Delco Renovations

Company Profile

Your full service renovation company!
Back in 1973 we began installing gutters, operating one of the first mobile continuous eavestroughing machines in the Fraser Valley. Gradually we expanded our services to include decks, awnings and patio covers. Then came aluminum and vinyl siding, window replacements, outdoor additions like wood beam sunrooms and acrylic and cement stucco applications for residential and commercial buildings.

I had a small bathroom that needed renovating so I had received estimates from several companies and decided to go with Delco Renovations. From our first impressions of the estimator to the completion of the work, Delco was well worth the dollars spent on this renovation. I had the flooring, vanity, toilet replaced & they also did the painting & a bit of tile work. I would recommend Delco as they are very thorough, get the job done in the allotted amount of time and I was extremely pleased with the finished product.

I recently had Delco renovate two bathrooms in my home. Their price was competitive with other quotes plus they offered superior support in the design and fixture selection process. Throughout the job, their tradesmen were prompt, courteous and very competent. Any adjustments or extras were handled in a fair manner and all of the materials used were high quality. I am extremely pleased with the results of the project and would not hesitate to hire Delco again for any future renovation work. I received good value for the money spent and it was a pleasure working with such a professional contractor.

We stopped by the Delco Renovations showroom one day to get some information on renovating one or more bathrooms in our 30 year old home. We met with Don and found him to be very professional and decided to have him come out to give us some estimates and ideas for a problem bathroom that we desperately wanted to have updated. The quotes which were presented to us in our home, were very detailed, and Don also made some good suggestions which we appreciated. When we decided to go ahead with the project we were then introduced to Debbie who helped us with our decisions regarding colours, tiles, cabinets, fixtures, etc. She spent a lot of time with us and was a great help in making tough decisions. The job was started in a timely manner and we found the tradesman Chester to be very competent and quite a perfectionist, which was wonderful because I'm very fussy ! He cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day and tried to make things go as smoothly as possible which made it quite painless for us. After hearing many stories about other people's horror stories with other renovators we were pleasantly surprised and very pleased with our experience with Delco. We are thrilled with our new bathroom, and would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a hassle free experience. Thanks again Don, Debbie & Chester for a job well done !

In the spring of 2011, we hired Delco Renovations to replace a deck we had at the back of our house and a smaller deck off the main bedroom, and also to install a deck on the ground at the back of the house. During the gathering of quotes, I met with Mike Olma who I found to be fair, honest and straight-forward. Mike gave us an excellent suggestion of actually shortening the length of the deck so that it would no longer block the view from the large windows in our living room, and actually would have saved us some money. The work was done quickly and at a fair price. We were at work or school during most of the construction but our neighbour, a retired engineer, reported to us that the work was done to a high quality. The project was done to our satisfaction and we have enjoyed the deck since. I have recommended Mike and Delco Renovations to others and will continue to do so. Wilson in Coquitlam

I would not recommend Delco or use them ever again. It took them over 7 weeks(which is completely ridiculous) to complete a bathroom reno that was already gutted (other than the vanity and a bulk head) before they started. The new tub was already installed and the plumbing was already complete. They missed deadlines time and time again. They never communicated changes to the schedule. People would just either show up to work or not show up for work on what ever days they liked. If you are going to use them, be extremely specific as to what will be covered by your quote. One of the things they were to do was supply and install a closet door for our washer and dryer closet. When it came time to do that we were then told that it didn’t include painting the closet door so that was a project we were going to have to take on ourselves. The quote noted which areas were not to be painted by Delco but the closet door was not listed. We also contracted them to tile the tub surround and floor. They informed us after work commenced that this did not include sealing or caulking. The final product was definitely below standard. The drywall job they did was horrible. They did try to fix it and repaint but it didn’t work. The paint job they did was also not very good. There were paint brush hairs all over the walls and the paint seems to mark up as soon as it is touched. One of the workers took out a chunk of porcelain from the base of our toilet. Some of the workers didn’t clean up after themselves so I was having to do the clean up after them every night. Minor details like a cover for our light switch in our hallway were not replaced, yet they removed it when work commenced. By week 9, we ended up telling Delco we were going to get professionals to complete deficiencies as we were not confident anymore they would be done properly or in a timely manner by Delco. Another thing to note is that when we complained about these deficiencies to Debbie she couldn’t even be bothered to come and take a look at the finished product and see the problems we were talking about for herself. In fact when she picked up her final payment she asked us to leave it under the mat.

Over the past several years, my family has dealt with Delco Renovations for two different projects. The first was an extention of our backyard patio. We were very pleased with the results and again used Delco this past fall to remove and replace tiles in our entry hall and completely renovate our downstairs bathroom. In both projects with Delco, Ken MacKinnon was the supervisor. We found Ken to be exceptionally easy to work with and the work done to be of both good quality and as we had requested. Ken was invaluable in offering suggestions and advice while not pushing his ideas on us. At the start of the project, he gave a detailed estimate of the costs and never went over it. The craftsmen he brought in to do the work were excellent. Came when they said they would, cleaned up before they left leaving our home spotless. When Ken said something would be done, it always was and within the time frame promised. Ken was very visible throughout both projects overseeing all of the work that was being done. The work was all we wished for, within the estimates, and completed on time. In both cases, we were very pleased with the results and we will use Delco again for our next renovation project. We are very happy to recommend both Delco Renovations and Ken MacKinnon to anyone contemplating renovations to their home. Roberta in Vancouver

My wife and I hired Mike from Delco Renovations this summer to resurface our two decks, replace the stairs connecting them, install some cedar siding, and install a custom french door. We received quotes from two other well reviewed companies before deciding to go with Mike and Delco Renovations. We chose Delco because Mike really impressed us. We found him to be straight forward, knowledgeable, communicative, timely, and cost effective. We just got a good feeling from Mike, so we went with Delco. The work started promptly and made fast progress. The carpenters, Ray and Michael, were personable, efficient and talented. In the contract we had not included rot damage as it's hard to assess without tearing everything apart. A lot of rot was found, but we felt the extra money needed to complete the job to be very fair for all the extra work that was needed. Overall, our expectations have been met or exceeded by Delco Renovations, and we are already using them again. Thank you. Adam & Laura in East Vancouver

Just thought I would send a quick note to let you know how much I am enjoying my new kitchen. It is a huge improvement. Particularily the amount of counter space. Thanks again for your expertise. Pam

Our growing client base and the demand for our services took us beyond the Valley and into the entire Lower Mainland. Along with this increased service area came greater requests for interior renovations including kitchens and bathrooms. So we became a full service renovation company offering our customers the convenience of one place to call.

Many of our projects have earned Gold and Silver Georgies in the GVHBA as well as a ‘Best Kitchen’ in the National SAM awards. We’ve also had many feature articles profiling our work in Home Makeover Magazine.

By far, our greatest satisfaction has come from seeing homeowners realize their dreams. Their satisfaction has led to repeat business and enthusiastic referrals.
