Exterior Renovation

This man is a con man and fraud. BEWARE!! This guy is a con-man and fraud. He is a self-taught “carpenter,” but also bills himself as a “builder.” He will promise you everything, and deliver none of it - all the while, making himself at home (literally) in your home, using YOUR things like he lived there. He took months, what should have taken weeks. I couldn’t stay at home while he was there, because he would follow me around, telling me stories about himself. He was VERY unprofessional.
You will also pay thousands more than hiring someone legitimate. The only reason I used him is bc I work w/ his wife, who I like, admire, and trusted. I wanted to fire him multiple times, but kept him bc he promised to fix things to show quality, w/ a life-time guarantee. I also had too much invested initially. I didn’t give him a full final check, bc he didn’t finish the job, even though I gave him 2 ½ wks more than he initially told me it would take. I had other contractors waiting to do other jobs, and I had scheduled and rescheduled my time off at work around this job. It took him over 4 mos to get started!
He was very careless, so damaged things in my home and garage that were not previously damaged, or that we had just redone. He trashed the garage, bathroom, kitchen, utility room, and lawn. (He parked and drove his large truck around my newly seeded lawn and over the sprinkler heads. We had to park on the street.) By the time I got around to checking out his work, within 2 wks of completion, the paint was peeling, there were unpainted surfaces, the wood was split and coming apart and there was paint and caulk everywhere. Everything looked patched at best. He left visible grimy handprints on the surfaces where he worked. It looked like a kid had done it. He also managed to short out my phone, security system, and hot tub twice, which cost me hundreds of dollars in service calls.
If I asked him about anything during the job, he was very offended. He had unbelievable excuses for everything. He was rude and verbally abusive, and tried to turn my sons against me. He totally ruined my son’s 20th birthday. He was very unreliable about showing up. He went shopping “for supplies” almost half the time he was there, even though he took every rainy day off. (He could have worked in the garage, which he had taken over.) I have a feeling his wife thought he was working every day, all day. He made negative comments about her when I would try to compliment her. Obviously, he didn’t like me. He “thot I was ignoring him” if I slept in when he came. He really didn’t like having a deadline either. Character wise, he was paranoid, severely passive-aggressive, narcissistic, and arrogant. Interestingly, he is the preacher for a small country church, which fits his wolf in sheep’s clothing cover. As for the “life-time guarantee” for almost 20K - he never returned a phone call after he got his agreed upon final check.
He took advantage of a single woman both financially and emotionally. After a nightmare experience of having him violating our lives like a rapist or psychpath, his work was falling apart and looked terrible.
The photos were taken within two weeks and are only a few of hundreds of his typical work.
