We needed the hardwood on our main floor to be resanded and stained a darker colour to match our stairs. Scott was quick to respond to my questions and request for a quote. This leads me to one thing that impressed me the most and is often overlooked: attention to scheduling and project timeline. Through my exchanges with Scott, I knew they were serious about getting a job done on time and were not like many contractors who take on more jobs that they can handle at once. In the end, Andre worked on our job for a consecutive number of days, and finished everything before moving on to his next project. We were uncertain how our floors would look after resanding/staining since it was maple which is known to give a "blotchy" look. Andre took a lot of time explaining the process and even prepared samples using extra pieces of hardwood that we had so that we could be confident that it was the look we wanted...it was obvious he had quite a bit of experience and was very passionate with his work. We spoke to at least 10 other contractors prior to choosing NewRidge - only one would recommend sanding maple and none had personally done it. Andre worked with us to get the exact stain colour we wanted and in the end, we were thoroughly impressed and extremely happy with the result. Out of all the renovations completed on our house, I feel that we got the most satisfaction spending the money to refinish our floors. Thanks Andre and Scott...it really is appreciated.

From first contact through email Scott was very informative and quick to respond, usually within minutes. I recieved my quote based on information I provided and I felt it was very fair given the work involved. Heath showed up right on time and had the job completed when he said he would. When we made the decision to change the color on our hardwood floor, we were nervous as we heard lots of stories such as really bad toxic smell and the dust will be really bad. We also wonder if the baseboards will be chipped off with the sanding. We also heard about the bubbling from the coating at our friend's house. All these worries were superficial. NewRidge Refinishing sent Andre & Brian over and they did prep work such as sealing part of the house with plastic and the dust wasn't too bad as the equipment they used suck up most of the dust. Of course, there is dust but it was not bad. They vacuum after the sanding was done. The weather was perfect for the 3 days of staining and coatings so we were very lucky. The whole process was not painful at all and we are very happy about the results. It was exactly how we wanted the floor to be.

My wife and I are happy with the work and the great personality of these chaps. Having said this I just spoke with Andre to apply another coat to the rails and step for more of a build up rather than sheen and he said no problem and he’ll get it done next week. After reading several rave reviews on Homestars, I phoned NewRidge and left a message which was returned promptly by Scott. I was given an appointment for Heath to come see the home and provide us with a quote. The quote was, in our opiniion, very reasonable. We were also very impressed with Heath. He has a genuine love for wood and we feel we have found a true craftsman. We look forward to having the project completed. If you have had floors done, perhaps you can suggest what you did with your furniture during the process? That is my current project.

I chose NewRidge because of Homestar reviews which I read on this website which they referred me to. I hired them to refinish my living room dining room which job was completed while I was away. On my return, on an initial superficial inspection ( I am disabled and unable to kneel down and do a close up inspection), the job appeared fine. However, soon after, when I had another flooring top Hamilton/Burlington flooring company came to estimate a totally different flooring job in other rooms the estimator pointed out problems with the new finishing job done by NewRidge and asked why it had been left in that conition. He indicated that the refinishing job was not of an acceptable standard because of a pebbled effect left on the floor especially around the perimeter of the room which he indicated was due to a failure by NewRidge to properly clean/vaccuum sawdust particles before applying the new finish, creating a pebble effect which was only visible on close inspection but which also could be felt by touching the flooring. I had not looked at the floor up close and my eyesight is not great. I immediately contacted NewRidge by mail with full details of the problem and requesting them to help solve this problem. NewRidge never bothered to acknowledge my corresponsdence or attempt to contact me in the past 2 months. When they initially completed the job, which I paid for in cash, they were quick to request and follow-up on their request for a positive Homestars review, which I assume is their major advertising vehicle. Based on this experience with NewRidge, I would say their workmanship is substandard (the expert's opinion not mine) and they do not stand behind their work. I am totally dissatisfied with this job and this company and would definitely not recommmend them to anyone in the future.
