We highly recommend this company for your new floor. We visited the store and the staff were very friendly, polite and knew their stuff. Jack, who came to the house to give us a quote was great. He was able to advise us on several points in our project that actually saved us money. Wayne and Gerald showed up to do the install promptly on the planned date and time and were very friendly, polite and well groomed. I find this last point important because if the workers are sloppy I find the job generally is as well. They were fast and very accommodating in anything we asked them to do. They finished off the floor with white quarter round and did miter cuts around the corners of various walls and nooks that really impressed us. The job is beautiful and we can hardly wait to show it off to friends. If you want to have a great job done by a super flooring company go see Downtown Flooring.

In November 2011 I had hardwood floors installed in my home. Although it has been 18 months since the service I feel it is necessary to write this review as it's important for consumers to really understand the level of service and support you get from a company. To start with, during the initial consultation (they did come to my home) it was agreed to put hard wood floors in, soundproofing underlayment and new baseboards, for 2 separate floors. A price was negotiated and a payment agreed upon, to which 50% is paid up front for materials, (this is is non-refundable). The day the installer arrived he immediately complained about not being able to install the sound proofing (for some reason which made no sense to me or to the person who came to my home for the consulation ). So, now I can't have soundproofing and feel that I can't decline the service because they already have my money. My first issue is why have an inhome consult and sell a service that you can't support? In addition to this, the installer was 'put off' by having to install the larger base boards and stated that he didn't have enough "nosing" to complete all the stairs and landings (which I paid for). So 2 more components of service were not followed through. During the installation, the installer broke one of my light fixtures ... which I cleaned up and no offer from the company to compensate me for it. The installer was running behind and started to rush through the work and cut the carpet away from the stairs leaving an unsightly transition from the stairs to the floors. I had to ask him if he could fix it to make it look even somewhat professional. After all of this, I ended up paying for the job, begrudgingly. 6 months after the installation I notice all of my floors start squeaking. When I stop in to see the folks at downtown flooring and raise the issue with them, the only response I get is ... there is nothing we can do. When I ask if the soundproofing could have prevented the issue, I get the classic, "shrugging of the sholders" - translation - too bad. 1 year later the squeaking problem continues to get worse and I finally find a company, "squeaky floors" to come in and see if they can solve the problem. It turns out they can (at the tune of $1000) and the reason for the issue ... the installer was lazy during the installation process and did not stagger the staples between the joists. This coupled with a slightly uneven floor causes the floor to squeak. If the installer wasn't negligent with the staples and if I actually got what I paid for (the soundproofing) I wouldn't be having this problem. In the end, Downtown Flooring failed to fulfill their obligation to me. I only wish I had written this review sooner so that other customers would not have to go through what I have. I am extremely disappointed in this company.

I had my kitchen floor replaced entirely with Marmoleum. I found the service to be very good from the store and the salesman Gurpd. The installers were a bit of a challenge but in the end they came through. My floor looks great and it was the right choice for my needs.

I checked around several hardwood floor stores in Toronto and I decided to go with Downtown Flooring, because of their pressure free sales and they have one of the best rates for installation fee per sqft. They installed engineer hardwood floor in my condo this week and they did excellent work and finished earlier then expected. Jack was very helpful, friendly and great customer service. I would definitely recommend their service.

I have hesitated to write this review pending the outcome of my flooring situation. Let me start by staying that if I were able to give a rating less than "0" to Downtown Flooring, I would. Last summer I did a lot of work on my tiny 1951 bungalow and the work I was most excited about was the installation of marmoleum in the kitchen, hallway and bathroom. The entire job was a disaster from start to finish. The first crew arrived and were dismayed about working in such a tiny old house. My little house has lots of plaster and uneven bits, but I think that's part of the charm. Apparently the Downtown Flooring people were horrified to be working in such a little house in my up and coming neighborhood. After insulting my home they deigned to do some of the demolition of the existing floor, and then the crew damaged the old subfloor by stepping through it and breaking some of the subfloor boards. A different crew came back to finish the work two days later. According to the contract, they were supposed to replace the old subfloor and install the marmoleum. But they decided not to replace the subfloor and instead to repair the holes in the subfloor made by the previous crew by screwing wood pieces in from under the floor (accessed in the unfinished part of the basement). They made a mess of the installation. When I arrived home, there were black glue marks all over the floor, cuts in the marmoleum, irregular seams and dirt and dust everywhere. Although they were supposed to install quarter-round, they decided instead to leave 10 lengths of quarter-round standing up in my tub. I guess they lost interest in my little house. While they were doing the work, they decided to take a coffee break and wandered up the street to the local coffee shop. They left my home unlocked and the dog sitter came by while they were out. She locked them out and when they sauntered back to my house they were angry about not being able to get back into the house. Luckily she was still in the area and was able to return and let them back into the house. I guess they figured there was nothing of value in my little house. I had work done on my house in advance of a family event being held at my home. While all of the other contractors met their commitments and did fantastic work, Downtown Flooring seemed to care very little about my event and why the work was important to me. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. My advice is to keep looking. After several conversations with the owner, Steven, he provided me with a full refund. After a year of living with this hellish work, I've just had someone else in to correct the mess and make my house livable again. Stay away from Downtown Flooring.

I hired Downtown Flooring to install walnut engineered wood in my condo and they did a beautiful job--Voytek the person who did the installation did a great job--he even returned to do a repair that was caused by another tradesperson. I was very impressed with the overall work that was completed.

Downtown Flooring (and Stefan there) is the best, in all ways, from the beginning to the end of our hardwood floor project! The best price, workmanship, professionalism, timing, care, value, quality, etc. - you can't get it anywhere else! (Wanda Tse - Toronto)

We were finally ready to remove the ugly carpeting on the stairs and 2nd floor and replace it with wooden floors. We had been saving for this project for longer than we had hoped. I researched many companies, took quotations from four and chose Downtown Flooring Company. I had a positive reference from a neighbour about this company which is why I chose to receive a quotation from them. I had never heard of them before. Jack arrived as scheduled to do the estimate. All communication with Jack was timely, efficient and clear. Samples were left as requested and advice provided as needed. My sense that the work would start and end on time was one of the main considerations along with skill level although the price was a consideration in our choice. For these reasons, my husband and I contracted to have our work done with Downtown Flooring. The work began on time and ended slightly before schedule. The team that removed the carpeting, etc. did an excellent job of clean-up. This team who installed the wood flooring was also personal, professional and skillful. I have no complaints whatsoever about the installation of the wood flooring. It looks terrific. 10/10 The worker who installed the carpet to the third floor also arrived on time, completed the work professionally and was easy to have in the house. The workers who installed the wood stairs from the first floor also arrived on time, completed the work as scheduled and finished on time. I did have two small issues with the quality of the work. Jack immediately ensured that this work was redone although it did take a bit of scheduling time with the worker before that was done. The pricing they gave us was in the middle of the group we took estimates from and, I believe, was fair. Jack lowered the estimate when it turned out that our sub-floor was in excellent condition and less work was required than expected for his company. I found Jack to be organized and to be a man of his word. I give this company 9 out 10 and would recommend them as reliable, professional and skilful.
