Located in a narrow storefront on Bloor Street it's easy to miss. I first stumbled upon the place several years ago when I was looking for a narrow (24") fridge that was counter-depth and had a reasonable capacity... and was EnergyStar qualified. I'd already visited every big box appliance store in the city, and invariably when I told sales staff what I was looking for their eyes would glaze over and their shoulders would shrug, so when I went into this seemingly tiny store on Bloor Street my expectations were not high. However when I told Joe what I was looking for it only took him a few seconds to ponder the possibilities and suggest a GE model which I'd not seen in any store. He didn't have one in the stock but it only took about three days to have one delivered (and the delivery was free). As a landlord I buy lots of appliances, and both Joe and Doris offer superb product knowledge and have earned my continued business.

I recently purchased a condo in downtown Toronto and the kitchen space is small and required some thoughtful planning. Trying to find condo sized appliances to take a look at was next to impossible, until I found Bloor Dovercourt Appliances. I discovered their website and could not believe how extensive their product lines were. Upon visiting the shop I was blown away by the in store selection of condo size appliances. From the minute I walked in the staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Not only did they guide me through all the options available they also made recommendations of other small businesses that could help with my reno's. Doris was an absolute delight to deal with. I have already recommended this shop to friends how are looking to renovate their houses and condos in the coming months. A total gem. I will not hesitate to recommend and use them in the future.

I was looking for a discontinued LG refrigerator that was the only fridge compact enough to fit in my condo and I reached out to as many retailers in Ontario including LG themselves and could not locate the fridge. Not only did Bloor Dovercourt have the last fridge, Joe held it for me when another interested customer came into the store prepared to buy it! Amazing customer service and the delivery team was great too! Thanks again! Sarah

The small footprint seems to allow them to have reasonable pricing and the best service I have EVER received in buying appliances. See Doris! She has great product knowledge, communication skills, research skills and hand held me through some very difficult manufacturer issues. Just an absolute pleasure to deal with!

My elderly fridge finally conked out a couple weeks ago. It had done so a few months before, and I found a good repairman (Shakespeare's Appliance Service) to fix it for modest cost. But Ivan Shakespeare had also warned me the compressor was living on borrowed time, and he said that I should simply buy a new fridge the next time I had a problem. So suddenly I needed a fridge. Doris at Bloor Dovercourt, from S. America, was great: a good explainer, friendly yet low-keyed, the opposite of pushy. I found a small white model (14 cubic ft) from Inglis that looked nice, and the price was fine. "I'd like to buy it," I said, wondering how long it might take. (Remember, I'm now a guy with no fridge at all, it's 85 degrees F, and I'm figuring maybe a week for this process if I'm lucky.) Doris said the Inglis was in stock, and could be delivered the next day! My, my, this certainly beats The Bay, where I had been earlier. How much would it cost to alter the door hinge, to open in the opposite direction? Oh, Doris said, we'll do that for free. OK, what do you charge for local delivery? Nothing, she said. Even if I live on the second floor? Not a problem, she said. And can you even dispose of my old refrigerator? Sure, we'll remove it. Wonderful, but how much will that cost? Nothing, said Doris. It's included in the purchase of your new fridge. My God, I should buy appliances from this woman every week! The next day, right on schedule, two friendly young deliverymen accomplished both the new-fridge delivery and old-fridge removal. They knew their stuff, kept measuring clearances, and tight as it was, they managed to heave two large appliances up and down a flight of stairs with no scratched walls or door jambs. I tipped them $20, wished them well, and wondered if I am a cheap tipper. So why can't all retail stores in Toronto operate like this? And modest prices besides! I'm still marvelling...

Joe helped us with purchasing a new stove, and gave a great deal on a floor model. He walked us through all of the available brands and gave us an honest assessment of them all. He registered our stove with the company, and will be available to us should anything go wrong with it. After buying a stove online(!) from Sears and having two burners and the oven all go, it was nice to have personalized service from someone in my neighbourhood - for a better price.

For a small appliance shop, this place has it all. I got a great deal on an AG Wolf Range and Joe is now helping me with my very specific fridge requirements. ie...energy star, tall narrow fridge for city living. He took the time to go over every option with me-Thanks!
