We have had a leaking basement for many years and we have tried many different ways to solve it but have had no luck until we found Clarke Basement Systems who have gave us the pleasure to enjoy a basement the way it should be. i would like to thank Claude for coming out and explaining everything clearly and helping me and my family to get everything we needed even though our funding wasn't there for everything we needed. I strongly urge you to contact Clarke Basement Systems if you're having wet basement issues. The sump pump and water drainage canal that were installed are working perfectly! We had two individuals named Rob and Gary who came and couldn't have been more professional or friendly. Each took the time to explain the whole process and answered all of my questions. They prepped the two areas and they both ensured that the mess was kept to a minimum...they even cleaned up afterwards! My wife and I are very happy with the service we received and even though I never write reviews, I felt I owed it to write one for the company to show my appreciation for the work they did. I strongly urge you to use their services and make sure you ask for Gary and Rob.

Summary: We are located 3.5 hours north of Markham. Water table is high on our property. We wanted to add Lateral Drains to deal with moisture observed inside the existing basement Waterguard perimeter drain. Clarke Basement Systems (CBS) provided an estimate and sent their first work team quickly. In spite of some scheduling / resourcing issues, CBS sent a second team out within a week to complete the work. We are pleased with the final results. Communication (10/10) Fiona, the service tech, came to do annual maintenance on our existing pumps. She discussed the work requested, and later emailed an estimate. She stayed in contact by email through all steps of the job. Thanks to Fiona for her great communication. Work Team A: (8/10) The first work team, Dave and Luke, arrived about 11am on a Wednesday. They were friendly, polite workers. They quickly began breaking new trench in the cement floor. By early afternoon, I learned: 1) Work would not be completed that day (based on slow progress). 2) Dave and Luke were not available to finish the work. 3) Someone would get back to me about next steps. Scheduling completion of the work was escalated to CBS Production. My goal was get the work completed by the end of the week. Dave generously offered to come on Saturday if CBS could get him an assistant. Other comments: No plastic sheet used to prevent dust from spreading into the rest of the house (an open staircase is close to trench). Work area swept clean. Scheduling / Resourcing Challenges (7/10) The next day, Fiona emailed, with apologies that no one would be coming in the next few days. It might be the end of the next week before another team could come. (Ouch!) She assured me that the work “would be done right, as soon as we can make it happen.” Compared to each of my previous two excellent experiences with CBS, this scheduling / resourcing disconnect fell below my expectations. Happily, on Monday morning, I got a call that a team was suddenly available and could come the next day. Thanks to Production for arranging a work team. Work Team B (10/10) Rob, Kevin and Joe T. came and finished the work. Trenches were dug quickly. Kudos to the team for their high quality work. They took steps to keep dust controlled while jack-hammering trenches (plastic sheeting on stairs, as well as blower). Rob is an excellent communicator whose friendly, positive, and practical approach was mirrored by Kevin and Joe. The team members worked well together, and were very helpful. The work area was left clean on job completion.

We had water coming into our finished basement and suspected a foundation crack and an expensive job. We were even quoted by another company for waterproofing. Roy from Clarke came to visit and found the actual problem - a hole in the caulking around the basement window. He gave us advice on what caulking to use, as well as other tips to keep water out around the perimeter. He could have quoted us on an expensive waterproofing job like the other company did and we'd be none the wiser (as the first-time homeowners that we are), but he gave us an honest assessment. We appreciate this kind of stand-up business practice and will definitely call Roy if we have any future problems, and recommend him to all of our friends and associates. Very happy with the repairs done to multiple wall cracks in my basement. This is the second time I've used this company, & the reason I had them back is because of how effective their first repair was. This time Mr. Fitz Wilks was my service man and went out of his way to explain thoroughly each step of the repair process, & why it was critical to the overall repair. Mr. Wilks was prompt, tidy, and obviously took great pride in his work. I would have no problem in recommending this company.

We had water in the basement only during extended very wet periods. But often enough that finishing the basement was out of the question. From their literature it looks like Clarke Basement Systems carries pretty high end product and we were a bit anxious their quote would push a high end solution for a problem we rarely saw. In fact what they offered was bang on. Their explanation for what we saw made sense (high water table, not seapage) and their proposal clearly recognized that we needed a pretty basic sump pump. They offered good advice on how to drain the run-off so it wasn't dumping back on the lawn. In short, a complete solution including for problems we hadn't forseen and a price well worth the peace of mind. Totally dry now through some weather that has soaked our neighbours basements. Can't comment on how their follow up is because everything has worked flawlessly. We got good instruction on care and maintenance so we know it's working even during the long periods we don't depend on it. We're confident enough now that we went ahead and finished the basement. We got about 800 square feet more living space we thought was unavailable to us (by my math that's less than $2 a square foot)

I called Clarke Basement Systems on a warranty issue for a system installed some two years back.  Fitz Wilks, their inspector, responded to the call and explained that he wished to run tests and check the installation.  Fitz had to work under some difficult conditions but all times he remained polite and professional. Fitz arrived on time, or communicated if he was running early or late. He did exactly what he said he would, even changing his schedule to accommodate my needs.  He demonstrated that he clearly understood his company's system as the cause and the remedy were exactly as described in his report. The works have been successfully completed. It is refreshing to find a responsible company represented by a committed, professional and able man.  Thank you Fitz.

My wife and I just moved into a new house and found a leaking crack in the basement that was not apparent in the first month of possession. We figured this was going to cost us huge and our side yard would be all torn up but it needed to get fixed. We called Clarke and were sent Claude to inspect the area and give an assessment; to our surprise we were quoted less than $500! There was no obligation whatsoever so we took a few days to think it over then called to book an appointment. Within a week we had Fitz Wilks come to fix the crack, he then went around the outside of the house and caulked some possible areas where water may leak and gave some advice on things that could be done around the house to keep it nice and dry, all at no additional cost. My wife and I are very satisfied with Clarke and their employees and would strongly recommend them to anyone with a basement leak!

I’m writing this review to recommend Clarke Basements as professional, customer focused subject matter experts. From pre-sales to clean up, they got the job done with an informative, “no dumb questions” approach, and above all, with the quality they would have expected if they’d been the homeowner. For us, they fixed three window wells and two cracks in our home’s foundation, one of which had been fixed before, but which caused two recent, damaging floodings. Bascially, the filler that had been used in a prior repair crumbled. Clarke Basements used their proprietary approach to fixing the crack, and as a result, in seeing their work and products, we have the confidence, now, to shift from basement repairs to home improvements.
