I'm an interior designer, and needed expertise on whether my lobby project needed to have an uncoupling membrane to separate the older concrete floor slab from the new tile being laid. Their resident expert was able to determine and recommend that due to the existing conditions, we would be fine to just fill the cracks and lay the tile, as the floor was older and settled. We did include movement joints in the tile floor area.
