proceeded to advise me that I had 24 hours to advise them of my dissatisfaction but he knew I was moving into the home the very next day on Sunday so what time did I have to advise him nor was that ever stipulated to me over the phone initially. All in all, we had a horrible experience with this company and would advise everyone to seek other cleaning companies so avoid wasting your hard earned $. It truly was a nightmare and the owner took over 7 days to get back to me after the complaint - I guess he wanted to ignore this complaint and hope that it would slowly fade away.
