Ken came by and was the most professional and friendly electrician we had quote us, we hired ken and he was actually quicker than he expected and on budget. When I was concerned about some garbage left at our house, he was very quick to resolve the issue. We recommended him to my parents and they were very happy as well.

Howieco is a superb company. They were recommended by a house insurance company in Toronto and they are highly rated on Homestars. Ken, the owner, made things so easy. He gave us a complete and clear overview of the job, answering all our questions and dealing with any issues we had. The estimate was competitive and inclusive, and subsequent adjustments were accurately presented. But what was most impressive was what took place after the work began. Things done without our asking were: installation of Siemens breaker panel, the best in the business, as well as a complete consolidation of the panel area (originally separate boxes for major loads), Decor outlets/switches, a 12 gauge wire for an outlet under extra load, extra dedicated outlets, installation of fixtures that we supplied, a last minute extra outlet we requested for the TV, adjustment of their schedule to accommodate a roofer’s roof vent installation, and then installation of bathroom fan and attachment to roof vent, checking of existing 14-2 wiring and immediate replacement when found faulty or in any way questionable, removal of existing outlets/switches from a load-bearing wall that might be removed in the future. This company seems determined that you will be satisfied at the end of the job. Krista was terrific, amazingly organized and thorough. Marty, who met us on the last day, was great, and gave us a complete tour, explaining what had been done and answering all our questions. Thanks to everyone from Howieco for making such a difficult task so easy and accommodating every change, even last minute, we made. I hope Howieco will be available when we add a new addition next year.

I have been using Howieco for all of my home’s electrical needs for over 10 years. Ken and his team are great to work with. They respond to requests for quotes promptly and efficiently. Their rates are very competitive. Combined with the excellent work that Howieco does, there is likely no better electicl contractor in Toronto. Once contracted, I have never had a delay in the start date, the work always comes in on time and on budget. His team is courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, prompt and efficient. Overall, I give Howieco a 10 out of 10. I have recommended them to all my friends and colleagues. I do not even bother talking to other electrical contractors.

I must say thanks again to the hard work that everyone at Howieco did when they re-wired my rental property. I had all three units on one meter and some knob and tube and they rewired the entire house, seperating the meters and replacing the knob and tube. It was a HUGE job as another electrician had butchered it (all without permits previously). They did all of this with 3 tenants still living in the house! they caused minimal disruptions and were very respectful of my property. They started when they said they would, worked all day and left the house in working order each night. They laid paper on all of the floors and covered everything in the rooms as they worked. It took them less than 3 days to completely re-wire from start to finish and took care of dealing with Toronto Hydro and ESA. Their work passed the ESA inspection with flying colors and the damage to the plaster where they had to break walls open was VERY minimal based on the scope of the work they did. I am extremely happy that I hired them and will continue to use them again and again. I've since passed their names on to clients/friends and the same glowing results. The entire organization is top notch from Krista in the office, to Ken and Don overseeing everything and guys in the field, they are all very respectful, straight forward and professional. Hired Howieco Electric in February 2012, to install retrofit halogen pots lights (23 in total) on my first and second floor. The work was done carefully, promptly, on time and on budget. Before the work began floors were covered, furniture protected and rooms that weren't part of project were sealed off. A crew of four worked on the lighting for 3 days. After the ceilings were reconstructed and painted the crew returned and installed the last 2 pot lights, all the dimmer switches and some new fixtures. I'd like to emphasize how careful, considerate and skilled their electrical team is. I gladly use Howieco again and I'm sure to recommend them to anyone I know in need of electrical work.

I would encourage those who have had electrical work done by Howieco to get the work professionally inspected. That's what we did -- and Howieco's work failed the inspection. It cost us almost as much to get an electrician in to fix their work than what we paid them in the first place. Then a few months later, thinking that we had finally put the whole ordeal behind us, we learned that the "wires that go nowhere" that Howeico removed when cleaning up the service panel were actually the power source to our commercial air conditioning unit. So, we had to fork out another several hundred dollars to have the air conditioning unit reconnected. We are a small charity that provides support services to women. The money we paid out to Howeico was money that we had to pull from program delivery. It's a real shame! We got some of the money back - not from Howeico, but from the Electrical Safety Authority. They reimbursed us the permit fee that we never should have been charged in the first place. And one of the inspectors who came out felt so bad for us that he couldn't help but hand over a personal donation.

We don't normally respond to reviews, although we do appreciate very much all of the positive feedback from our awesome clients. However we are extremely disappointed to see this blemish on our pretty spotless record and we do need to defend ourselves and perhaps shed a little light on the situation at this job. This small job of cleaning up the service panel & installing a few new circuits was done at a discounted rate for the North York Women's Centre, because we believe in trying to give back to the community whenever possible. We took out a permit for the work, and the work was inspected as per normal procedure. The work that we completed passed inspection (something which we can easily prove), however there was some other wiring in the building which was not completed by Howieco that the inspector noticed while on-site, as per his email to me. If the work that we did had failed inspection, we would have been required by the Electrical Safety Authority to fix it and have it reinpsected. We are an approved contractor with the ESA and would never jeopardize this by doing faulty work or refusing to repair something that was our responsibility. The air conditioning circuits to which our former client is referring were not connected at the panel when we arrived to complete the work, so they were capped and rolled up neatly to the side of the panel for future use should that ever become necessary. We were hired to clean up the service panel, not find the source of every wire running into it. The wires were still at the service panel, and reconnecting them should not have cost several hundred dollars... Perhaps if we had been allowed to come back and take a look at the problem once we were advised of the defect that the North York Women's Centre's wiring received, we could have reconnected the air conditioning wires for them and saved them some money. We would also encourage anyone having electrical work done to have it inspected; however all of our work IS inspected by the Electrical Safety Authority. Again, we are very disappointed to see this dishonest representation of our company and our reputation after so many positive reviews over the years.

Ken, Krista, AJ and crew provided among the best service I've recieved, not just from a contractor, but in any situation. They returned my call promptly (two other contractors never returned it at all), sent me a quote right away, contacted the ESA without my asking, arrived bang on time and took exactly the time estimated to finish the job. If we need more electrical work done, I'll be calling Howieco for sure.

Howieco is a company who we found is very knowledgeable with removal of knob & tube. They followed up with us, answered all our questions & concerns when they provided their detailed quote, as the work was being done and right till the end of the job....we were very pleased with the outcome of their efficient completed work at the timeline that was quoted to us.
