Washer Dryer Fiasco
This feedback is based on a true, factual, timeline driven occurrence of events. I realize the store owner will rebuttal this claim. I can assure you this is a a fully honest report. Purchased a washer /dryer (Gorenje) from the Faulkner store on Lake Shore Etobicoke on December 4, 2024. Four weeks later and eight wash cycles, the washer began leaking water in our apartment. You can imagine the damage below. We alerted the store owner on January 2 that on December 30 the machine was leaking water. He offered a service call. Sure lets repair a stacked washer dryer unit in the condo hallway. Not happening.
We refused the service call offer and asked that he entirely refund the purchase of the washer. It was 15 days old and unbeknown, was a floor model. After a heated debate arguing who is responsible for the leaking machine, the store owner ultimately took no ownership of the product. When calmer heads prevailed the store owner suggested an upgraded model/machine who he claimed was a Swedish built machine. (It was later revealed as assembled in Slovenia machine). He told us that it would be available by January 7th or 8th. At no time did he offer to pick up the leaky machine nor did he call us later the following week telling us that the newly, more costly upgraded machine is now somewhere in Laval, QC and will be delayed until delivery now, January 20, 2025. Imagine not washing your laundry from December 30 , 2024 and mopping up a leaky washer, still in our condo on Jan 10. To add insult to injury, the owner accused us as being overly argumentative and unreasonable in the entire situation. Wow! We doled out over $4600 and we have to retain our frustration?
Glean what you can from this story but I can assure you this is not the Faulkners that Gord ran. The new owner , on the surface and at first blush appears to customers as very pleasant, fairly knowledgeable but I assure you all that this is an act. Ive never encountered a transaction that was more dishonest, half truths told and patently simply saidpoor customer experience. Additionally, the electric connectivity that was installed for the dryer was a fire hazard and we were told to stop using it. I would never, ever, ever, recommend Faulkner appliances on Lake Shore Blvd W in Etobicoke. I state this vehemently as I have dealt with the former owner , Gord for many years and have had many successful transactions and issues that were dealt with professionalism - unlike the current situation at this store. Ultimately, the store retained a restocking fee of $650 and refunded the rest. We left $650 on the table for zero return.
