Main Bathroom Reno Our bathroom reno had to be planned and constructed on short notice as we took possession of a house without a working shower. We had one month to completely gut and rebuild a large bathroom with some hidden issues as the house is 90 years old.
Mark provided us with a thorough detailed quote, helped us make our selections at Tapworks, was in touch almost daily by email or phone, and gave us good solid advice. He made excellent recommendations for an environmental assessment and other things we hadn't considered.
John's workmanship is incredible. His skills include plumbing, framing, drywalling, wiring, tiling, and an eye for design.
Other contractors Mark recommended, for example our painter, Rob, and our carpet supplier, also provided excellent service.
It's so nice to be able to rely on the experience and ability of professionals who have high standards of excellence. When a renovated space will be having a daily impact on people for a long time, you want it to be more than mediocre. With good design and excellent construction, our bathroom is delightful!

Main Bathroom Renovation We had Total Renovations do a complete gut-job of our main bathroom upstairs in our 85-year-old semi-detached.

Positives:
= All workers were courteous, professional, and friendly.
= Mark was accessible and prompt in his response to our emails
= Total Reno cleaned up nicely EVERY day to keep the rest of the house liveable
= Total Reno provided experience and helpful advice -- John in particular, who was the primary for this job, was fantasic.

Challenges:
= Job was originally quoted at 3 weeks, but took quite a bit longer to complete fully. However, to be fair, the majority of the work was completed within 5 weeks; the remaining time was due to several circumstances beyond Mark's control (e.g. ran into the Christmas holiday break; custom vanity and counter could not even be ordered until walls in, among others.). All in all, we weren’t really under a tight timeline so it didn’t bother us too much – it was just much longer than originally quoted.
= Disappointed with the fixture supplier, Tapworks, as we found a number of instances where: they charged more than was advertised in the store, shipped incomplete or incorrect parts, and weren't very responsive to emails - furthermore, it did not appear that they gave any discount as Mark had indicated he could get.

This was our first renovation project and overall we are quite pleased with the quality of work and level of professionalism that Total Renovation brings to the job. Costs were higher than all other contractors considered, however, we would definitely recommend Total Renovations and will consider them for all our future jobs!

During that time we have hired them to finish the basement (which included excavation and underpinning), new bathroom, extending second floor, exterior stucco work, and waterproofing, new shed, and many other smaller jobs. The reason we call Mark without hesitation is that he has consistently delivered time after time, he is trustworthy and he and his family live in the community so you know he and his team stand by their work.

Kitchen and Bathroom Reno We did a full gut job on the kitchen/dinning room and bathroom with a 4 month old! We lived in the basement while the work was going on. Mark and his team were very considerate of the fact that we were still in the house and therefore, cleaned and organized the space at the end of every day. They also kept us in the loop regarding timing and managing expectations. The project was scheduled to be complete after 5 weeks. However, it went to 8 weeks but we were in the loop every step of the way and therefore knew what to expect. We're very happy with our new open space and wouldn't have done any thing differently!

Bathroom Renovation Total Renovations have done a 400 sq ft addition (including basement), total bathroom renovation and we have also called them in to install central air and upgrade our exterior electrical pipe which also included brick replacement.
In each of these times, Total Renovations have shown consistent quality of workmanship with their own team as well as any sub-contractors that were necessary. The work is done properly, on time and at a fair price.

Good ... but not easy

Basement reno + new Bathroom My basement renovation was challenging. My home is 100 years old and after demolition it was obvious that there was considerably more work than Mark had anticipated when he had quoted on the job. Instead of covering up the problems over with new drywall or walking away, he put a halt to the project and met with me to go over the situation. We walked through the site together and reviewed each item and agreed that the scope of work was indeed much greater than Mark could have foreseen. We sat down and forged a new project plan and agreement and continued from there. The result is a home that is structurally and functionally better now. The basment was unusable before but now is a bright play, laundry, storage, movie area that my 3 boys have claimed as their own. Mark and his team Mark G, John, Gus and Tom are capable tradesmen who take pride in their work and care about their customers. I highly recommend this team of professionals.

Mark & John were totally professional and did excellent work

Bathroom Renovation This was the first renovation we planned and we couldn't have asked for a better result. Mark came to our house with a binder full of pictures of previous bathroom renovations he had done, recommendations from other clients, insurance and licence information. He made us feel very comfortable and answered all of our questions to our complete satisfaction. He went over the bathroom thoroughly and gave us his honest opinion of what could and could not be done due to the size of the space. He got back to us with a quote within a couple of days and we scheduled a start date. Due to some unforeseen delays with the renovation before ours, we ended up pushing the start date back a few weeks however, we had told Mark that we did not have a set schedule so the delay was not a problem for us. Once the work began Mark updated us almost daily about the progress and every day throughout we came home to a clean and tidy work area. He initially said it would take two weeks to complete however, the bathtub and sink we chose were about a 1/4 inch too big for the area once the new walls were put up, which was no one's fault as these old houses were not built to exact specifications. The renovation ended up taking five weeks but I have never heard of any renovation being on time so we were prepared from the onset for delays. The finished bathroom was outstanding and we have had nothing but compliments from our friends and family on the design and quality of the work. We found Mark to be honest and up front with us on every issue.
After completion there were a couple of minor things such as a couple of areas that needed more caulking and a slightly shaky toilet (which was actually due to the uneven slate floor we chose) that we called Mark about. He and John came over and fixed the problems with no questions asked and at no extra charge. He never asked for more money at any time and the final bill was what was quoted to us. I'd say that the quote was on the higher end of the spectrum but Mark and his entire team were totally professional from beginning to end and for a first renovation, particularly when you see some of the horror stories on TV these days, we had nothing but confidence and peace of mind throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend Total Renovations for any home renovation.

bathroom renovation In 2003 we had total renovations renovate our bathroom. WE were told it would take three weeks , it took 6 weeks. We had many days when there was no one at our job site. As soon as the cold weather hit our pipes and drain in our bathtub froze, I called and was told to put antifeeze in the drain and that was the only solution to the problem offered. There were a number of other issues during the renovatuion but . There were no permits for this renovations and I have since found that there should have been. When we had the quote I believed I was getting a first rate and knowledgable contractor, I was wrong.
