I had Clean My Space come in and do a cleaning of my new condo before we moved in. I was recommended by a friend who had used them for the same purpose and now uses them occasionally (which we plan on doing too). They booked my appointment quickly and cleaned it really well. The team worked so well that I actually felt compelled to bring them coffee and donuts at the end because I was so happy with the work. The appliances were especially bad when we took the unit over. The team shined them up really well and got underneath and behind them too, which I was really picky about. Anyway they were great and we do plan on using them again. Great work and Thanks.

First of all, this company gives you a very expensive service. Add to that the factor that you have to provide the cleaning products. That's all fair. The quality of the job is good most of the time, and on one occasion (out of 3) very bad. Does the price justify their service? Not really. I'm OK with paying $35 and providing my own supplies, but only if the job is exceptional, and Clean My Space's end results aren't. They're decent when they do a good job, but that's about it. I own more than half-dozen condos around Toronto, and so when the tenants move out I have to have the condos cleaned to their best. I had used Clean My Space on two previous occasions, and decided to call them up again for one of my condos in Yorkville that was empty and being prepared for a new tenant. They came and cleaned the apartment, but I did not have a chance to take a look at their job until 10 days later, and while on the surface everything seemed clean, it wasn't. Within seconds I was able to notice small things: a pile of beard hair in the washroom cupboard, dirty corners, dirty door knobs, dirt marks on walls which I had specifically asked to be removed, etc. Little things that no one should expect from a cleaning company charging at $35/hour and claims to do a very careful, thorough and outstanding job. So I emailed them and one of their reps, while saying how he's shocked, offers to do a free touch-up cleaning service next week. I was delighted to hear this but told them I'll be away next week and if we could reschedule something for the week after that I would appreciate it. I don't get any emails returned to me, however, and a week later when I decide to contact them again, things go down south. Another rep replied this time, saying that while the previous rep had promised a complimentary touch up service, this now falls outside of their "24 hour policy," since I contacted them 10-14 days later and by now dust has covered everything. Furthermore, this rep claimed that my last email before this one was replied to, something that absolutely not true. I wrote them back saying I understand their 24-hour policy and appreciate it. However, given that the apartment is empty and no one has been there since the cleaning, and I provided a list of very specific things that had NOTHING TO DO with dust (e.g. dirt marks on walls and piles of hair from shaving), they should understand my position as well. Furthermore, I told them that a good customer service sometimes requires a business to operate outside of their policies, which are not set in stone. Of course, I never got a reply. CONCLUSION: While Clean My Space might do a decent job, it's by no means outstanding. And if there is a problem, they won't go out of their way and 24-hour policies to satisfy you, no matter who you are. For $35/hour + own supplies, you rightfully should expect an outstanding job and customer service, which you might get, you might not.

What could this company do to improve their services?
For the rate they get, they should at the very least 1) do what they said they would, even if it means it's outside of their policy, 2) do as much as they can to keep their customers happy, even if that means breaking a policy like their "24-hour free touch-up" service, and 3) return all emails, or at least don't claim they've responded to an email when they clearly haven't.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
There are much better cleaning companies in Toronto that produce the same results (albeit, without leaving you a checklist of what needs to be done) at a much cheaper price and with better customer service (for example, [competitors name removed--Ed]. I gave them a try after Clean My Space refused to finish the job). And if you don't have any antiques or expensive and vulnerable things lying around, go with a private maid. It's not hard to find one that you can trust, just ask around for maids that have been giving service to your friends or relatives for years. And because they were recommended by friends or family, they'll usually go out of their way to do a terrific job.

However, our policy offers a 24 hour guarantee and seeing as how you contacted us some 2 weeks later, we found ourselves in a very difficult position. Recently I had to prepare a 1 bedroom condo suite just in time for people to move in on a weekend. The place needed a good cleaning after the previous people had moved out. This included inside and outside cleaning of appliances as well as a bedroom carpet desperately in need of a deep cleaning. Given work priorities I had no time to arrange schedule and oversee the quality of the work. If you have worked with contractors before you know how hard it is to be hands off and yet get smooth scheduling and high quality. Then I found CleanMySpace. Having been the first time working with them I was not sure what I was up for. Yet Robert and Elaine's first professional and courteous contact provided the trust to move on. And I'm glad I did. Not only did they do an outstanding job of cleaning my condo, they even arranged for the carpet cleaner for me (which they don't normally do) and rolled up the charges into their own fee! When I walked into suite it was pristine. A checklist of the work done was left for me to inspect. It was so reassuring to see the results I expected. Keep in mind this all happened through phone/email scheduling, various scheduling constraints, under the shadow of a hard time line, with extra requests. Robert and Elaine were fantastic. Both professional and friendly. I would definitely return to them for future needs. Highly recommend if you are looking for quality you can trust. P.S. If you are shopping around you might find you are paying a bit more but you get what you pay for. For the ease of mind CleanMySpace bought me and the value they provided I wouldn't hesitate doing it all over again.

I hired Clean My Space for a moving day cleaning while my condo was still empty. I have struggled with writing this review, because while Melissa, the President was flexible with our changing schedules (we were depending on the flooring guys to finish their work before we could let the cleaners in), and she was very pleasant to work with; the actual cleaning was really bad. The 3 I am giving them, is all for the flexibility and willingness to make things right. I told Melissa the greatest problem areas from the first cleaning and she agreed to send a second team of touch up cleaners. I figured I could get the other areas myself. So the 7 I am not giving them, is because the first cleaning was awful, and the second cleaning was mediocre and not professional. Here are the problems I faced: 1. I paid an additional $40 to use their products and supplies. I am not an unreasonable person, but when their cleaners walked off with 1 full roll of paper towels, 1 brand new full box of baking soda, and a full box of large Glad trash bags, I was very disappointed. These were the only things I had taken to the new condo to use myself. If they wanted to use trash bags to take out trash, that's fine, and I get it. But to walk away with a brand new full box is a bit too much. They didn't come prepared with proper equipment and supplies. When the second set of cleaners came back for the touch up, they didn't even have a vacuum cleaner and borrowed mine which was thankfully unpacked by that time! 2. After the first cleaning, my ensuite toilet still had red spots under the rim. The cleaners told me they couldn't clean it without bleach. That's untrue because I've cleaned similar spots at my old condo with green products. The touch up cleaners told me they couldn't clean it because they came without a toilet cleaning brush! Not sure how that was my problem considering the company knew what areas had been completely ignored the first time around. Eventually they cleaned the toilet with a toothbrush they asked me to provide! And yes they got the spots which means the first set of cleaners should've got them too. 3. The first cleaners said they did not think the interiors of the appliances had to be cleaned because their company didn't tell them. I told them I had specifically spoken to Melissa about cleaning the inside of appliances and cupboards. So the cleaners told me I could just put the oven on self clean and it looked pretty clean to them. I did not know how to respond to this. My mom could've told me that for free! Its not why I hired professional cleaners. So I insisted and then they cleaned superficially inside the appliances. When I did a detailed check afterwards, they had left dirt, food and grubbies all along the edges of the oven and dishwasher. I honestly should've taken photos. Gross. The second set of cleaners did clean these but I had to ask them to clean the oven twice to make sure it actually got done. Oh and they used my paper towels because they didn’t bring any. 4. The first crew did not clean the insides of my kitchen cupboards. They still had pieces of crud on them that I loosened with my fingernails. I went back to the initial checklist Melissa had emailed me and these items were listed under the Kitchen section. The second set of cleaners cleaned the cupboards with the same dirty cloth they used to wipe down the stove, oven and water from the floor. I will be wiping my cupboards down again myself. 5. The pantry was a big area of concern for me because for some reason the previous owners had their kitty litter in there. After the first cleaning, I still found cat hair at the baseboards. I understand that its hard to get cat hair at one shot, but in combination with the other things, it just seems like the cleaners didn't bother to do a thorough job. I tried to follow Clean My Space's written suggestions of not following around the cleaners and staying out of their way. I thought I had hired professionals, but it really doesn't seem like it. If I can't trust their cleaners around boxes of trash bags, why would anyone trust them around a house full of more valuable items? Its the pettiness of it that really bothers me. Melissa did give me a discount for the items that went missing from my empty condo after the first set of cleaners, but she sort of distanced herself from the whole affair by saying her cleaners said they didn't take it, and that she wasn't there so she can't comment on it. I sure am glad my condo was empty and I didn't have any valuables around. She suggested I may have thrown them myself, but what would’ve I have thrown them in? Her cleaners took all my trash bags! There were so many other little things, like the cleaners saying they had vacuumed the bathroom, but then I found gross black hair on the floor. I asked them to vacuum again. They cleaned the stand up shower but didn't clean the soap dish so there was thich coloured soap residue on it. The company suggests clients do a walk around and check things off the list, but the first set of cleaners just checked things off the list themselves. They put on their street shoes and stood outside my front door and then asked me to quickly check if everything was ok. What does one do in that situation? I took a quick look around and things looked clean. But when I got the chance immediately after they left, I found they had just cleaned visually big areas and left all the things inside dirty. They walked in and out of the cleaned condo with their street shoes fetching jackets etc. Nice! What's the point of cleaning the floor only to have it covered with street grossness from their outdoor shoes? The second set of cleaners were really chatty and told me they do a number of touch up appointments for Clean My Space and were infact going from my condo to another one for a touch up there too. I guess the quality of their cleaners is really not as good. Maybe all the other reviewers on the site got all the good cleaners.

I have had really good cleaners in the past, but they weren't available on short notice. I would say book ahead of time, so you get the best cleaners.

All of our Home Maintenance Managers are bonded, insured, police and reference checked. From time to time things can go wrong and we are prepared to address such situations and make them right. We truly regret that we could not satisfy this customer nor come up with the magic to make her happy. We do wish her lots of happiness in her new residence. We hired clean my space a few months back when my husband and I found ourselves bickering about cleaning every single weekend. Hiring Clean My Space was the best thing we ever did! Not only did we come home to a beautifully clean house every other Monday, but we also did a better job of keeping it clean in the meantime. I would absolutely recommend Clean My Space!!!

My apartment hasn't looked so good since I moved in (only three months ago, but still). They even cleaned the inside of my microwave! (Somehow I totally wasn't expecting that). Everyone was pleasant and professional (in the five minutes I spent with them - I left to go to work pretty quickly). It's a delight to come home to a house that's clean and neat - my inability to clean things weighs heavily on me most of the time. Having never had cleaners in before I don't have any real basis of comparison, but I'm happy. My place looks lovely and feels like it's really clean - when I do it myself it always feels like I've cleaned the surface of things but there's still grime underneath somewhere. I plan to continue having Clean My Space in once a month to keep me in check :) Thanks, Erin

Seeing a shrink and having someone else clean my home were the two markings that would signal my entry into middle class. Huzzah. There was no reason to expect my toaster to shine like that. Clean My Space did more than I hoped they would. I work at a newspaper and a home editor suggested the agency. I owe her a big thank you email (well, maybe just a succinct one). A thorough cleaning and reasonable price. They're punctual and polite too. This is my first experience with cleaners. Last time I moved I got jazzed about hiring professional movers that did not live up to the hype.

I have really enjoyed having the Clean my Space team take care of my apartment for me. Since I adopted my dog, they've adapted to help me keep her areas of the apartment clean as well, which is so important in such close quarters. Everyone on the team is friendly and courteous and they always try to go the extra mile to make me happy. I especially appreciate that they don't use any chemical cleaners, but they still get everything super-clean!

When we come home from work after Clean My Space has been my Boyfirend and I both get the biggest smiles on our faces, everything is so neat and clean! We really happy with the quality service we receive and the checklist covers everything! We really like the little added touches, like changing our bed sheets and washing the old sheets so they are clean when we get home. All of the staff have always been a pleasure to deal with.
