From the beginning, Mike and Aldo were an absolute pleasure to work with. We had a vision in our mind and wanted our unfinished basement to be a seamless extension of our 5 year old home. Sonoma made that vision come true! Mike was always quick to respond to emails and call, made great suggestions when we were being indecisive and gave very good advice when needed. Our original design would have made the basement look closed in, and Mike worked with us to create a design that had all the elements we wanted and kept the space very open and clean. We were able to fit a bedroom, TV room/family room, kitchenette, full bathroom (with bench) and Study/storage room, with good storage space. He also completed our garage putting up shelving for storage and completed our main floor family room TV mounting and home theatre wiring. The quality of the workmanship is top-notch! When we saw deficiencies that concerned us (such as some drywall issues with walls and flat ceiling) Mike made sure his crew came back out, no matter how often, to address our concerns. His crews were always courteous to our family and the clean up during and after renovations were well done. While our project went over the estimated timeframe, it was understandable, as delays were caused by vendors and special orders. Sonoma was not the cheapest quote, and as with most renovations, we did have some additional costs, but mainly due to upgrades we wanted. Any additional costs were always approved first. And as the saying goes – you get what you pay for! The end result was worth it and the wait. To date the follow-up and after-sale service has been great and Mike is still quick to respond to us. Mike and Aldo really care about their customers. They delivered on their promises. Their subcontractors were equally good. Their expertise is ensuring that there are "good bones" to a house - unlike some contractors who emphasize "exterior flash" to the point where basic flaws such as moisture express themselves in later years. As one indication of the quality of their work, they enjoy an excellent relationship with building inspectors. One contractor we had in on small carpeting job commented on the quality of their work. We're asking them to do more work for us. We would not hesitate to recommend Mike and Aldo to others. They have done work on three houses on our street and our neighbours have only good things to say about them.

Sonoma Contracting just did a complete renovation of our basement including the addition of a bathroom and gas fireplace that effectively doubled the living space of our home. We chose Sonoma because of the reviews on Homestars and they did not disappoint. Mike is scrupulously honest and a great communicator. All of our questions and concerns were addressed promptly. His courtesy never wavered. The estimate was accurate and detailed. We knew what every deviation (extras we elected to add on) from that estimate meant so that there were no surprises on the final bill. Having heard so many horror stories of renovation costs spiralling out of control, Mike's precision about all matters financial was a huge plus. The entire Sonoma team was very skilled, professional and impressive. The result shows. The basement is GORGEOUS and was completed at a reasonable cost in good time. We would happily have them back. We called Sonoma Contracting in early December to get an estimate on finishing the basement in our new house. Mike offered a lot of good suggestions, and came up with a very reasonable estimate. Over the next six weeks, he worked wonders. They worked weekends and over the holidays to get things done quickly, and did so without much impact to our day to day lives. And the basement is breathtaking. It's hard to believe that what was a dark unfinished place is now the gorgeous work that it is. The details and finishing touches were astonishing, including making a column out of one of the support poles and designing a bookcase to hide some unsightly pipes. I would highly recommend them to anyone, anywhere, any time.

Sonoma contracting had done our basement a few years back and we were so happy with the work, reliability and price that we had Mike do our bathroom. We were thrilled again with Sonoma and will use them again when we do our other bathroom and the basement in our new house. I came to know Mike through a friend of mine who recommended that I speak to him for our project. We were very happy with the staff Mike has working for him, they are all professional & courtious, and made sure that they cleaned up after each day of work. The basement was transformed into an area that we now can enjoy. Mike made some suggestions as to where to locate our kitchen & office and in the end the space was utilized well. I am in the building supply business, and I can tell you that I have dealt with many Contractors over the years, however working with Sonoma Contracting has truly been a great experience and has restored my thinking that there are still a few good people out there that are not in business just to make a buck, but who truly take pride in what they do. After reading other positive reviews of Sonoma on Homestars we invited Mike to provide us an estimate. We had previously met with other contractors to provide quotes but Mike stood out among the pack. Throughout the project Mike was well organized, promptly responded to questions and maintained a clean work site. Mike is a professional who takes pride in his work and has a friendly "customer first" approach (which included bring the occasional Tim Horton's coffee for us). We had several customized features we wanted to include in our basement project and Mike had great suggestions to make them even better than we had originally planned. We are very pleased with the work that was completed ahead of schedule and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone and we expect to ask Mike to do future work for us.
