We hired Bravehart to renovate our Family Room to make it more functional for our large extended family. They were to add some closets, additional storage, a mantle with built-ins and a gas fireplace. During the work, they discovered that the room did not have proper insulation and solved that problem too. The room is now warm where before it was always chilly. We enjoyed the Design help from Bravehart, as well as the Construction work. We really appreciated the professionalism of Laura and Bill and their workers. They are prompt, reliable and timely.We have called them again, for a second renovation!

Laura is a true professional. She's honest, caring and straight forward. Laura reviewed the proposed layout we received from another designer for our main floor renovation and she advised us on the missing design and structural information that should have been included given what we had already paid. Laura was able to provide us with a clear understanding of the specific steps required to go to permit and more importantly the specific costs to do so. She outlined everything leaving no questions unanswered. Laura was a real pleasure to deal with. A designer like Laura who truly has her client's interests at heart and her client's budget at heart, is a designer that is very hard to find. The design industry needs more Lauras.

It is unfortunate that there are no standards in this 'Construction Industry' for both the 'Design side of the house' and the 'Build' side. They are interconnected. More than that, as I say to clients, the control of the budget is in the planning stage. Many companies are leaving out aspects on the 'Design side' that contribute to costs to be captured in the Construction bid. This is my new goal - to establish 'Best Practices' or 'Industry Standards' for minimum requirements to Design and Build effectively. Thanks for your important feedback. (And the compliment. Recently we had Laura visit our home to provide a 1 hour consultation to discuss our intentions for renovating our home. What was to be a discussion about "plans" turned out to be a talk about the "vision" we had for our home. We just bought a new house and need to transform the space to meet the needs of our growing family. After moving into our new home, we wanted to expand into the basement. We choose Bravehart building and we have never regretted it. The quality of the work is very high, every detail, especially the things that you do not see yet are absolutely essential in a basement (such as managing water drainage, depth, structural integrity), were carefully looked after. The result is a fantastic basement that really adds a whole new story to our house. It was only after the fact that we truly appreciated the quality of Bill's work, particularly once we learned that our neighboors on both sides who both live in newly built homes have had water problems in their basement. After this we have always turned to Bill and Laura whenever our almost century old home needs some TLC. Our children's bedrooms, roof, bathroom, AC/Heater and water heater are all much better following renovations done by Bill and Laura.

Thank goodness Bill has so much experience with soil, structures, concrete, underpinning, foundations, etc. It was also fun picking finishes so that you could be sure you explored the different design options. We hired Laura at Bravehart for our home extension plan. Phase 1 of the budget and planning opened our eyes with many different ways to build. Laura took the time and effort to understand and assist to many different design challenges and budget constraints. At the end we did not proceed with the project, however, if in the future we need any other renos or design needs, we are sure to give them a call.
