Every once in a while the masonry of my 1939 house needs some TLC. My first call has always been to Wilkens Contracting. And like their most recent November 2023 visit, Ive always been very pleased. From the office team to the onsite team they consistently delivery prompt, professional service. Wilkens Contracting really knows their stuff!

I contacted Wilkens after someone else had done a poor repair on my chimney that created problems with the draw.

They responded very quickly, sent someone within a week to assess the issues and provide a quote.

Repair date was scheduled soon after. When they were doing the work, it was discovered that there were larger problems to deal with. They went to get the right materials and fixed everything perfectly. And, the quote was still the same (amazingly).

We will be reaching back to Richard and Bill to look at some brick pointing. They are honest and skilled.

We needed a kitchen window enlarged and shortened, an old stove vent bricked over, and an exterior supporting pillar repaired.

Wikens was extremely professional throughout every aspect of this job. An assessor came to our home to look at the areas that needed work, assess the scope of the work and the time it would take to complete it. We were given a detailed, itemized quote within 24 hours. When I agreed to proceed with the work, I spoke to the mason who explained how long the job would take and he informed me when the work could be started. He was able to reuse the old brick so that the window looked as if it had always been there. We are extremely happy with our new window opening, the brickwork and repair of the damaged pillar.
Wilkens is a family owned business and each person I had contact with was extremely Skilled, professional, cheerful, and helpful. I would highly recommend their company and workmanship. Before and after photos are below.

Crumbling bricks were falling inside the chimney and bricks were decaying by the front steps.
Wilkens was the lower of two quotes and I'm so glad I went with Wilkens. Their work was terrific and the new bricks matched the old ones beautifully. They were very professional and you get the benefit of many years of experience.

Richard and the team at Wilkens did a great job from the quoting process right through the finished work. Richard was very honest and informative with his advice, and likely saved us thousands of dollars on work we didn't need to do. The crew did a great job matching the colour with the existing mortar, and the work (tuckpointing on 2 walls) was done within a day. We'll be calling them back next year to get some chimney work done. Highly recommend.

Wilkens did a great job repairing the brickwork on our pillar and completing tuckpointing repair on some other cracks that had emerged in our house. Allan and Les were efficient, professional, and we were so happy with the work. The price we paid was exactly what was quoted with no extra add-ons.

Very professional and efficient work! The crew arrived on time, actually a bit early which was great, and the work was impeccable. Showed me everything that was done and it looks brand new! It was a lot of work as there were areas all over the house on both storeys where mortar was missing. Highly recommend this company.

Recently purchased a 100 year old home in east Toronto. One portion of the brick was crumbling and needed replacing. Jake came by promptly to discuss and give me a quote. The work was done quickly, professionally, and on budget. The repair looks great and is barely distinguishable from the old surrounding brick.

I have an older Beach home with a wood burning fireplace that had stopped working properly. Our issues were more than cosmetic and it was hard to find anyone who could talk intelligently about what was happening, or why. We had numerous quotes from guys who wanted to simply rip out and replace what we had, but Wilkens were the only firm interested in helping us to find the issue. It turns out that our new windows and doors have made our house much more air tight, so the fireplace wasn't drawing air properly. Their solution included an air vent that they built into a newly poured hearth, and now the problem is solved. The work itself started and finished exactly as their estimate detailed, with no surprises. This was a big undertaking for us, and it wasn't something that we want to 'redo'. It was a good feeling to know that we hired the right guys the first time.

Richard arrived for the assessment and quote. He doesn't rush you while you describe the issue. He has great observational and analytical skills. and carefully explained the options and his recommendations. He can explain anything you might want to know about sills! There was absolutely no over-selling whatsoever. Very comfortable and informative meeting.
Jake arrived for the installation. Equally informed and knowledgable about the work. It was done efficneitnly and quickly. A wonderful product and a pleasurable experience. This is the epitome of customer service and the first time I've done a Homestead review! Kudos to Wilkins(and I'm not even related!!).
